JJ Muggs is the best sports bar in West Palm Beach, I've been to most and this one is the best. The location is right next to the baseball park and a amphitheater with live music, making the location the best in town. I've had lunch there many times and have always sat at the bar, the service is great and the Philly Cheese Steak is the best. The food was good, but that was about all. JJ Muggs had the most pathetic customer service I have seen in my life. The waitress overcharged us almost $20. It took 3 attempts for her to fix it and the manager was a joke that was not concerned and dismissed me as if I were trash when I asked him to take the overcharges off our bill after the waitresses second try. From the moment I walked in I was unimpressed. Three people at the hostess station. When I walked up with a smile, the older man said, "can I help you with something?" Since I was there to eat, I almost laughed but I said, "well, I'd like to eat". The young female hostess said, "just you?" I said yes, just me. She was leading me to a table outside almost right on top of two other parties. I asked if I i could be seated on the other side of the eating area. To this, I received an eye roll. I hate to add this in but it's important. She picked her shorts from her crotch twice on the way to the table. Ewww. My waiter showed up and was a bit friendlier but not overly. I asked why everyone was so crabby. By this time I was about ready to try another place. My waiter picked up his spirits a bit and did a pretty good job overall. I ordered a beer, hard to mess up so it was nice and cold. I also ordered bruschetta flatbread. Italians are rolling over in their graves over this item. Worst ever. All cheese, and no real bruschetta distinction. No flavor. This was my first time eating here and will most likely be my last. Sad because I live close by and was hoping for a good eatery. If you sit outside, be prepared to be surrounded by more cigar and cigarette smoke than your lungs have room for. Football season rocks at Muggs... Always a TV to watch my team play (Ravens), the food is good, had the burger and all you can eat wings. This is a REAL sports bar... Not like a Duffys, passionate fans of every sport go here. I recommend watching a few sports centers before you go so you will be current on all things sports related. I wish parking was a little better, some spots are 3 hour parking, games can go as long as 4, I am told that they really don't tow if you are in the 3 hour spot... I was in a few nights ago with a couple of friends and all I can say is wow!!! The renovations it went under have turned it completely. It looks fresh and new. We loved it! The service was great (we had Shantall serving us), and the food was awesome. I had a burger with sweet potato fries and was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. The drinks are a great price. Place can be slammed busy or absolutely deserted. Depends on if there is an event going on. Like sooo many other restaurants, I have had good service here and I have had embarrassingly bad service. Just depends on the luck of the draw. There is a room upstairs that has zero ambiance even for a beer and burger joint. Cheap lighting and bad acoustics up there make it one to avoid. Sometimes they host poker tournaments which draws the bottom of the barrel customers. JJ Muggs is the classic case of being hit or miss. Sometimes it's fresh fast and friendly, others it's slow, swamped and a giant waste of money. I would recommend this place on slow nights because you can actually get service. Went to enjoy a rare night out with my wife and kids. Only to have to find a different place to eat. Was told that no one under 21 was allowed in, that we had to eat outside. Been to this location many times and some times it's been good and some not so good. Will NOT be back any time soon! We were told that a promotion was going on, they are promoting smoking. I will not spend my hard earn money at a place that promotes such an unhealthy disgusting habit. I understand that this is a sports bar and grill, but this is also is family establishment. For a place that had about four or five total tables, I would expect them to open for more patrons than turning them away. read more

The atmosphere is nice but the food is pretty gross. I had a chicken cheesesteak but the chicken came in big dry cubes of yukiness. The water glasses and silverware were dirty. The service was actually pretty good and the fried calamari was edible. The keylime pie was the absolute worse.
