Deep Experience with Internal Underwriting and Approval Process Philipp previously worked in the underwriting department of Bank of America in the Concord office where your loan will be processed. As such, he has a strong understanding of your ability to secure your loan based on the initial documentation that you provide (paystubs, W-2, account statements). Equally important, he understands which additional documents you need and the format to submit your letter of explanations. 2. Extremely Communicative For the majority of the process, Philipp was in contact with me every other, if not every day. He understands that a lot of paperwork for homebuying is done after working hours and makes himself available. He was always good about calling with updates on the internal process and next steps, whether it was the first or second underwriting approval. You have probably spent a lot of time getting your bid accepted and last thing you want is your loan to delay the process of closing or to cause the deal to fall out of contract. 3. Tenure at Bank of America Getting a loan directly from a large bank has the reputation of being problematic. He can get feedback and attention to your case from the underwriters. This makes all the difference. Both the selling and buying agents agreed that Philipp was the top loan officer that they had worked with at Bank of America. 4. Honest and Trustworthy In securing our loan, I interviewed 6 loan officers, including another one from Bank of America. Many of them are sales focused and will say anything to get your business, knowing you have a lot of options. Philipp, on the other hand, will only promise what he can deliver. If he thinks that timing will be problematic, he will let you know up front. This is key to setting your timeline, waiving your contingencies and getting your mortgage funded by close of escrow. He genuinely cares about his clients, doesn't confuse them with lender lingo and will attend escrow signings in person if possible, something few loan agents do these days.
