I just picked up my glasses from here and they are amazing! I have my own glasses frame that I wanted to get lenses for, but apparently my frame is very complicated in design. One place I went to was unable to do it and cancelled my order. So that's how I found Stahl Optical. I brought my frame in and they asked me what I wanted and gave me a quote pretty quickly. They also looked at my frame and knew exactly what to do to make the lenses for them. Most places also take about 2 weeks to have lenses made, but they finished mine in under a week. That right there is excellent. I work in the eyecare industry, so I know the difference between quality and mediocre work. The quality of work done by Stahl is outstanding. The edges of the lenses were so clean, the coating was done well, and the clarity of the lenses is brilliant. I haven't been here for an eye exam, but I'm sure the doctors here do a great job as well. I highly recommend Stahl Optical if you want quality glasses or if you have a unique frame that needs special attention to detail. The opticians here are top notch and can handle even the most difficult jobs. And the prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality. I know this review sounds biased, but I am just excited as to how well my glasses were made here. read more

I've been using Stahls for a few years now and have probably had 3 or 4 exams (the in house docs have always been great, esp Dr. Haley) lenses changouts, new frames, sunglass attachments, etc. The staff is friendly and I feel pretty much at home there. I know right where the bathrooms are! Comfy chairs for waiting and a lot of interesting frames and a cool exhibit of glasses through the ages. Enough cool visuals to keep your attention while you wait. The front desk crew have nice, attentive folks. I'm writing this rare review because I and Stahls became the victim of Murphy's law during my last lenses order. Twice, the lab sent over some Coke bottle bottoms. Stahls had to eat those. and I feel bad about that. So, they went to a different lab. This all took about 2 months. I recognize some "Karens" out there would blow their top, stage a nice hissy and storm out. Not me. First, I could clearly see they were working hard to correct the situation. Second, I guess I've developed some patience over the years. I've been in that situation many times in my career: trying to make things right with the customer. It's no cakewalk folks and you really should try to walk a mile or two in their shoes. Finally, the "right" lenses came in. I had ordered the magnetic sunglass clip on (which is awesome, btw) but I had ordered brown and they came back dark grey with mirrored(!) lenses. Frankly, I had no desire for either. In retrospect, however, the mirrored lenses make me look like Morphius, so I now think they are kind of boss. I had ordered some pretty close to top of the line stuff, so the bill was hefty. I made a healthy down payment and left thinking "these guys have already lost money on me so I'm not going to hound them". I had every right to, but that is MY disposition (and I wish more people had it). So, on the way home, I noticed that I thought the lenses were getting darker. When I got home on this sunny day, I discovered the lab had sent then transition lenses (which I used to deplore but they have gotten MUCH better since the 80's and 90's). I did NOT order that. So, I called Debi and explained my situation. Basically, color wise I guess, nothing was right. Let's just say this: Stahls bent over backwards to make me happy and in the end, they did and I am. Very happy. I applaud them. NOT the type of service and care you would get at most boutiques and certainly not the service and care you would get with a chain (which is NONE, ZERO, NADA). Debi and her crew understand old fashioned customer service and will make it right. Those kind of businesses are getting to be, so unfortunately, few and far between. I'm grateful to have them as my eyesight partner. I wish them the best and hope you will step inside their cozy office and ask some questions. They won't pressure you. However, they will probably find something for you that you didn't know you needed! You need it now though! Exceptional customer service. Cannot recommend enough. read more

Since I don't live in Spokane, I've never actually been a customer of Stahl Optical. But if I did live in town, I would absolutely use them whenever possible. I travel weekly for work, and while on a recent trip, I was feeling some discomfort and pain in my eye. I called Stahl on a whim to ask if a doctor could examine me -- extremely last minute on a Friday -- and I was informed by Nikki (or Nicki) that they do not have a doctor on staff. At 3:30pm, before the weekend, you'd think that would be the end of it. However, what happened next blew my mind. She proceeded to ask about some of my symptoms while contacting at least three optometrist offices in the area on my behalf. She kept me on hold on the office phone, while calling the doctors on her personal cellphone, bouncing back and forth between the lines until she secured me an appointment. Her knowledge of optometrists in the area was invaluable, as I don't think I would've been able to find an appointment on my own, given the timeframe. It was an unbelievably kind, helpful, human moment that I certainly wasn't expecting, but I'm sure glad I received. Thank you, Nikki (or Nicki lol)! read more

I Ordered super-dark, gradient tint lenses for my own sunglass frames. In October. $385 (lenses only.) They assure customer satisfaction with a guarantee that they will "redo" them if anything isn't perfect. Went to pick them up and SURPRISE! The owner apologized he had wrecked them just that morning-- misread the numbers and cut the left for the right and vice versa. Sigh - OK honest mistake. At least he owned it. Redo #1. 3 weeks later, go in to pick up - and they aren't dark. At all. To illustrate, I could FULLY see my eyes behind my glasses. His wife/sales gal totally agreed, and said "Of course we will remake them - DARK! You want them dark. They need to be dark! They're SUNGLASSES!" Redo#2. Long delays with the holidays. Finally get the call and go in to get them, pay off the balance, and leave and find they are NO different - exactly the same. Little to no sun block. Still can see my eyes, AND my lines around my eyes! I have never had sunglasses you could see through, Gave it a week and called them to report. Owner returns call - obviously very irritated, contentious and SO condescending - saying he won't remake them, that he "remade them 3 times" trying to please me, and that they "can't make them any darker." And that "He's spent as much time and money on this as he's going to." I mentioned that the first redo was HIS fault cuz he botched the cut, not mine. He Completely denied it, saying it never happened (?!?!?!) And he dismissed the fact that they sold me (and I paid for) apparently something "their lab" is not able to make. OR REMAKE!. If they couldn't make them dark enough to be effective sunglasses, they just should have told me up-front and I would have gone somewhere else. If they couldn't "REDO" them darker the second time around, they should have said so then, and I would have gone somewhere else. I am out nearly $400 for SUNGLASS lenses that are useless in shielding sun. This is no way to treat a good customer (I have bought other glasses and lenses from them in the recent past. I feel lied to, ripped off,put down, and blamed for what was totally not my fault. I don't mean any harm to these folks by this review, but I hope they will read this and reflect on this whole transaction and realize that I am not the one to blame here. I have done everything in good faith, trusting them at their word, coming back again and again, and paying them in full as promised. And I still don't have a decent pair of sunglasses. : ( Now I have to start over with a new optician - have the tint on these lenses measured (I kinda doubt they were ever redone, actually,) tell my story and see what someone else can do. While traveling from out of state, I misplaced my contacts. With many more days of adventuring I did not want to wear my glasses. I called my optometrist to inquire how to get my prescription to another eye center along my travel route. I found Stahl Optical through google. My first experience there was great. A woman was friendly and greeted me with a smile. Unfortunately, I went there to pick up my glasses and one of the ladies at the desk was rude in questioning me about my insurance. It was as though she thought I was just trying to get a free pair of glasses, when in all actuality I had full coverage. This woman never even looked up my information and wasn't assisting me she was just budding into my conversation with the other worker. The woman at the desk had an unpleasant tone as she said "what do you mean its taken care of? Those aren't free." I am sad to say that I will not be returning because of the lady behind the desk. read more

Amazing optical shop with amazing people to help you. I have purchased glasses here before and will continue to do so. The selection is incredible, quality frames not cheap garbage, experienced knowledgeable customer service people to help you get the best fit and correct types of lenses, by which I mean Crizal etc, transitioning lenses, bifocals or trifocals. When your glasses arrive they take their time with you for the correct adjustments so that everything is comfortable and correct. I rarely give reviews how ever felt it was important to share my experiences at Stahl Optical. I have always gotten my glasses at a nearby competitor. I tried stahl's and was fitted with a pair of glasses and got some shades as well. the service was fast and professional and I enjoyed my time while being fitted. The entire staff was helpful, welcoming, and answered all of my questions. Because of this positive treatment both my immediate and extended family now wear their glasses.
