A Bosnian sandwich shop is a culinary change of pace. One of the best dive bars in all of Boise, the Navajo Room, is also in the same strip.

This theatre is very cute and has a nice layout that's easy to navigate where you're going.. I also appreciate the bar with a fair selection of canned drinks and they do a couple themed drinks for the shows. One is typically an Italian soda that can be be made with a shot of vodka or nonalcoholic. I think it would serve them well to add a 3rd option for themed cocktails but I can see why they want to keep it simple for the bar employees who get quite busy on show nights. One down fall is they have no food concessions whatsoever. They put out a small plate of store bought cookies at the bar for intermission but they go super fast... and they are just the Keebler cookies so really nothing all that special so be sure to eat before you come here. The shows they put on are great quality especially the one my fiancé and I went to most recently.. Santa Clause conquers the martians! It's honestly the BEST stage prodution I've seen thus far and I've seen A LOT of amazing theatre productions!! I got a great deal for this show as I volunteered for a day here recently at the box office. When you volunteer they'll give you a free show ticket. I'm not sure if I'll volunteer as a box office attendant here again... while I overall enjoyed it, things did get overwhelming up front at one point and I needed assistance from my supervisor who was helping out at the bar. She definitely gave me a hard time for that after my volunteer shift was up but I do understand her frustration with me, I can't blame her for wanting everything to run smoothly when i forgot how to do a couple tasks that she showed me during training. I recommend being a volunteer for community theatre but unless you are very tech savvy, I'd suggest volunteering as an usher at Boise Little Theater instead as that's much easier and you can still see a show for free. This IS what the matinee is for, getting them accustomed to being at the ballet. If they can sit quietly for 45 minutes at a time, do nit bring them to an evening performance! The event center is beautiful and so big! We sat towards the back half of the event center and it was so nice being able to see the screen and stage. Regardless at how tall the person in front of me was, the staggering of the seats didn't block my view. I'm pretty sure no matter where you are sitting, it's still a great seat. There was a 20 minute intermission for the singer and band members to take a break. Of course we headed to concessions to grab a drink. It was nice how they had it set up. The line went really fast and guests were being helped at a great pace. We were able to get our goodies and head back to our seats pretty quickly. I know there are a lot of events that happen here. I need to be more proactive and see what they are. The venue is so pretty here. The seating is comfortable and nice. It was cool to have my first experience at the Morrison Center tonight. I look forward to coming back again soon for another one.

Amazing local community theater with a very long history, a very long list of shows (the website…read morelists them all). I was in town with family and we saw A Christmas Story (musical). It was a big, long show to put on for a cast that was clearly a mix of inexperienced and experienced theater performers, simple dance routines, inconsistent pacing, and cheaper sets, but they really gave it their all and carried it the whole way, along with a pre-recorded soundtrack that everyone timed with very well. The drinks and food are cheap compared to my home town (Chicago), staff very welcoming and nice seats with wide aisles. It's great to see whole families coming to the theater and engaging well, which is critical to any community.

They are basically spoofs of well known movies or theater productions, and we were there to see a special encore performance of "Scrooge: Older but Miser". The setting is small and intimate, compared to performances at the Morrison Center or Nampa Civic, but it's still big enough to accommodate large groups. The performers and the playhouse staff are extremely friendly and personable. They mingle with the crowd, actually getting to know you before the shows. Of course, once they do know a little about you, it just may end up a part of the show! I can't sing, or rather, I shouldn't sing, but before the show opened I was at the back of the room, with the performer who played Bob Cratchit, and he asked me to join him in a round of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I was totally game! But he forgot one of the verses and it drove me nuts, so I gave him a bad time about it. Then during the actual performance, guess who got pointed out to the whole audience and had to sing! LOL Everyone had an amazing evening and we are looking forward to seeing more productions here. From the very first time I walked into District Coffee in downtown Boise, I could tell this place…read morewas special. The staff are incredibly friendly, professional, and genuinely kind. What really stood out to me is that they greet you like they are truly happy to see you. Even on my first visit they made me feel welcome, and now every time I walk in they greet me like a familiar face and make me feel right at home. That kind of consistency and warmth is rare and says a lot about the people who work there. The space itself is fantastic. It is always spotless, the ambiance is relaxed, the music is great, and there are so many comfortable places to sit depending on your mood. Sometimes I relax on the couches, other times I grab a table or sit near the window and enjoy the view. They also have plenty of outdoor seating, which is perfect on sunny Boise days and makes it a great place to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. It is one of those places where you can easily spend time working, meeting someone, or just enjoying a great cup of coffee. They also have great food, which makes it even better whether you are stopping in for a quick bite or staying a while. Everything I have tried has been fresh and really good. You can also tell that management cares about both their employees and their customers. When a place is run well it shows through the staff, the atmosphere, and the overall experience, and District Coffee absolutely delivers. I am new to Boise and this is one of the first places I recommend when someone asks where to get great coffee or find a comfortable place to spend some time. I have also had great experiences at their other locations. Boise is lucky to have them.

I would like to start by saying that this was easily, hands-down, the best beer festival I've ever…read morebeen to (and this ain't my first rodeo). For me, personally, it was amazing for a few different reasons. There was the game element (yeah, nobody knew what they were drinking until after 7 p.m.; the event started at 4), the fact that beer is, indeed, a social lubricant (leading to so much good conversation with strangers), great food, music, games, proximity to 10 Barrel and some of the best beer-appreciating folks in Boise. To begin with, the tastings were divided into four (or was it five?) states, but were only identified as "State 1," "State 2," etc. Each tap was assigned a number, so you had a lot of folks running around and asking each other, "Did you like 19?" "No, but 17 was incredible!" At first glance, I thought this was a lame gimmick. Boy, oh, boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. It kept us interested and forced us to really taste each beer thoughtfully. Not to brag, but wifey and I guessed #1 (Ballast Point's Grapefruit Sculpin), which meant we knew State 1 was California. We also totally called the fact that State 3 was Oregon, with its piney, citrusy, almost juicy hops. This was an IPA-lover's dream-come-true. It was so epic and beautiful, and I'm really just talking about the beer itself. Next, the company we found ourselves in was seriously epic. As we entered, a gentleman (purveyor of Sandpoint's own Pour Authority) approached me and asked if I was from Portland, since he saw my Rogue t-shirt with the silhouette of OR state on it. This led to a lively conversation about beer across the PAC NW and an invitation to sample at his establishment. I really appreciated how he continued to check in with us, provide recommendations and feedback, and generally share in the friendly company of he and his wife. We also met Nick, a beer enthusiast who'd already been to the Oktoberfest that day (it was a little lame, apparently) and who spoke to us about the tribulations of being a seriously-beer-loving parent and also Star Wars films, new and old. My wife and I, who met at Whittier College, met a gentleman who attended during two of the years we were actually there. I met a fellow Caldwell School District employee that I'd never met before, and in that way got to "network" a little bit (nice to meet you, Ms. K). I cannot overemphasize how friendly and genuine these people were. Of course, there were the obligatory "grown ass" adults (yes, men and women) who were fine with cutting in line. Remember fourth grade, guys? "No cuts, no butts, no coconuts." However, you have these people at any beer festival and I'm sure they're already aware that there is a special circle in hell for people who cut in line. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and the single best-organized event I've ever attended in the state of Idaho, which includes the gigantic Barley Bros. beer fests that used to take place at Anne Morrison and Kleiner Park. The food looked great (sorry, we'd eaten beforehand, but there were finger steaks, pulled pork sammies and pizza by the slice); the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and funny; the event was just seriously well-coordinated. The beer was amazing; we didn't dislike a single thing we tried and pretty much loved most of the brews. Maybe the most underrated part of this event was the cost: $5 for a glass (not the crappy, plastic ones we've received at other festivals, but a legit tulip glass with the odd Beer Wars guy logo) and $1 per 4 oz. taste! That equates to a $4 pint, a good deal anywhere for craft deliciousness, and you don't have to drink like a fiend. My wife and I actually split all of our tastes, so we could try everything and still make it home. I wish this was a regular event, so I could say, "Check it out!" I can only hope this happens again next year, but at that time, I won't be recommending you go (more beer and open space for me). Ten Barrel, I salute you and your crafty ways.
