Exceptional service. My husband is big on craft beer and had the pleasure of speaking to the GM the whole time he was there. He got to geek out and talk about different beers -their favorites, must tries etc. and the GM made great recommendations of spots to try in Denver. This place may not be what you'd expect but it is excellent. It is a nice restaurant with some really great dishes and beer options. It is not the Lowery beer garden. Take out of town guests here, Dates, nice family meals out, but don't go and expect to play corn hole and chug some cheap beer. Maybe that will be an option in the summertime. As a person who doesn't know a whole lot about craft beer, I love the new concept of self serve taps because I was able to try so many different beers without having to buy a full pint of each! I now know that the Left Hand Milk Stout is my absolute favorite!! The new menu is awesome and has a great range of food for anyone's particular taste. Now I'm just waiting for patio season so I can sit outside with the gorgeous mountain view and enjoy my new favorite beer. Great re-do, Stanley Beer Hall! I will be back for sure! read more

I've been to this place 4 times in the last two months, and here's the rundown of ratings for each part of the experience: Food (1 star) - I've only eaten here once, but the food was pretty subpar for the price (duck sliders, cheese tray with crackers) Bar service (3 stars) - great selection of beers and wines, but bar service can be a bit slow at times. Prices are decent. Kind of what I'd expect from a place like this. Ambiance (4 stars) - indoor restaurant is kinda cool and hip, and bar is laid out well. Outside is cool area too with benches and overhanging lights and somewhat shaded. Full of kids though at times, so be prepared. Wait staff/hostess staff (2 stars) - servers we've had are pretty attentive and nice (especially Manny), but there is a huge disconnect between the hostess staff and rest of the staff. We've been treated pretty rudely by hostesses just for asking if we can sit in the area next to bar (the area looks like it should be open bar seating). I honestly can't remember the last time I saw such rudeness from staff. This is the first experience many have when entering a restaurant, and it's really not the first impression you want to be making on new customers. I really want to give this a higher rating, but the rudeness and general issues with some of the service needs to be addressed by MGMT, or we won't be coming back. read more

I checked this place out for lunch recently and was overall pleased with my experience. I guess we came on the day when they restock, as they were out of the first few beers we asked for. The beer list was varied, but nothing stuck out to me as extremely special. The menu consists of small plates, sandwiches, and large plates. As a vegetarian, the way to go seemed to be sharing small plates, as the rest of the menu was limited. My friend and I sampled four small plates, and that seemed to be the right amount for the two of us, but if you have a larger appetite, more plates might be necessary. Standouts included the watermelon salad, and the street corn, both had a ton of flavor and tasted like summer. The ambience is great for a group, and I'd definitely suggest checking it out on a trip to the Stanley. read more

Giving this place three stars, in hopes of returning and giving it more. Went on St. Patrick's day and as expected, was pretty busy through Happy Hour. Was surprised to see so many kids there. Had the pear cider which I did not love, but that's my fault as I sampled first and still ordered it. Ordered the wings, which were great, and the Brussel sprouts, which had great flavors but could have been more of. Service was a little slow, but I understand they were really busy. Very great beer selection from all over the country. Great ambience, plenty of seating and parking. They also serve food! I tried the truffle fries and they were delicious! We came around closing time and the waiter was super accommodating and was still able to get our order in before kitchen closed so that our friend who was running late could still have dinner. POUR YOUR OWN $8 BEERS! Inconvenient, overpriced mediocrity. I really wanted to like this place. Aurora really needs a decent large tap room with a nice patio and bang on pub food. But the Stanley beer hall fails at exactly the thing that makes a beer hall great. Enjoyable Human interaction. If you want to interact with anyone, better bring them with you yourself. As soon as you arrive the first thing they do is stop you at the door and try and convince you to pay for your food and drink in advance in order to make leaving easier I guess. The last thing a business should do is annoy you the second you walk through their door. But the Stanley beer hall is one of those businesses that before they will sell you anything makes you take your ID all the way out of your wallet (everybody's favorite inconvenience) and hand it across the cash register to them before even being seated. At which point they explain to you that you will be ordering your food through a waitress, yet servicing your own drinks from a wall of beer where you have to scan your unmarked card which can be confused with anybody else's unmarked card and then you get to buy beer for around $.43-$.56 per ounce. They conveniently leave out whether you pay at the beginning of the ounce or the end of the else meaning if you go so much as a milliliter over you pay an extra 50 some odd cents. And if your glass of beer foams up, I hope you like waiting, to pour more because you just paid for that. The food here is another disappointment. Although it does have some classic hits from 2006 like buffalo flavored tater tot's as a side option. They also offer kettle chips as a side option. But the greatest disappointment is that they clearly don't make their own kettle chips the ones I was served with my lunch today were dry and on the stale side meaning they came from a bag. The burgers were good but everything else about this place is just a little bit on the disappointing side. It really could be better they just choose to keep it this way I guess having less employees and sell any beer by the ounce and over pricing your food by 1 to 3 dollars per entrée is a great way to make sure you keep your payroll low and your profits high. I really wanted to like this place, because their burgers looked good on Instagram. And in person their burgers were still pretty good, but not $13 good. This is high capitalism at its worst. They nickel and dime you for every little thing, and you get the pleasure of serving yourself instead of sitting at the table with your friends and family engaging in conversation or Craic. A few small changes would take this from a massive disappointment to a pretty decent place. 1. Hire a knowledgeable beer-slinger who can tell you what you're drinking and what sort of taste to look for in something you've never had. But honestly paying by the Ounce and having your employees become visibly frustrated with people who don't know how to swipe the card and use the machine seems like a cool concept but in practice, it is not. Please stop that. 2. Stop making people take their drivers licenses all the way out of their wallets. That's just annoying and really is unnecessary. Most beer serving establishments in the state do not require that you do that, Stanley beer Hall is no different. This is their choice and it's annoying as hell. 3. Either make your food less disappointing or knock a buck or two off the price of your entrées. The burger was good today, but if it comes with chips from a bag there's no way in hell that's worth $13 and very few people are gonna leave feeling good about that. In summation, I live nearby and come to the Stanley all the time so I was excited to finally try this place. But it's pretty disappointing so I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. it has great potential but is squandered with a concept that goes from innovative to annoying pretty quickly. I really hope they make some changes so this beer Hall can meet its potential. read more

Came in for lunch. We had a great experience. Our server was knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. He was able to tell us all about the different beers and local sourcing for the menu. The beer I had was a perfect pilsner for a hot day. We split the burger and the brisket sandwich. Everything was high quality and tasted great. We will definitley be back. read more

Uh oh. I have to join the other former patrons of this establishment. Having just visited last weekend after a few months -- I had been there probably a dozen times since it opened, but will not venture again. The person at the front asked if I had been there before to which I answered yes -- the changes were not immediately explained, but became clear soon enough. After sitting, it took some time before someone came and dropped off menus (again not explaining the new self-pour system or even interacting with us), so when a different person finally came back to our table to take our orders, we asked about beer, and were given the explanation about the "great" new self-pour system -- and then had to go back to the front to log our IDs and get our "beer cards." We had, by this time, spent a fair spell in the restaurant without beer or food. We sat back down and eventually someone else finally came to take our orders. Oh, by the way, if you want water -- get it yourself! We then trekked to get some beer, navigating and shimmying between the tables, which were not originally installed to account for all of the movement it now takes to for everyone to trek from table to beer taps. Once at the taps, we had to squeeze past a group of space-hogging bro-mance Stapleton dads exchanging beer thoughts (yo), the first tap I tried fizzed 7 ounces of foam and was dry (never to be re-tapped during my visit, by the way), so there is 7 oz of foam I paid for. My wife is not great at pouring beer (as are some others in our party), so had a nice glass of 1/2 foam we paid for as well. The food arrived (not very fast) and was brought by, of course, yet another server, who had no idea who ordered what -- and of course just at that time, everyone at the table needed a re-fill -- so much for enjoying your hot food after you navigate back to the beer taps and back to your table -- even worse if you need to get yourself more water as well. No one at our table was remotely keen on this new set-up after all of that. I joked (I thought), saying I bet they try to tag me to tip on the beer that I had serve myself. That joke was on me, as I after having to go back to the front to wait in line in order to pay, I was presented with a nice touch-screen giving me several options to leave a set percentage tip on the ENTIRE amount (with no break out of food vs. beverage). I did leave a tip on the entire amount, but that will be last time I visit. The changes are ill-advised and do not work IMO. The concept of self-pouring is fine, but not in that space -- and not in the context of an eatery. If any of the above issues would bother you as well, just skip it. read more

It was our first time here so we learned that drinks were serve yourself which was no problem (but is part of the service normally provided by waitstaff. Important to note later when I mention the tipping). I ordered a salad which was ok but extremely overpriced ($18) for beer hall food. Our waiter did not once come by to check on us, so therefore we also sat there an extra 20 minutes waiting for the check which never came. I only realized we were supposed to pay at the counter because I saw another table doing so. As others have mentioned, the lowest tip option is 15%. What did I tip $7.50 for? The only thing our waiter did was take our order. Someone else brought the food. We got our own drinks. And our server was not attentive. Wow. What a great experience. I was visiting a friend who lived in the area and found myself alone to grab a bite and drink while her and her hubby went out for date night. I stopped by and was seated on the patio per my request because the weather was so beautiful. It was really nice and spacious, but I was still really nervous about looking like a weirdo eating alone at a table. My server, blair I believe was very friendly and funny, helped me with my whisky choice and I lost the worry about looking like an odd solo diner. The Brussels sprouts and the poutine were SALTY AF (like SO SALTY), everything came out cold and I saw the waitress roll her eyes when my mom sent her plate back. Not a fan of the new menu and the self service taps. You pay by the ounce with the new taps no matter if you pour an ounce or two of foam. Only marked beer for happy hour was Coors light and one other beer. Average was .44 or .50 per ounce, so roughly $7 to $8 a beer. At checkout they have options for tipping. Not sure why I'd tip 20% on beer I had to get myself as well as bus my own glasses. Beer I had to serve myself was overpriced and the food quality has gone down but prices have gone up. They also got rid of menu items that we liked. $78 plus an expected tip for 6 beers and some apps do not seem worth it. Will spend our money elsewhere next time. read more

Everything I have tried on the menu is absolutely delicious! Super open layout and very fun.

This place has a lot going for it. The atmosphere is like a backyard party. There's both inside and ample outdoor seating. The food is better than you'd expect from a beer hall both in selection and quality. They have a new service model so you obtain a card from the front desk, then "swipe" it next to the 20+ taps on the wall where's what you drink is automatically recorded and deducted from some sort of limit. They don't have this quite figured out. The lines to get a card can be long. To get the card "re-charged" you need to track down a staff member, and go to the tap area. You know it's time to do this when you go to fill your class and get a silly amount (like and ounce) based on what's left on your card. The Friday night were there about 4 beer taps had paper signs over them or a message on the small electronic screens saying "coming soon." During the night a few of us found our favorites had run dry. Running out of beers so frequently is disappointing if you really like something. There seemed to be quite a few food runners but just a few actual servers so flagging people down for food or re-charges was a part-time job. One crazy thing happened. It was around 6:30 pm when we caught a server to order food and were told that the kitchen had reached capacity. There was a 20-minute wait to put in new orders. Huh? Well, I guess that's better than ordering and waiting 40-45 minutes for food to be delivered. Still, that needs to be figured out or people won't want to take a chance going there for food on a busy night. read more

Stanley Beer Hall should churn their entire bar staff since they act perturbed to have to help you if they even help you at all. My wife and I were there last Wednesday evening, took a seat at a half-filled bar, and waited for over 5 minutes to speak to someone, all while the bar staff passed us by to several times to get someone their second beer or put away glassware. We went again yesterday and the bartender was surly, not helpful and, after we did order, slid our beers to us without looking at us. I want this place to succeed but there are too many other places close by that believe in good service and don't charge above-average prices for their drinks. Get it together...there's still time but I'll be enjoying other places at Stanley Marketplace in the meantime. read more

This was our first time experiencing the cool Stanley Marketplace. We were excited to go to the Stanley Beer Hall to enjoy a brew and some good food. Needless to say, the food was good, the service was good and the beer was good. Besides that, everything else sucked. It was soooooooo hot inside, where we were sat. We were a party of six and all of us left covered in sweat. The males in the party had sweat pouring off there faces. It was cooler outside (87degrees) than it was inside (91degrees). On my way to the bathroom I saw what the thermostat read and was appalled. On top of that the water was room temperature (again 91degrees). You would think that an establishment would do more to make the restaurant comfortable. Many guests were leaving after only having water because of the heat inside. I feel bad for the staff that work there. I couldn't imagine working where there is absolutely no AC. The rest of the units at the Stanley Marketplace have AC. Why don't the owners of the beer hall add AC or even some fans? read more

Caleb was an awesome server who knew a ton about the beer on tap, which is part of a very dynamic list. Seems like a great place for a large group, so bring your friends. We came out to the Stanley to check out the different offerings for dinner. We decided to give the Stanley Beer Hall a try. Service was fast and we were seated at a nice table by the windows. Service was very good and before we knew it our drink orders were in. When we received our drinks we were ready to order our meal. Since this was our first time here we tried a burger and the the fried chicken sandwich. They arrived hot and included fries or a salad as the side. I was really impressed with the chicken sandwich. I would definitely come back and get that again. The burger with juicy and not overcooked like some places are doing these days. Stanley Beer Hall impressed. read more

First and last visit. Food was good, if overpriced. The decor is industrial and somewhat spartan. No salt shakers on the table. Tepid water was provided in a bottle. The small glasses had no ice. The service was bad. I think we confused them by sitting at a table without being formally seated. We were expecting to meet some people that had not arrived yet. Sorry, but since it was our first time there we weren't familiar with the Stanley Beer Hall customs and practices. The staff was never quite able to adjust to our burdensome intrusion but they did find time to post passive-aggressive little signs about seating on all the tables around us afterwards. Not a review, per se, but a suggestion -- PUT PRICES ON YOUR WEBSITE! I am not going to go to a place that charges $15+ for a burger, but I might if it's in the up-to-$10 range. Why the mystery? I had to come here, to Yelp, to get some idea of prices, and now it seems that prices are considered too high for what you get. Just be upfront and post your prices! Sat at bar by kitchen, bald bartender immediately was rude and made me feel stupid because I asked about a lager and he replied that he doesn't drink anything that light. We decided to come here since it would satisfy everyone -a margarita for me, a beer for the hubs and Wings for the kiddo. The girl up front seemed quite overwhelmed, they needed 2 people up front. There were 2 girls ordering food, so she helped them and that took a bit. Then after 5 minutes she helped us. There was a line out the door. So this poor girl was doing it all by herself. Not the best idea. Anyway we sit down and the service got better. So the 3 stars are because it's kinda pricey for Wings $13. Yes, they are good but not like omg I'm dreaming of those finger licking wings. My margarita was not the best for $10 but oh well. What can ya do? My husband liked his beer.
