I got takeout and order the Pad Thai (vegan), the basil dish (with tofu instead of meat) and a side of rice. I appreciated that they were eager to accommodate my vegan request and their willingness to make any dish vegan. Not everyone does that! The tofu basil tasted great. The Pad Thai was ok. There weren't any bean sprouts, or crushed peanuts and the flavor was interesting. Not having the flavor that a grilled meat or the fish sauce give makes me think it would probably taste great when prepared their normal way. A hidden gem - I called in for take-out from about 7min away, when I got there food was ready & service was fabulous. The lady was so sweet :') The food was perfect. The best Thai food in Tacoma, period. If you want spicy watch out, this is real Thai here. The interior is no frills but very comfortable.

This place is amazing, it's the most authentic tasting Thai food I've eaten since visiting Thailand. We had the Tom Kha with fried tofu, the Rama noodles with fried tofu, and panang curry with fried tofu. The employees/owners are wonderful and we love this place. Just ate here with my husband for the first time. I had the red curry & he had the Tacoma super green. The Food is absolutely delicious. The owner & employees are wonderful. I'm grateful. Update: went back the next day & the food was watered down and not near as good as the first time, but still some good flavors. So I'm not sure about how consistent they are. Not good, the first time I ordered the phad Thai and the chicken was extremely rubbery but the noodles were good, the second time, I ordered the "beef salad" the beef was rubbery, almost inedible, and it was served with red onion and cilantro over huge chunks of Raw green cabbage, no dressing just some dry chili situation on the top........ This place was really dirty and dingy the atmosphere was ugly no good decor, I brought my BF and he was like "will we be ok if we eat here?" I have NEVER had bad Thai food until I came here. The massaman curry was watery with hard undercooked potatoes, way too sweet and the chicken was hard as a rock. I also ordered pad thai noodles, it was way too sweet with no veggies or peanuts, it was all disgusting. I didn't even finish this food..a waste of money. Truly a disappointment read more

Post Covid... We are cautiously tipping our toes back into the dining scene as the comfort level of both of us expands to include going places and doing things. I suggested, as the partner with a more liberal view of 'safe' and the person going to work every day in schools and catching all the things there... suggested a compromise where we get take out from awesome local places every Friday and we alternate picking places. So this was the first of the new regime... Stadium Thai is in a little spot near Stadium Thriftway and had great food. Our order was fast, easy, friendly and delicious. We ordered the basil fried rice, appetizer platter, and Grandma's Chicken and it was all so good. The fried rice had the amazing grill spice also known as 'wok her' and the fried appetizers made my dining partner really happy. Also the wonderful flavor of the Chicken from the 'Grandma' menu makes us want to order all the things from there next time. Great, local place. Good food. Please go there and enjoy. read more

Finally stopped in after hearing about Sue Kidd (dinepiercecounty.com) hyping this business up before they opened and then again after they opened. I have big plans to work my way through their entire menu, trying every single item they offer. I'm so excited. You order at the counter (at least I did today) and pay - you can hear them cooking and working and it makes me homesick for my mom (who's Thai). Today we just tried their panang curry, chicken fried rice and sticky rice. It was all so good... customer service was excellent. Not much parking here so just plan to find parking about a block or two away and walk over. There's plenty of free street parking. The women working were so sweet & kind. Especially nice to my daughter. We got our food to-go and I appreciate that it's in sustainable packaging and she asked if we needed plastic ware or napkins, etc & we didn't because we took it right home and ate it. So delicious! I tried Stadium Thai for the first time today. I ordered crab wontons and pineapple fried rice they were both delicious. The wontons were crispy even after the drive home. And enjoyed a Thai iced coffee to top it off. This is the best Thai food I've had since visiting Thailand, definitely the best I've found in the north end of Tacoma. This is our 2nd time here! And both times the food was amazing and the staff are so nice! Very clean and inviting! We just learned the owner's wife is from Thailand and she is one of the cooks so that explains why the food is so authentic and delicious! The Phat See Ew was very flavorful and the vegetables were cooked just right. We had the Khao Kra Prow Kai Khai Dow (Basil Chicken) and Phad Thai last time and it was so delicious too. New to Tacoma and after visiting Stadium Thai we can confidently say we've found our go to spot!! The space is small (not sure if they're allowing dine in yet). The food was incredible!! Such full flavors. I'm really looking forward to trying their breakfast/brunch menu. It's always so hard to find an Asian restaurant that serves simple breakfast comfort food. Had high hopes for this place after all the glowing reviews. Boy, were we ever disappointed. The one-star reviewer said that the chicken tasted like it had been boiled and I couldn't agree more. Flavorless and tough. The pad Thai had this weird sweet vinegary sauce and it was extremely saucy, had no peanuts, was just NOT good and tasted nothing like authentic pad Thai. Tiny little place but seems to stay open due to the high amount of traffic from the Stadium neighborhood and the hospital workers across the street. Strike one happened just as we walked in the door. They have a sign on the door that states that they do not accept cash. This is very upsetting to me as we still live in the United States of America and in the great United States, cash is still legal tender for all debts domestic so when you tell me that you cannot accept cash, I have a problem. After that, we were greeted but instead of seated, we were asked if we were picking up. We said we'd like to dine in and here came strike 2! We arrived just before 6pm and they close at 7pm and just like my experience with a many Tacoma eating establishment, the first thing the lady did was look at the clock. To me this signaled that if it had been closer to 7, we would have been told that we could only order take out. I could be wrong but that's the impression that I got and you know what they say about first impressions. We were the only dine in customers but they had almost an endless stream of food delivery people coming in for take out orders so I know they must stay busy. We ordered our food and drinks and soon our drinks arrived. Shortly after our entrees arrived but nowhere in between those times did our appetizer arrive. We were half way into our entrees when we got their attention that they'd forgotten our appetizer and nearly finished eating by the time they arrived at the table. Sorta strike 3 if you ask me. We were all happy with our food and took the appetizers to go since we were now full. I'm sure we'll visit again based solely on the food. It was prepared well and tasted good. The tofu pad Thai is great, I can't stop ordering it! I've also had the tofu salad rolls, egg rolls, and Thai iced tea. To go orders are always ready very quickly. Hole in the wall place with a really small dining room. But great food. Everything was delicious. The ladies are so friendly. The only tricky part is the parking. Ordering from this place was confusing because of the multiple apps that claim to deliver or do pick up through them and the different hours. So, just call them and go pick it up. It's looks like it maybe used to be an old donut shop? It's tiny. Very little in the way of ambiance. But who needs that these days, it worked perfectly well as a waiting area when I went in to grab my order. There is a lot of Thai food in Tacoma and I'm a wildly spoiled California transplant who misses Jitlada in LA. It's been a challenge finding authentic seeming Thai food with real spices. This place gave me hope, the menu has some distinctly non-Americanized options and they came through! They asked about spice levels and we said medium. The food that came was not at all actually capsaicin spicy but it did have the complex quality flavors of good ingredients. Next time we'll ask for hot and hope for the best! I was craving Thai food for lunch the other day and remembered Stadium Thai is right across the way. I ordered the Bangkok Basil with tofu and no fish sauce. They were and are wonderful with understanding and respecting veganism/how vegan food works and I loved that! When I picked up my order their packaging was so thoughtful for someone on the go - the bag was stapled shut so you could have a handle and the meal itself was wrapped in a plastic bag so it wouldn't spill. The dish itself was EXCELLENT and I will definitely be back. I often have to add soy to take-out Thai I but their spice and salt level was spot on. I asked for medium spice and it was perfect - made my nose run just a little but not to the point where it hurt to eat it - the spice level actually made it even more addicting. I had the intention of only eating half but ended up eating 3/4 and saving the other 1/4 for a snack when I got home from work. No regrets! I also have no idea what they put in their broth/sauce but it was so colorful and tasted incredible. I can't wait to try some more of their dishes. Highly, highly recommend. read more
