However, I have had some astonishingly bad experiences there, like the time my contacts didn't come in for seven months with no communication from the office about their status. Saw them in Feb 2024 with my daughter. The people in the showroom were not friendly or helpful. Finally got in to see the doctor (late for our appt). I don't think he actually looked up at me once (except through the tools). He definitely didn't make eye contact. I felt like a was moving on a conveyor belt - in, exam, out. Couldn't find frames we liked so we got a copy of the prescription and left. Went to Sugarhouse Standard Optical less than a week later (supposedly more frame options). Ordered 2 pairs of glasses (1 for each of us). This was also February 2024. They explained there was a back order and I should receive the glasses in 4-6 weeks (around April 1). Returned from vacation on May 8 and they told me there was a back order and I should receive the glasses in another 4-6 weeks. I cancelled on the spot and they refunded me (earning the 1-star in this review). I went to another place and ordered our glasses and we got them in 2 weeks. My eyes could never adjust to the new prescription. The new place has been working with me on getting them right. The Standard Optical prescription is WRONG! The new glasses were never going to work and now I have to appeal to my insurance so I don't have to pay for the new exam. Do NOT go here! read more

Hands down, the most HORRIBLE experience in my 53 yrs. I've been wearing contacts and eye glasses for almost 40 yrs., and these guys took the cake on HORRIBLE costumer service. They botched my glasses the first time. It took me weeks to get them to admit that the lenses were not right. They finally took them back to re-do them. I have been without glasses this entire time. My glasses are still not ready after 6 months. They've refused to give me contacts so that I can see, so I've had to purchase new contacts. The issue is that by now, my prescription is expired. Every time I call, they say it will take another couple of weeks...and so this has gone on for MONTHS. The employees have no solution, there's no accountability, they act like they're bothered, the eye doctor may as well not even exist; he has no backbone. There's nobody running business there. Complete chaos. Nobody seems to have any answers about much of anything. Customers just have to "deal with it". If I could give a negative amount of stars, I would. Go anywhere else. This company is horrid. I've been to two locations, one worse than the other. read more

My suggestion to everyone in the Bountiful area or near vicinity DO NOT go to standard optical! Their customer service is subpar they are slower then a snail they've had my order 3 plus months. I just called them and they said I will for sure get them next month. Not acceptable so I asked for a refund (nearly $900) I was transferred and nobody picked up the phone. First of all the eye doctor Was late for our appointment by 20ish minutes & the building smelled of tuna sandwiches assuming so because the person at the desk was eating, & They literally had me wait 6 months for my son's glasses to be done because they were on back order for the lenses he needed we never got update calls I had to call into the store every couple weeks to get the updates Myself! and then we finally got to get them and they are the wrong color so we were told to wait another week, and I have no doubt in my mind it's going to take longer. I've been to standard optical multiple times and it's been fine. I showed up to my appointment today though and they then decided to tell me I was now out of network. Wasted 30 minutes on the phone trying to figure it out with my insurance/sitting in their office. I purchased a Groupon for Standard Optical and booked an appointment at this location in Murray. The staff and doctors that helped me were all very professional and knowledgeable. The eye exam was very through and the doctor took the time to answer all of my questions. When it came time to pick out some new glasses the employee who helped me knew the product well and found me a pair of glasses that looked good and fit great. I picked up my glasses a week later and they have been awesome. I highly recommend this Standard Optical and I'm very pleased by the professional and excellent customer service I received. Everything ran very well, aside from the first day that I went in after calling earlier in the day asking if they take walk ins... and then had to make an appointment for the following week. That's ok, I just DGAF. The girl that was there said to browse the glasses and helped pick out a few to hold on to for the day to make my decision. Came back and they had sadly put the glasses back, but at least kept the numbers so we could find them again. The guy that originally did the exam was older and either hates life or was ready to retire five years ago and THAT obviously didn't happen. Cordial enough, but definitely not a conversationalist, nor a comedy fan. It's cool. I don't get paid as a comedian, so I probably wasn't funny enough anyway. After the exam, was told it would be 5-7 days for my contacts to arrive, and 5-10 for my glasses. Left that day with that goopy stuff in my eye that dilated them, so had a fun time getting home. They did offer the goofy sunglasses - which I summarily declined. Bad move on my part. Sad days, bro. Friday - only four days later (technically), I received a call that both my glasses and contacts were in! Went in, grabbed them, thanked the staff, and headed out. Went to get glasses for my daughter for the first time ever. They sold me a pair of glasses for $600+ only for me to find out that in other places people can get 2 pairs of glasses for $80. I find that very unprofessional and dishonest. She didn't explain to me what I was paying for nor gave me options. I called within 24 hrs to cancel my order and I got told I can't even though we won't get them til 2 more weeks. read more

I purchased two groupon for Standard Optical, one for me, one for my son. My son did okay, found some he liked at the Sugarhouse office. I should have gone there. I went to the one in Lehi, and found the staff condescending. My glasses ended up being more expensive WITH the groupon than what I could have gotten WITHOUT it somewhere else. Maybe I just picked expensive frames, but the lenses were super pricey also. And I don't really love the frames that much. I got my first contacts, backintheday, from S.O, in downtown SLC. But this time I'm looking for another place to go. read more

All the staff was extremely friendly and was very helpful with me blind butt! Even more helpful when I had to get my eyes dialated! Got some laughs in as well! Best part was my second time in I was getting my script I get told I dont have to pay for the glasses afain after a work accident! Phew! Definately will come again when I need to! read more

Doctor was good. Frustrated with the lack of customer attention/professionalism with the staff. I had an appointment in December, was very content with the doctor's attention and professionalism. He requested that try out the new prescription before ordering several boxes. The staff said they would call when the trial pair came in. A week later I call them back to see what is going on and they say "oh, we have had them for 6 days. Someone should have called you." By itself not a big deal but since it was at the end of the year, the delay ended up causing me to have to wait until January to purchase my boxes and I was not able to use my unused flex dollars to purchase them. I ended up losing out on about $200. This experience was followed up with one in July where two things happened. I called to order contacts and was told they need to follow up with my vision insurance to verify my benefit. They call me the next day and say they have left message with my provider and will get back to me. A week later I have to call them again because I have not heard from them. Find out they never followed up with the provider. They call provider, determine my benefit and tell me that purchasing extra boxes based on a supplier rebate is the best way to go. Unfortunately, they do not tell me that I do not meet the requirements of the rebate as my fitting was more than 90 days prior to purchase. I would have likely purchased fewer boxes or chose a different brand if I was properly informed. As selling product is a main part of their business, I would expect them to understand the details related to the sales of the products. I am not sure what their customer service expectations are, but they don't seem to put a lot of emphasis on proactive customer care. read more

I have been wearing corrective lens for over 28 years. I got my first pair of glasses in kindergarten. I have never had such a bad product in my life! I went to Standard Optical, the first try early November. The lady at the counter "couldn't see" my appointment and did not call me to cancel as she explained to me taking 8-12 personal calls while I picked out my frames. I asked if the next weeks appointment was solid because I had to notify my son's father in advance because of visitation. "Oh, yes!" I was told. Three days later she called to cancel the appointment again, and reshedual, which I declined. I called the customer service rep and she went and got the frames we had picked out, and hand delivered them to the Murray store, plus a 15% discount. I was impressed. I thought all our problems were over. I was wrong. My son's lens kept popping out of the frames, I had them adjusted three times, where a "sealant" was put in aka clear nail polish and then five months later because of the repeated pushing in of the lenses the frames broke. Yours would break too if you were having to put a lens in 3 plus times a day. After 4 weeks from the eye exam I got my contacts which lasted all of 6 weeks. They fogged up and I couldn't see well enough to drive going 65 mph, in my managers car. I called the rep back and she was there that Saturday to see if she needed to take them up to the lab. I called her later to ask is she could help with the getting my new lens. That last time I heard from her. the doctor asked two times for the office staff to call the old doctor to see what my old contacts were made of and they have yet to to do it. It took SIX months for me to get my contacts! i am legally blind without them, plus I have to wear sun glases outside so you would think this would be taken care of ASAP, but the best I was given at the store I was a "sorry" and smile. I paid $500 to have two frames not keep the lenses in (mine too) and to wait 6 months for my contacts. If you have bad eyes like mine, you need to go else where are you are going to be waiting a long time. ****Up date**** My son's glassed are junk! The repalcment pair is already streched out! The murray location has been nothing but problems for me for the past year. They don't know how to bill their own insurance company. They took a patient and her daughter in ahead of me on my appt last year, because even though I had been sitting there the whole time, right in front of them, they "didn't see me" When I called to say I was running 5-10 minutes late, the office mgr made me reschedule. Yesterday, when I arrived at 3:45 for my (re-scheduled) 4:00 appt, they said I had cancelled. They would get me in at 5:40 and acted like they were doing me a favor. I tried to get a free pair of colored contacts in Dec for the holidays from a coupon I had. The office mgr (Again) said I could schedule an appt, pay the co-pay and fitting fee, or wait til Jan when my insurance kicked in. gee thanks. She was just sooo toxic. I will not continue with the location and there are too many options to bother finding another Standard Optical. I gave it a year to improve and it just kept getting worse. Their manager needs to find a job that doesn't work with the public, or take some customer service training classes. Better yet, bring back Becky. She was Great! read more
