I scored a good deal on Groupon, picked up a bottle of wine, and we headed to the studio on a Friday night. We got to use the airbrush and even spray paint on our master pieces this time. And, as always, Alex made the night fun, engaging, and creative, and we all ended up with a great painting of happy little trees to take home and brag about. Now, can I remember everything we did? Paint, scavenger hunt, paint, view a couple short videos of Alex's work (amazing), paint, roof view of Boise and foothills, paint, and adding a layer to the splatter paint room. Bring plenty of wine because it's going to be a long, fun evening.

The studio is awesome, but it was Alex & Mandy that made the night so much fun! The hours went by so fast, w/ drying times occupied by a scavenger hunt, adding our mark to the group paintings and a beer break. The evening ended w/ Alex's surprise piano solo! Though my husband had a bit of painting experience, my daughter & I hadn't ever done a painting. We were so surprised that we could end up with a real painting that we liked enough to display! We had so much fun and even my husband said he'd want to do it again! That is the ultimate endorsement!

The teacher was kind, but not very effective at guiding the group. She also made some awkward jokes and would laugh at them herself, which made things feel a bit uncomfortable. When people needed help, she wasn't very responsive or useful. I've been to quite a few of these over the years, and this was by far the weakest instruction I've experienced. That said, shoutout to the woman working the bar--she was incredibly helpful and definitely helped salvage the experience!

The bulk of what Happy Hour Homemaker does is custom works or DIY classes. She teaches guests how to create their own signs. She could make watching paint dry the highlight of a child's week! Her home is amazingly decorated, unique and fun everywhere you look. MaryAnn gave the girls option on what they'd like to make, which the girls loved being able to chose. She explained everything in the way young girls could understand. The girls were very engaged, enjoying the entire experience. While waiting for our clay to bake, the girls chose clay resin jewelry, MaryAnn started a dance party for them and then provided another coloring art project to entertain them during the cooking/cooling time. I will definitely be going back, not just with my daughter but also our girl scout troop! Should MaryAnn decide to hold a summer camp, my daughter will be there!!
