Baltimore ravens bar in the mission! Solid beer on tap and hot dogs for 3 dollars. There is also Mezcla on the outside grill making additional bites for purchase. The bbq pork grilled cheese definitely hit the spot. Very laid back vibes and allows dogs!

View from parklet.

Been on my to-do list. Inviting roles doors opening on to a decent stretch of an otherwise somewhat sketchy part of the Mission -- it's sort of a bridge between the polished parts of Valencia street and the islands of culinary surprise doting the blocks between Mission and Potrero. Famous beer list. Heavy on IPA. Sigh. I'm over those. So I tried the English brown and opted to sit outside away from sports fans and in e nice breeze. All aspects were thoroughly enjoyable, especially the view fog rolling in over Portola drive in the distance.

We love a good brewery and when we arrived this looked fantastic- great music, fun vibe and communal tables with a great crowd of people. But for me- I was not a fan though granted some of these gripes are personal preferences. One - they had a food truck outside -and the smell I hate most in the world is cooking oil - and that is all I could smell! It was strong, pungent and nails on a chalkboard to me - I wanted to get the heck out of there before my clothes smelled like the bar!! It was just disgusting!! Second I love a good IPA - and these were not good IPAs at all! If you had put my beer in front of me and asked me to name the style - I would have not been able to identify this as an IPA - did not care for mine and left it and did not care for my husbands either! It was also really cold inside so for me just not a fun experience! Others seemed to be having a blast so it's definitely got fans just not me!!

NITRO HORCHATA CREAM - 11/10, but won't be for everyone

TLDR: If you like beer and live anywhere in the City, this is a must check out at for either a) a stop when on a bar crawl in the Mission b) a stop on an SF brewery crawl OR c) a warm, sunny afternoon any given day of the year ("warm" and "sunny" being the key words here). If you love beer and are visiting the City, this is a must stop. Longer: From their website: "We are throwing fastballs here. High quality ingredients. A wide array of beer styles made true to form. We welcome all people to the brewery and look forward to serving you." One of the co-owners has been home brewing since the early aughts (maybe even late 90s*shrug*), and Standard Deviant as we know it opened their doors in 2016, and at the time they were one of ~20 craft breweries in the city. I drank plenty of PBR and Natty (light, and, regrettably, Ice) back back back in the college day, but toward the end (~2009) and until just recently (2023), removed beer and anything tangential to gluten from my diet. Now that I've figured out I have Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency and my boyfriend loves (Mexican and craft) beer, SD has been on the top of our list to check out. Boyfriend saw the nitro horchata at Brass Tax in Hayes Valley on Halloween, but we didn't have a chance to try it, so when a friend wanted to meet for a drink halfway between ours and theirs, Standard Deviant was it! We ventured here on a random Friday in early Nov. Inside wasn't wall to wall bodies, but there did seem to be some sorta office gathering that took up a handful of the long tables on one side of the room. Brace yourself for more of that over the holiday season. Even without that large group, there were plenty of groups inside, and one of ~6-10 outside. 14th isn't the best street for...enjoying the scenery, so don't expect sweeping city views. Also, don't be surprised if traffic is absolutely bonkers flying by you. If city sounds aren't for you, pull up a table inside. Or better yet, check out their Ferry Building location (once it opens... soon?) This is an ~order at the bar, open or close your tab, go on your way~ typa establishment. No exaggeration on their "wide array of beer styles made true to form" statement. Boyfriwnd sampled the nitro horchata to ensure the flavor profile was good enough to consume in a large quantity. I ended up getting a flight of IPAs because I generally like them (esp Hazy IPAs), thought it'd be fun to compare / contrast, and def get analysis paralysis when considering so many options. Good thing Boyfriend also likes IPAs, because even the Hazy was not my cup of tea. Oops. Another good thing: I really love the nitro horchata! So we ended up switching and we were both happy campers. I'm tempted to get a whole jug of the nitro horchata... but there's no way I'd drink it in time for it to not get flat. Once thing that would have helped me; one of those lil wooden paddle flight holder thingamabobs + somewhere to write which glass is which. I'm a visual learner, so telling me the info goes in one ear and out the other (LOL). I guess it's a good thing I didn't like any of the beers + we know well enough they darker the IPA, the higher the alc content, and could deduce which was which. We noticed there was someone selling tacos(?) inside+to the right of the bar. IIRC, 2 basic tacos out of a hot plate for $10. We hadn't eaten, but opted for waiting to grab fresherish, hot food at our next stop. I need to find out when they expect to stop brewing the nitro horchata and try to get back for another pint before I lose the chance!

In my old neighborhood of the Mission is a bit different from other parts and other sides within the Mission District in San Francisco. On 14th street within a block away on each side of Mission street there were some movies filmed like the classic movie" 48 Hrs " with the Woodward alley scene and the movie" Blue Jasmine" in the apartment scenes on South Van Ness and along with other movies shot nearby. The neighborhood was quite the street cinema in different genres of everyday life with many different soundtracks. One place to congregate and grab a drink today on 14th street is the Standard Deviant Brewing. This place has lots of seating and is a good spot to grab a drink and hangout and watch a game with lots of televisions or play drinking games ( with board games). This is not officially a sports bar but has the environment and the space for almost any occasion . I came here for a private launch party event. Standard Deviant Brewing offers a variety of beers which they brew in house with big brewery tanks in the back of the bar. Since October is almost over I decided to try their Oktoberfest beer which had a smooth taste. They also have Barrel aged beer like the Nitro Bourbon Stout and the Wine Farmhouse Saison . My old neighborhood always had flavor with the drink, food and people bringing San Francisco a different ingredient The Mission is different all around inside and outside the standard deviant

Really dig this brewery in the Mission. They def nailed it on the vibes and welcoming all types of people. Beer was really solid, had 3 different beers and was really diggin them all. Clean bathrooms, clean location and happy staff. That means a lot!

After exploring the Valencia area and having dinner, I rushed to get to try Standard Deviant Brewing before they closed. Thankfully right off the bat I could tell I was going to love the place. There were a group of guys blocking the entrance, I asked what was going on and they said an incident happened and they were making sure another guy didn't come back. Everyone including them was super welcoming and nice that evening, including the bartender Adrianna. I stood at the wood bar (the place is a tree and target theme) and ordered a couple beers. The place was welcoming and cozy with soft twinkle lights yet has high ceilings. The decor is mostly pop culture. The view behind the bar is the brewery itself. They have a lot of canned selections to go and you can make your own 6 pack. I was thankful once I was there I was not rushed to leave, she stayed open for everyone still enjoying the beer. I had a flight and tried all the lighter styles. A group of guys next to me bought a round of kolsch for everyone in mini stanges, the traditional German glass for the beer although smaller and done as a shot. It was a super fun serving method I haven't seen anywhere else. I absolutely loved my visit and the beer; thanks to the bartender and other customers for making it a highlight of my recent trip.

A fun place to hang out with a nice selection of beers! They have food as well and board/card games . Plenty of space to hang out and catch up. Also really loved the different art they had hanging on the walls all around.

I was attending an event nearby and was pleased to find Standard Deviant Brewing right across the street. It doesn't look like much from outside, but it has so much character inside, a nice and spacious layout, plenty of seating (picnic style tables and wooden barrels inside, as well as outdoor parklet seating), several TV's, quirky wall art, and shuffleboard, which we enjoyed playing as we sipped on a couple beers. We tried the Tree People IPA (recommended by the bartender over Naytorade) and Nitro Horchata Cream Ale. Both were pretty good, and we would have stayed to try more if we had more time before our event. They don't have a whole lot of beers on their menu, but the quality of what we tried was decent. And the venue has a nice laid-back atmosphere, with good service. I'd certainly return.

Jennifer N.

It's a fun little spot to get beer, they have a decent selection and plenty of large tables for groups. Also, keep in mind that a flight of beer is not your normal flight size, it is legit full pours. We got to try a lot on the menu but my personal favorite was the horchata beer.

Standard Deviant almost feels like a neighborhood dive but with a spacious feel. From the outside you don't expect much but the inside opens into a welcome brewery with lots to offer. Most of the menu is fairly standard (no pun intended) with all the staples - a lager, stout, heff, a few IPAs, etc. The creativity comes out in their aged section. Try the cognac brown ale or their imperial stout to see where they're pushing flavor. The staff is friendly and happy to help you select something or welcome you in if you're new.

I know here is SF and this type of behavior is common now. But this place is counter-order only and they only got like 2 servers. So I have to walk over to the counter, wait in line, order my 14 oz beer and small burger with fries, then you charge me a random 5% because it was too hard integrate this to your regular prices. Also, as the usual sneakiness of all of these places, that 5% is added after the tax, which makes it effectively more than 5%. - And as for the cherry on top, they let dogs go and sit on chairs indoors. Having dogs indoors is already a CA health violation, but here is SF, so what you gonna do. But having dogs on chairs is just another level. - Finally, on the only nice note about this place, the kitchen staff looked very on point and clean. Burgers not so much though.

After visiting a couple of art galleries in San Francisco on Saturday, January 11, 2025, I…read moreconvinced DJ that we should dine out in the city since we were already out. Remembering that he had been wanting to check out 21st Amendment for some years now, I suggested that we go here. DJ was immediately sold. After calling two to three times to no avail, we temporarily parked nearby, so that DJ could walk in to check if they were still open and serving dinner. Thankfully, they were open, but they didn't hear the phone ring. We reparked, then arrived shortly before 7:30 PM and were seated immediately. I had been at 21st Amendment before for a very enjoyable lunch with some colleagues back in November, 2019 and the place looked exactly how I remembered it. Venue: 4 stars. With concrete floors and walls with wooden tables and chairs & benches, the restaurant has a rustic and industrial air. Upon entry, patrons are greeted by the bar with seating and its attendants. They have an open kitchen from where the cooks can nod greetings to you. The entire space, including the women's restroom is kept clean & tidy. DJ's only complaint was that he did not enjoy some of the techno music that would play in between the salsa and reggaeton songs both of which I was totally digging. Food: 3 stars. In addition to the TALL HAT that DJ ordered and fully enjoyed, below-listed are the food items that we had. Soup of the Day, Gumbo ($7 cup) - I was given a couple of complimentary slices of toasted bread to accompany my New Orleans stew which were nice to dip in the broth and eat. I'm not quite sure what kind of meat was used, but there was no sausage. 21st Amendment's version of gumbo is more like a soup rather than a stew as the broth was not as thick as usual. The flavour was still good, but I did wish that there was okra. When I was at the bottom of the cup and asked how I liked the gumbo, I commented that I enjoyed it, but was surprised that it was completely absent of rice. Our server, Luis, went back to the kitchen to inquire, returned, informing me that the kitchen admitted to forgetting it, so with a new cup including rice in hand, he served the second serving to me and comped the cup from our bill. Wow, I was very impressed by how the matter was handled. Veggie Burger ($16) with Garlic Fries ($2) - DJ said that the sriracha flavour of the aioli was light/faint. He would have preferred a little more punch of spice from the condiment. The garlic fries were not bad. Baja Fish Tacos with mixed greens ($19) - The two tacos were very generous in portions and the fish were perfectly fried golden. I found the cod to be fishy in taste, so I gave my second taco to DJ. He did not notice any fishy flavour which is very interesting because he is a vegetarian and I expected him to notice it much more than I did. Weird. Meat Lover's PIZZA ($20) - We ordered two of these twelve inch pies for to-go for the boys. Both said that they were good. Service: 5 stars. As I mentioned before, Luis was our waiter and he delivered stellar service. As a former server, myself, I noticed immediately the excellent care we were given by him. The entire night, I kept commenting to DJ on every moment that Luis demonstrated his top-notch customer service. We will definitely need to come back...when Luis is working!
