I had more than a normal amount of service. I had 2 couches, a large sofa chair, and tile grout cleaned in the kitchen. This was in addition to carpet on stairs and landing and one bedroom. The two fellows who came out were very helpful in explaining everything to me. They showed up on time. I had an excessive amount of dog and cat hair which needed to be removed, and their service was very good at that. The only drawback was the drying time on the couches because of their wet water system. The cleaning was good, but I think I'll try a dry system next time. read more

If you have a carpet that is not too old (less than 10 years) and not outrageously soiled (like pets) 1. STANLEY STEEMERS NOT WORTH PRICE IT IF YOU HAVE TIME TO DIY. You can do it yourself using a basic rented device, following the instructions carefully, right rug cleaner and get the SAME level of results, but it's time consuming. 2. SS HAS LIMITED VALUE. If you have carpet that is older or heavily soiled--SS will definitely be an improvement BUT you won't be impressed. WHY? Agitation is REQUIRED while the machine is shampooing to loosen the dirt. Stanley Steemer does not use agitation. And quality of their result is worse no matter what SS says. You will be impressed with the results if you rent or buy a COMMERCIAL machine equipped with agitation brushes and do it yourself. read more

Today, I had Stanley Steemer Company clean my sofa and my living room rug. Raymond was the technician who was sent to do the job. He was excellent. He was personable, respectful of me and my home, courteous, and knowledgeable. He even made me aware of other services that could be offered if I wanted to take advantage of them. He explained everything that was being done and answered questions that I had. When Raymond left, the carpet looked new, and the sofa had such a clean fresh look and smell. Frank arrived on time to our house to clean an area rug. He suggested sending it out so that both sides would be cleaned. We agreed. We then asked if he could clean the tile floor, which he started on immediately. He did a nice job and took years off the floor's appearance. Frank went above and beyond by cleaning our half bath and pantry entrance. He was pleasant and friendly. We would definitely have him back in the future to do more cleaning. read more

Will do it myself!!! we moved all moveable furniture... no stains were needed to be treated.i expressed the desire to thoroughly CLEAN it even tho it looked fine but we live on sandy soil so those fine particles need to be brought up and out of carpet fibers! there was a duffel bag under the bed, clearly in reach ...but it wasn't taken up and placed on top of bed so I assume that area was not cleaned.i asked them to reach under bed as far as possible because cats ....they offered no styrofoam to replace furniture on so as it was WET we set up fans and finally after 12-14 hours we were able to return some furniture ...the first remark the technician said to me was " you made it too easy for us"....i feel they rushed through, left too much water and fine sand in and didn't remove an empty duffel bag to thoroughly clean all carpet that they could...we did not move dresser or bed in bedroom ...but in living room all couches, end tables, coffee table was removed and they were clear to clean ...no offers of help replacing furniture on Styrofoam risers as quoted on receipt...$400 for bedroom, living room and stair case! I can get it done dryer, cheaper, cleaner myself. read more

My mediocre review is about the pricing only. The techs and service was great. I have a 1,400 sq ft condo. I had 2 carpeted bedrooms (one room only 8x8 and I asked them not to move the 2 heavy pieces of furniture), 1 carpeted living room, 1 very small kitchen, 1 small entryway, 1 very small bath and larger bath (tile floors) done. My house is very clean. I was having the service done more for a refresh than anything else. I realized after I paid $500 that they really do not have a differentiation for how large rooms are or how much work the techs need to do (how dirty the areas are). I think for the size rooms I had cleaned, and how clean the areas were to start, I was overcharged. I wish they were able to tailor pricing based on the actual job rather than a boilerplate room charge. For the pricing alone, I couldn't in good conscience recommend Stanley. I reached out to customer service and in essence told they have a standard room size and everything is charged based on that size. So, for a condo or other small dwelling, not worth the price. read more

One Star because - when Stanley Steemer ruined our 6'x14' fine wool rug, they handed over the case to their Insurance Adjuster, rather than taking responsibility themselves for the replacement. Background: Previously, we had recently used Stanley Steemer on two occasions where the work was perfect. Therefore, we were quick to call them to remove a few mud footprints on our hall rug. All seemed well, and the rug was cleaned. I paid over $600 for the service at that time. However, the rug would not flatten out; ripples persisted. SS came back and took the rug to their NY workroom where the final restitution did not succeed. We were told the rug was irreparably damaged. I cannot vouch for how the rug became damaged ... too much steam? I do not know. I just know that Stanley Steemer washed their hands of the incident, turned it over to an insurance adjuster, and moved on without being supportive of a loyal customer. I spent almost 2 months haggling with their adjuster about what was fair & right because of Stanley Steemer's carelessness. I got nowhere. The adjuster was not going to give us the replacement cost for our very fine rug. Although the rug was 9 years old, it was in perfect condition and would have lasted us a lifetime. I provide this information for your consideration only. Be alert - Accidents can happen and when they do, you want to be dealing with a company that will not run away from their customer obligations. Stanley Steemer's services are broad; their work can be superb; but accidents can happen, and that's when you want SS taking full responsibility for any incurred damage. Otherwise, you will be left like we were - receiving a pittance from their insurance adjuster for a very big blunder. I used the Edison, NJ Stanley Steemer. INCREDIBLE! First off, I'd like to thank Derrill and Jim for doing a phenomenal job! We are moving into a new place where the previous owners had a young kid who totally "ruined" the place. There were many deep dark stains on the carpets, soiled markings etc. it was just in really bad shape. AFTER I consulted Stanley Steamer: two things I noticed right away were 1) the price was very fair. 2) professional service. I knew it was going to be done right. They came in to inspect all the areas and make some suggestions where needed. It took them 3hrs roughly which wasn't bad for 3 rooms, staircase and hallway. Plus I got it sanitized and conditioned for an extra $100 total. They were very friendly, clean, professional and I highly recommend them! I have used this particular "stanley" for many years. Today was a horror show.scott and Rachad were my technicians. Scott ordered and belittled Rachad from the start. I inquired about the yearly plan and Scott gave me a 20 minute lecture on how I would save money. He then told me I need deodorant in my second room. I am 65 and cannot afford it.while leaving the hose spilled dirty water on 2 of my stairs. Scott said it is water, I said it is dirty water and got a tissue to dab it and it became brown. He took a photo after he steem cleaned it. He was complaining the whole time and ordering Rachad around.i called the company but said I was scared because Scott knew where I lived,that's how concerned I was. read more

I wish I had come here to read reviews before booking this service. The crew arrived to come clean a number of area rugs. When I asked about moving a rug from under the bed (since I knew they weren't allowed to do this), they reassured me that there was no need because they could easily reach the rug without moving anything. I confirmed they would be cleaning the whole rug, because if they couldn't reach under the bed, I didn't want to pay $70 for the rug to be cleaned. They confirmed. After they left, I checked the rug and they had only cleaned the perimeter around the bed (under the bed wasn't even wet). I called right away, but customer service told me I had to wait until the local office in Edison called me back. They called this morning and could only offer sending a crew back to clean the rug they hadn't cleaned. I explained that my house is now on the market and I can't schedule another cleaning, as it is unpredictable when we would have a showing. Any other company would have offered a refund on the rug, considering they took the money and never cleaned it! Not this company. I will never make this mistake again; no wonder it's so easy to get an appointment with Stanley Steamer. Save your money and support a local company instead. read more

Super disappointed! Staff promised they would call before arrival so I could take dogs out and inform renters they were coming. Instead they just showed up and 1 man refused to go near the house because of the dog. When they entered the home, they walked on my white carpet with snow/dirt covered work boots and made a bigger mess. The mans response was "don't worry we clean carpets, it'll come up." They spent 1/2 hour and carpets looks like nothing was done but soaked. When i asked about spots, I was told they spot treat, NOT stain treat. FYI! If you hire them thinking they will remove or improve any stains you are wrong. They won't even treat them. They tell you it's permanent. Although, when they left I attempted to scrub and clean these "stains" and they cane right up making the carpet look perfect. A manager called to discuss after my complaint, and I was told they would come try again but that's the only help. I refused this because I have the Home listed for sale now and I can't ask my renters to keep leaving the house. There was no sympathy or assistance to resolve the issue understanding my situation. I suggest using a local person who will be more appreciative to the business. UPDATE: another manager has contacted me to sincerely apologize after reading this review. He than promised to have them come back to do again for my liking and also sent a credit for the problems. I'm very thankful for his assistance!! read more

The service itself - and the technicians - deserve higher marks. However, the company's pricing policies bring them down. EXPECT TO BE NICKELED AND DIMED!! I placed an order for five rooms of carpeting (each room up to 300 square feet) for a flat fee. When the technicians arrived they informed me that the two stairs up to one bedroom and the 3x4 foot hallway connecting the other two bedrooms (and part of the open living room/dining room) were extra - $86 extra (or almost 15% of the original quote). No one asked me about stairs or a hallway when I placed the order or informed me that these would be extra. Also, while I paid for up to 1500 square feet of carpeting to be cleaned, they only actually did less than 750 square feet as none of the rooms were anywhere near 300 square feet and there was furniture that was not moved. It's a good company and a good service; do they really need to mislead people about pricing so they can pad their bills once they are in your home? Try honesty and transparency. I would have probably engaged to service anyway but would not feel so ripped off by your practices. UPDATE: I originally rated this company as two stars as explained above. However, the manager personally contacted me to apologize for the confusion and indicated that the pricing strategy should have been explained more completely by the folks manning the central reservation number. He agreed to refund the extra charges in light of the circumstances. I have now raised my rating accordingly. Many thanks to the manager for his personal attention and his willingness to correct a mistake as there are many businesses that will not do that. read more

This Stanley Steemer location has amazing customer service. I posted previously that the upholstery cleaning I received from them didn't fully remove the cat urine smell from my chairs. I immediately received a response from the owner of this location, and he offered to send his team back to re-clean my chairs for free. Honestly, I was surprised to get a response, let alone additional cleaning! The team came back today to clean my chairs, and hopefully this will do the trick. The gentlemen explained their processes and made some suggestions to continue fighting the cat smell. They were extremely professional and worked quickly and thoroughly. I have used Stanley Steemer a few times since living here and my experiences were fine until now. They must have had some turnover. I took advantage of the 2 rooms for $99 deal. I wanted my living room and bedroom done. The team that came was extremely RUDE. They insisted that my living room area was 2 rooms. Mind you, they had previously counted it as 1 room. One worker complained about the heat, didn't put the risers under the 1 table that was there, and charged me for 3 rooms. Nothing was explained and they complained about having to do 3 rooms. The very pleasant ladies on the phone quoted us a price of $285 on the phone to clean our master bedroom and basement, which they considered to be the equivalent of 5 rooms. Whatever. When the man showed up, my father met him there and he insisted the price was $375. My dad was about to pay that amount when he called me to ask an unrelated question. I was appalled and called the 800 number, where they confirmed the price was $285. The technician kept insisting on $375. I demanded to speak to a manager, who was extremely rude and said "why is this our problem?" After about half an hour of arguing, He finally informed the technician that the price was only $285. I would never use them again. Sears has a better reputation although it is more expensive. it's well worth it. read more

Just OK... I've used Stanley Steemer 3 times now... First two on the carpets and the last time on our bathroom floor. If I broke apart my review, I would go 4-5 stars on the carpet cleaning and 1-2 stars on the floor. Carpets were very clean when finished, we had some pretty bad pet stains they were able to get out. We also have a shag carpet that they were able to dramatically improve. As for the floor, there is nothing on their website that indicates they can not clean natural stone. We have marble floors in the bathroom. Their steam pressure is too strong and can damage it. Techs came out, said they couldn't clean it with the nozzle they had. They needed a larger nozzel. Another truck came by later in the day, but he didn't get the message about the nozzle. I rescheduled for another day with the 800 number and made sure they had a note for a larger nozzle. Show up, and they say even with the larger nozzle, they couldn't guarantee it. They went ahead anyway with a reduced pressure. The floors are cleaner than they were, but not $105 cleaner. Probably could have done that on my own. I will say, in all cases, the technicians were pleasant, courteous and helpful. They were honest with respect to what they could and couldn't do, and were only hampered by the obstacles the company put in front of them by sending them on a call they weren't able to properly handle. There should be very clear language on the website with regard to marble and other natural stone tiles. read more
