She was very kind, patient, and helpful. My daughter and I each made our own pieces, working side by side. I was so very impressed how our projects turned out. Often, my daughter gets frustrated, noting that my projects turn out 'better' than her own. I try to explain how age, attention to detail, and the like affect our projects, but she still pouts. Well, this project was so well planned and easy to execute that my daughter's turned our looking fabulous! Later, family members had difficulty determining whom had made which. My daughter and I had such a great time that we are scheduled for another class already! I highly recommend this business, experience and the owner Kate!

I took my daughter, 7, and two friends to make jewelry with MaryAnn…read more Let me just start with how lovely, energetic and fun that MaryAnn was. She could make watching paint dry the highlight of a child's week! Her home is amazingly decorated, unique and fun everywhere you look. MaryAnn gave the girls option on what they'd like to make, which the girls loved being able to chose. She explained everything in the way young girls could understand. The girls were very engaged, enjoying the entire experience. While waiting for our clay to bake, the girls chose clay resin jewelry, MaryAnn started a dance party for them and then provided another coloring art project to entertain them during the cooking/cooling time. I will definitely be going back, not just with my daughter but also our girl scout troop! Should MaryAnn decide to hold a summer camp, my daughter will be there!!

I stumbled into Happy Hour Homemaker by chance on a Wednesday. They share a space with Rocky Mountain Balloons (Three women owners - what what!!). The front of her shop has a nice array of local gifts to buy. Some are sourced from other makers, a lot are made by her. They are often her tutorial piece from a class that she has taught. The bulk of what Happy Hour Homemaker does is custom works or DIY classes. She teaches guests how to create their own signs. Be it for your own business, your home, your office, as a gift - - there are so many possibilities. You can do an individual appointment or have her host a party (some day - when we're allowed to gather again). She also does DIY gift packs. She creates the beautiful wood pieces and sends you home with signs, paint, brushes and instructions. When I was there, she was working on some really cute Christmas kits. I believe she also has a vinyl printer and can print a custom sticker for your sign (but double check with the business)

We had a great time experiencing hands-on glass shaping on a Saturday afternoon. Matt was able to…read moreget us in with short notice and everyone had an excellent time. Matt was an excellent instructor that's both an artist and a innovative craftsman. He provides as little or as much assistance each person needs to have a great time, while maintaining safety as the highest priority. This was an opportunity for our group to get more hands-on experience than we've ever had at a commercial glass blowing operation. There's also an element of background and glass theory that provides each student with a deeper understanding of the grade and characteristics of glass. Don't miss out on this unique experience working with glass with a native Idahoan that's patient and committed to his craft.

Are you looking for a welcome arts space for kids through adults that has every single medium you…read morecan think of? This is Catalyst Arts Collaborative. We've been going for 2.5 years including kids clay class, adult clay on the pottery wheel, spring break arts camp, and their watercolor classes. This is THE most affordable arts space and we're willing to drive from Eagle to Boise for their kids clay play on Saturday morning. Ben and Mindy are knowledgeable and very good with kids; each kid starts on and work on whatever they want so if you want a class where everyone is making the same thing with tons of direction, this is not it. If you have a kid that wants to make what's in their head, this is great which is why even in a class of 10 kids, you'll see various ages and various stages of clay from hand molding to on the wheel and glazing. They also have a kiln on site. Keep in mind that if you do clay there, you wont want to do just 1 session as it'll be too wet to go home. It'll need to dry, then get fired, and then you'll paint and glaze in another session. It's a very creative space with access to multiple mediums and their schedule has lots of variety. We do their 10 class pass so we can go when we want to and it lasts for 2 years. Candy, the owner, is continually updating the space and classes and is always welcome to feedback. One of my favorite Saturday hacks is to drop kiddo off at the kids clay play on Saturday and then walk over to Common Grounds for a blissful 1.5 hours of reading and coffee.

I am very unhappy with Blue Moon Haven Belly Dance. To begin, I will say I enjoyed learning how to…read moredance. I was given a lot of individual attention and instruction as Im not a very good dancer. I do feel that I was not meeting the expectations of my instructor and that I was simply not a good fit for this studio. If you go to this studio you should perhaps have thick skin and understand the expectations are high. The group is also small and I honestly felt like an outsider. That being said, this is what happened that has left me so upset with my final experience with Blue Moon Haven. I accidentally took someones boots after class and left mine. When I found out, I was unable to drive at the time and asked the person to come to my house (less than 3 miles away) and get them. When they arrived I brought the boots out to them with a fresh baked cinnamon roll, tea, and an appology. It was a honest mistake and I thought it was settled. A few days later Dana messaged me and treated me like a criminal and inconsiderate person. I was mortified! Honestly, I felt like I was back in school and being picked on. If this is such a huge matter then they should have lockers available to students. Otherwise we could just be gracious and accept accidents happen. I am very sorry for the accident, but felt that the treatment I recieved was not deserved. If you are new to dance and sensitive like myself then you should probably go elsewhere. I changed my review to 2 stars because after sleeping on it I do feel I need to express that I did gain a love of dance...even though I'm not very good at it and they did work hard to teach me. Regarding the situation with the boots and how it was handled though, it was extremely unprofessional and very hurtful to me personally.
