I have been a patient here for 9 years and this is my 3rd complaint about them. I have migraines…read moreand called 4 times this week for a refill before the upcoming holiday and never received a call back. I will looking into getting a new doctor

I saw dr Cooper and the nurse practitioners name was Sheela (actually had to ask the front desk…read morebecause the nurse never introduced herself to me, or looked me in the eye at any point for that matter) There was one person in the waiting room when i was taken back to my appointment at 2:30. Anyways, I've been needing to see a doctor for a check-up/physical for a year or so and I've had a lot of things come up this past year that have been worrying me (irregular periods, former breathing issues, joint pain in my hands, very scary allergy attack, and anxiety), I'm new to Dallas, and don't have a doctor here. Overall i booked the appointment as a checkup/physical because i needed one anyways. One of the first things out of the nurses mouth once we got in the room was "well we won't be able to cover everything you're worried about so start talking" - okay, cool. Nice to know you're already rushing me out the door as my appointment starts. Whatever, she could have been in a bad mood or had a bad day so i shook it off. I'm a new patient so we had to go through the whole background thing. As we talk about what "my main issues" and as soon as i start talking she says "wait hold on" and leaves for like 5 minutes, which is so nice after already telling me we can't cover all the reasons i came in. i was feeling judged a bit as we went through my habits and med history. Honestly by the end of this process i really wanted to talk to the doctor, hoping she wouldn't rush me and actually listen to my concerns. Which is ironic, because the first thing doctor Cooper mentioned when she came in was "well what are your top concerns we can't get to everything today" yeah like i want to come back just to pay tell you my issues again? And just be rushed again? I went into slight detail on 2 of my issues that i really want addressed (or at least a referral) she continued tell me she couldn't do anything for one of my issues, and carrying an epi pen should fix my allergy (I've never had any sort of allergy testing to pinpoint my allergy) and the others will require referrals (referrals that often don't go through and i have to reach out to book) after explaining my concern on my allergy she said she would also refer me to an allergist. The kicker, i booked this appointment for a physical, and before i even realize that the appointment is done, she gets up and says "oh we'll do a physical another time" and rushes out of the room. I asked to get a flu shot as well, which she must have forgotten because she was about to send me on my marry way until i reminded her. I waited 10 minutes until Sheela came back to administer this and seemed to be a bit nicer since i told her needles really freak me out. Quick easy and finally out (of their hair). I felt like a huge inconvenience and chore to them. Sorry i don't go to the doctor often and like to actually have a detailed checkup so i know what's going on with my body. They didn't allow this to be possible for me - I felt rushed the entire time and as if they just needed to check off the boxes and kick me out before the day ended. I didn't even get to talk to the doctor about my concerns with my breathing problems - and she didn't even ask. *remember this is my first visit here* I'm wondering if they will still make the referrals... but i find it difficult for me to want to go back to a place that visibly didn't care about me.

I initially started going to this PCP 17 years ago when I was a child. They recommended I get a…read moreblood transfusion which my mom was against; ended up not needed it. Long story short I've been a loyal patient for many years and the wait time and overall office experience has not improved. You will wait 1-2 hours for a regular physical, annual exam, bloodwork, ekg, etc and this is with a scheduled appointment. I would literally avoid going to the doctor just because the wait time is horrible. They probably should stop taking walk ins and new patients until they can get more FNP to help Dr. Worrell. I don't even know if he is still there considering he is an older man and has been there many years. The front office is not the best to communicate with by phone nor do they send referrals or provide other providers your information in a timely manner.

I have been a patient here for at least 6 years. I saw Dr. Worrell my first visit and he was very…read moreknowledgeable and seemed thorough, so even though it was a 45 minute drive from my house, I came back. At my next appointment I saw Camilo Paredes his PA and for the next 5 years+ he became the only one I would see. Camilo alone deserves 5 stars, he was the absolute best! He left the practice last year and honestly I wanted to follow him to his new practice, and it's a good hour drive from my house, but sadly I have an HMO and his new practice does not accept my insurance. Since Camilo has been gone I've seen Dr. Worrell a few times, a couple of other PA's (Jesse and another really nice woman) and they all seemed nice and knowledgeable. The reason I am giving my experience a 1 is because of the office staff. They are great in person, but when it comes to contacting them by phone for anything other than making an appointment to come in they are absolutly hands down the worst at helping you or returning phone calls or patient emails. I was called into the office to discuss bloodwork the last time I went in. I was prescribed a medication that was covered by insurance but required a preauthorization form to be completed. I had my insurance company fax them the form which they completed and returned. DENIED! When I asked my insurance company what the problem was they indicated that the form was filled out but apparently didn't acknowledge my diagnosis or the form was not completed correctly. I called the office and was sent to a voicemail where I left a message but the call was never returned. So I again asked the insurance company to resend the preauthorizatin form and again my request for the medication was denied for the same exact reason. At this point I am wondering how qualified Kayla (the person appointed to fill out preauthorization forms) actually is. So again, I contact her and leave a voicemail. Still waiting to be contacted to find out why she can't fill out a form correctly and actually do her job...because why would the doctor prescribe a medication that needs a preauthorization, which is fine since I was diagnosed with the condition it was meant for, but she can't fill out a form to reflect that diagnosis? It blows my mind!! This is my current issue with the office staff, but there have been others. When my pharmacy has tried to contact the office for various reasons they have expressed to me on numerous occasions that they can't get anyone on the phone and they can't get a call back. Also, every visit they ask you to confirm your pharmacy, which I do every single time...its been the same pharmacy for 5 years, but the last time they called in my prescriptions they called them in to the wrong pharmacy and now have that wrong pharmacy listed as my primary pharmacy even though I told them it was incorrect. It's like pulling teeth to get anything from them once you leave the office. They are extremely frustrating! This alone kills the experience and is 100% why they are rated 1, which would be a 0 if it was possible to give that rating! Needless to say I am currently looking at finding a new PCP, one that has competent staff working, and who work with diligence on providing help when dealing with insurance companies and pharmacies.

Any doctor I've gone to I spend two minutes with and the appointment is over. I really appreciate that Dr.Nguyen takes time with me, and it is worth waiting a little longer. ALSO, I've been to the clinic a lot and there's NOT a wait every time. I think people are just used to doctors not spending a lot of time to understand what their issue is, unlike Dr. Nguyen who does. I also really like the receptionists. They are super nice and went above and beyond for me today to make sure my neurologist appointment is squared away. Thank you to everyone at Family Clinic for taking great care of me over the years!!
