I've been meaning to check out Standard Hat Works for a while, so I wasn't going to miss the opportunity and go anywhere else. I was greeted right away by a sales associate. She was very helpful. Only took me a few minutes to pick one out. Then Cameron came out and shaped it beautifully while having some friendly conversation. It's like stepping back in time. Well, let me tell you that if you go to Standard Hat Works and have a hand crafted lid made especially for you then you will never want to take it off. Robynn Shayne was in need of a fresh hat for her official debut at Music Fest in Steamboat Springs Colorado this coming January. Cameron Morris is the owner and operator of SHW. Not only is he an awesome human being, but quite the exceptionally talented hat maker!! He handcrafted a unique and beautiful hat for Robynn that she couldn't wait to wear. She wore it to two sold out shows at Gruene Hall and Coupland Dance Hall. Her new and old fans just loved her new hat and just had to give her as many compliments as she could handle. Going in Standard Hat Works is stepping back in time. They have all of the original cast iron hat making equipment, steamers, sewing machines etc but the real time travel is the knowledge and service. Cameron, the owner, spends time explaining in detail every process in the restoration of a classic or making of a new custom hat. I would put his 100X hats up against those I have seen at double the price. He has the good taste and attention to detail to match the pickiest customer and the craftsmanship to deliver the product.
