I never thought at 24 years of age I would need to go to a Chiropractor. But I can say with all honesty I completely trust Doctor Stakes and his staff. I tell everybody that I swear Doc is a magician, because I walk in feeling terrible, then leave feeling ten times better! The whole experience is such a wonderful thing that I genuinely look forward to my visits. I was in a car accident last year, and since then I've had a lot of back issues. I went to "Doc" starting 27 years ago after a wreck that left my body in great pain and my emotions fluctuating. I was uneasy about going to a chiropractor, but Doc answered all my questions and showed me his cool "gadgets". After the adjustment I went to the "roller table" to roll out my spine. This is a most useful process for your spine and nerves, but I just enjoy it 'cause it feels great! I continue to get monthly maintenance adjustments from Doc because I want to stay in proper alignment and good health. I have learned from Dr. Stakes and from his assistant Vi much valuable information about my body and how to keep it healthy and nourished. Dr. Stakes and his assistant Vi ( she has been with him well over 20 years, that tells you something ) run a very accommodating and efficient office. Every effort will be made to see each and every patient. That is only a minor complement as I have been seeing Dr. Stakes for many years and have never had surgery of any kind and do not take any prescription medications. Dr. Stakes has been my health expert since 1989! His gentle, low- impact and highly precise chiropractic adjustments are so impressive because he is truly an expert using the activator method. It's amazing the instant relief I get from a few perfectly placed "clicks"! I originally chose Dr. Stakes because he is an atlas orthogonal chiropractor, kind of a big word for a simple, yet imperative concept that made total sense for me. That is, if the top bone (the atlas bone) is out of place, nothing else can be in true alignment. Dr. Stakes and staff are God sent! I cannot express enough how he has helped me. Not only has he made sure I am and stay physically pain free but was also able to keep me off of antidepressants when I went thru a very painful loss in my family. I've been a well satisfied patient of Dr Stakes and his practice for several years. Dr Stakes, Janet, Vi and Kelly are a great team! Having degenerative discs in my neck, Dr Stakes' gentle Activator method has been a life saver. Recently, I had a heart attack which led to cardiac by-pass surgery. Anyone familiar with that surgery will understand the painful healing of the sternum and repositioned ribs that follows. Because Dr Stakes uses such a gentle and low-impact method of care, I was able to go to him at about 2 weeks post-surgery. His adjustments got me through those early weeks when it seemed any movement would move those ribs out of place. As a portrait artist, much of my time is spent painting at the easel. This often results in neck stiffness and shoulder pain. Dr. Stakes is able to relieve those symptoms which keeps me working. When I initially starting treatment with Dr. Stakes, I was having a lot of lower back pain and just generally didn't feel well in addition to the neck/ shoulder discomfort. Dr. Stakes is the best in Austin! He has been treating me for my left shoulder for almost two years. The pain was a 10, now it is almost not there.
