Last year I got a quote on cleaning four medium-sized area rugs, to be cleaned off-site, and it was $1200. This year, I decided to get a quote from Stanley Steemer and it was much more palatable at just over $200. I ended up adding in my upstairs hallway and stairs for about another $75 because my dogs and also decided those were awesome Pee areas, in addition to my area rugs. The cleaning went well on the three wool area rugs and they ended up spotless and smelling wonderful, as did my upstairs hallway and stairs. However, the acrylic area rug in my front entry still reeked of urine and ultimately had to be thrown away. I don't blame the cleaners for this, I blame my damn dogs. read more

The required services were done satisfactorily but the cleaner who came to my home not only had a lousy attitude but also insulted my home calling it "Filthy" Like anyone else I love my home and do the best I can to maintain it. I have never had anyone come into my home whom I hired and insult my property. What a classless individual to say the least. I had a simple carpet cleaning of two area rugs and the stairs. It looked ok when it was wet, but two days later the dog hair and dirt showed up. Stanly Steamer was more interested in getting the job done in 20 minutes than cleaning the rugs. Don't waist your money, find a different carpet cleaner. Air duct cleaning = terrible. Very disorganized and slow, and left a HUGE mess in our house and on our newly-cleaned carpets. We have to have them back to clean up. Really a one star is too high. How is their service? I have no idea, they never showed up! Twice! I called to get an estimate on getting my ducts cleaned. Made appt. On Friday between 1 and 6 pm. Update, Stanley Steemer came out here again today. Number one they sent a technician out here and didn't even tell him he was supposed to clean my carpet. I called to complain again. And the manager told me that I was being hostile and that his driver was not going to clean my carpet. And that they wasn't giving me my money back. I don't have $179 to give anybody to not do the job right.So if my money is not back on my card in three days. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau. They have inconvenienced me all month.My birthday is Monday, and my carpet was parked and clean on the fourth. I am so angry. Do not use them at all. Of course I'm hostile. You have inconvenienced me. Overcharged me. And did not do a good job. on July 6 Joe Hilliard from Stanley Steemer came out to clean our Living Room and two area Rugs. After speaking with my wife who was working from home he had said he could not clean the rugs due to the pet stains going through the rugs so she asked him to clean the hallway and two stair cases instead. He did that ( kind of... ) and then he offered my wife to clean additional room for a "deal..." she was busy but said yes, but only after asking Joe how he was going to move the furniture because he was by himself and in the past they came out with multiple people. He said it wouldn't be a problem. apparently it was a problem because he simply wouldn't move anything. instead he just went around every piece of furniture and was done in lightspeed time. They charged us $718 on what was supposed to be a $248 job. I have called and keep being told i'll be called back. finally the "office manager" did call me back. she kept cutting me off and when i asked for her manager just flat out said no. So.. to recap, they didn't complete the job. they did a poor job of what they did do and charged an exorbitant amount that i never agreed to. i did leave a message for Steven Berryhill ( manager ) and have not yet heard back from him in hopes of resolving this issue. i'll never use Stanley Steemer again after this experience. side note, they have 141 complaints on Better Business Bureau with a 1.24 / 5 Star rating due to similar business practices. read more

I would have a 2/5 star rating until Stanley Steemer, Billy Brock and his partner came to redo our house cleaning this afternoon from the cleaning that was completed on Wednesday. After living in our home for 3.5 years, we knew it was time to get our carpets cleaned. I search the web and read reviews in hopes of a good experience. I was disheartened to find out that the first team that came to our place Brennan and Ben rushed through our home, didn't move any of our furniture that I easily could have myself as a small 5'3" girl & to be quite honest couldn't even tell the carpets were cleaned at all. To give you an example, they were so lazy that they didn't pick up my daughters diaper bag off the floor in her closet so in turn just cleaned half of the closet. I found this out because the carpet was completely dry on half the closet side when they left & that is just one example. We spent over $430 for 4 bedrooms, stairway, & hall for a low quality job so I called back and asked for them to fix this. The rep politely rescheduled a new appointment for us with a new team (Billy Brock) to come today and the work is truly DAY & NIGHT! I'm amazed at how clean our carpets are & even bought an 18 month package from him telling me that as long as he would come back, I'd be more than happy to continue my services with SS. From a not so happy customer to feeling very satisfied with the redo work, Billy Brock at the EP location truly is a man of class, integrity & good customer service. I contacted Stanley Steemer for a commercial service to clean our conference room. It was scheduled, I waited for the cleaner to arrive, received a text that he was enroute to our location. Hours went by and I called to see where this tech was at, was told Dispatch would call me with an ETA. Never called me, i called back 2 more times and the last CSR was a unprofessional, rude and really nasty talking over me. I have never had such a rude ass interaction! CSR was acting if she personally owned the business and I just hung up, I would never refer them to any one or use them !!! Not bad. Took advantage of their $99.00 three room special that included two rooms and the hallway. Compared to some of the other services we used, this one was average, but better than a lot of the zero chemical treatment places which has equated to zero clean. These guys came out and arrived pretty early within the window. Cleaned, moved things and put all the little plastic and Styrofoam risers around. It took out a lot of the dirt in the heavy traffic areas, but didn't look as great as I thought it would be, but it does look better. Maybe our carpet just needs to be replaced. Satisfied with the service, time quote and price. Would certainly think about giving them another try. read more

Nice young man but sub-par work. Failed to mention or go over additional costs which my total was to be under 500 ordered & confirmed. I had other obligations that Saturday as this cleaning was to be done Friday as Scheduled he asked how I wanted to pay the balance which was almost $1200 total!!! Was never told or informed of extra costs or why never received a copy of the costs or even a receipt once paid. They are trained to get as much out of each job! = for 2 hours of cleaning I would never pay 500+ per hour especially since the few Concern spots our weekly house cleaners couldn't clean we wanted professionally cleaned. I've left several calls to the Manager & also emails with no response so here I'm wasting more time posting a review with I will do on various other sites as well The original damages Caused could have been avoided with the protective equipment they failed to use to rush the Job. I have scheduled an appointment online and was given an estimate for the cleaning for $379.29. The cleaning person was supposed to come in between Noon-6 PM. The kid came in at around 6:30, looked around, and announced that it is going to be around $500 (I failed to mention the small entry hall by the kitchen) but he'll give me a discount and it's going to be just $420. I agreed and wrote the check. He spent an hour and a half spraying, scrubbing, and moping. At around 8 he was done and told me that it is $607.79 total. I gave him a check for $420, said thank you and he left. Of course not immediately. He was calling his supervisor and the supervisor was pressuring me to pay more but in the end, he just left. In the morning the tile dried and I could see how bad it was cleaned. My discussion with supervisor Steven Berryhill with a request to redo the job wasn't fruitful. I scheduled an appointment on a Friday with a time window of 12-6. Finally at 4:00 I received a text saying I was next and he was on his way. The tracking showed he was 10 minutes away but then I realized he was not moving. At first I thought he was maybe not quite done at the previous customer but zooming in on the location showed an industrial park where I believe their office/garage is located, probably clocking out as he never showed up. What a joke! I booked with them excited to get my carpets cleaned cause I had company visiting. They quoted me $260 for the house basically. The guy comes, Edward Guzman, shines a light and then tries to up charge me $100 for stains you can only see with his light. So I agreed to $40 thinking we're about to get started. Then he tells me he needs my water hose port, which is in my garage. So your gonna drag a hose from the garage up 3 stories?! Anyways the port didn't work (no water) so basically he said he couldn't do it! Huh?! When I called in to the office, the receptionist said he should have tools to connect to the sink and couldn't get me in for almost a week. What a joke! Don't use them! So disappointed. read more

I had a bad experience last year with SS. They came hours late and left the carpet soaked. I had purchased ahead so I used them again since my aging dog is making my dining room carpet a mess. This time was so different. First of all William M. did not start with a high pressure selling tactic. He asked if I want to buy ahead and when I said no he left it alone. He was friendly. He did his best with trying to get my carpet as clean as it could be with switching out attachments for the steps which had not been done before. We chose Stanley Steemer partly because of the many positive reviews on Google. I should have read Yelp. Maybe we got a "bad egg", but once he got here he used high pressure sales tactics on my wife to sell a "special service" that was 3x the original written estimate. I scheduled an appointment for an air duct cleaning estimate. I was told that the technician would arrive between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM which is a very broad range of time. We do not live in the house yet so I had my girlfriend waiting at the house for the technician while I'm at work. I received a text at 11:30 saying that the technician was on the way. The technician did not arrive on time so I called again and asked for an update. I was then told that they had to reach out to the dispatcher, and then told that the dispatcher actually has to reach out to the technician. I was then told that a technician would arrive around 3:00. Finally, a manager got involved and called me and immediately blaming me stating that a technician (not the technician that I was told was on his way at 11:30) had arrived at 10:30, waited for 15 minutes, and then left. The manager then asked me if I wanted the technician that I was originally told I would be getting to come over after his next job to which I agreed. Then I got another call saying that the technician was actually done working for the day and was asked to reschedule. I am not available any other day this week except for Sunday, but Stanley Steemer is closed on Sundays. I have screenshots to prove this. I usually do not write bad reviews, but I make a living providing great customer service and that is not what I received. I will absolutely be taking my business elsewhere and telling everyone that is need of the services that Stanley Steemer supplies to look elsewhere, unless Stanley Steemer can do something to make this right. The lack of communication and the blame being put on me by management is absolutely ridiculous. Huge waste of time. read more

The room was 12 x 12 with the bed centered on the wall. Stanley cleaner came and said they can not move the bed or other furniture but they can clean around the bed and dressers. Stanley Cleaners charged my mother over $600 dollars to clean the 4 feet or so around the bed. When I found out how much they charged I had my mother call the manager and asks why it was so expensive. The manager said he was sorry and offered a $260 gift card for the next service. Well my mother decided to use her gift certificate to get her kitchen floor cleaned. When she called Stanley Steamer and gave them the total square feet of her kitchen they said that's her $260 dollar certificate would cover the cost of the cleaning. I was skeptical of this and told my mother she can not pay even 1 penny for the cleaning of her kitchen. Stanley Steamer arrived today to clean the kitchen floor and said the $260 dollar gift certificate would be applied to the total bill and she would only owe $400 dollars. Stanley Steamer seems to be a company that takes advantage of the older population by up-charging the price they quote and seeing how much they can squeeze out of each job. We have several price quotes given once the technician arrived and viewed what was to be cleaned. He wanted to add on charges left and right. Had carpet cleaning done on a Friday, spent the following Saturday afternoon with my Hoover SteamVac, going over the strips that were missed and redoing those 'uncleanable' spots on the carpeting and on the edges of our stairs When I called the shop to discuss, they were quite curt, offering to come back out to clean what was already re-cleaned, said they were sorry, and good bye. From his tone, they must get a lot of these calls. Moral of the story? Invest $150 in a Hoover. It's half the price of a single Stanley Steemer service call and does a MUCH better job. I had scheduled an appointment for someone to come out and clean an oriental rug (in the end, it was pointless). Now let me be completely honest and say that my rug is in perfect shape, except that is sat in my great-grandmothers attic for many many many years (so there was a smell to it). I was told multiple times over the phone and in person, that the smell would no longer be there after they were done. So, I went ahead scheduled the appointment and they came out same day (quite lovely if you asked me). The individuals were extremely nice (one awkward), but nonetheless nice; they spent the first 45 minutes hard selling me on other products and essentially shaming my home. They then started to clean my rug (this is all I wanted them to do). It takes an hour or so, which I was totally fine with; the rug smells good and they tell me to leave the rug to air dry for 12+ hours. Again, I'm okay with this, I understand how carpet cleaning works. After, 6 hours the smell comes back and worse than ever! It's like the attic died and the rotted in my living room; it was awful! I called their 24-hour customer service and was told someone would come out next day and re-clean the rug (great!). The individuals were again, nice; they spent the first 45 minutes hard selling me on their other products and again, re-shaming my home. The rug was cleaned, smelled great and they told me to turn the air or heat on the help with the drying process; they also said not to open any doors or windows (I could handle this and they seemed more knowledgable than the last people). The individual also said that if the smell came back, they would take it into their shop and spend some time with it. Well, the smell came back! I had to argue for them to clean it again and finally they agreed. They kept my rug for about a week and from what I understood would clean it multiple times until the smell was either gone or essentially nonexistent. I went to pick up my rug and it smelled awful, absolutely putrid! When I asked about another solution, I received a response of "that's just how your rug smells and you'll have to get over it." Excuse me! So I pay 200$ (which isn't awful by any means) for you to tell me to get over it! My antique heirloom rug smells worse now then it did when I inherited it (I understand this is my fault for taking it to them, as I've never had one of my rugs cleaned before. But, I trusted a recommendation from someone who has their antique rugs cleaned with them). Their customer service was awful on the matter (in-house CS, not their 1800 #) and eventually I gave up!I learned through this experience, that I will never have them clean anything for me again. I recommend finding someone else to do your cleaning. I will state though, that the men who came to my home had excellent customer service and they alone would get four stars, but the actual product was worthless and an utter waste of my time. read more

My advice is: DON'T use this company.... in the Minneapolis area anyway! I had 2 large areas of carpet cleaned, 2 chairs, & 2 magenta colored area rugs. Unfortunately, the beige carpeting in my rarely used living room ended up with a pink tinge to it in a couple of areas. The area manager came to look at it, and did admit to seeing the pink. He gave many excuses which included that the sun caused it (he said the morning sun is hotter than afternoon sun). However, the area was by a window that gets morning sun and is mostly under chairs....so that sun could hardly hit the area anyway. The next excuse was that the carpeting was pink when I put it in!!! and that the sun faded all the rest of the large area except the area underneath the chairs! I am surmising that somehow the dye from the magenta area rugs somehow stained the next place they cleaned....the beige carpet. This all took place in May. I have called Albert, the manager with the stupid excuses, almost every week since then. I received a message on my phone saying they would give me $250 off a future service. I don't want to EVER use them again. In July Albert finally called saying the District Manager in Portland (Sam) would call me within a couple of days. It is now a month later and I have not heard from Sam. I have called Albert twice in that month to let him know I have not had the follow up call. I scheduled online for my parents. Received confirmation via an email and then a call. Was given a window between noon and two and told the driver would call when in his way. About three minutes after two we saw the Stanley Steemer van coming so went to the porch just to watch him drive by fairly quickly. Because he hadn't called first we didn't have a way to reach him and no answer in the 800 line. Had a phone call confirming appointment window & was told that I would get a call 30 minutes prior to arrival. Called the 1-800 number on confirmation at 5:35 on only to be told the cleaning crew is at your house. Um, no they aren't. Usual song & dance w/Manager. "So sorry"' we'll send a crew out the following day at 4pm to clean your carpets. It's 4:20 pm following day. National dispatch has requested a call from station manager. No team & no clean carpets. I am very sad to leave this review. I had Stanley Steemer out to my home on Thursday 5/11. Paid extra for the pet deodorizing. My carpet was still soaking wet on Monday morning and the pet odor was worse. I emailed and called on Monday. I got an email back saying they wanted to come out again. No thank you. I could not take another day off of work and have soaking wet carpets again. I asked to have a manager call me. No response. I emailed and called on Thursday. No response. AGAIN today 5/22 I emailed and called. Finally had a Steve B call me back and said it was their POLICY to not give refunds. WTH??
