The installation was good but... 1. A remote control was placed between a light switch and the door. You need to turn on the light before you use the remote, preferably w/o scraping your knuckles. 2. A pile of trash was left behind. I forgave that since the three men worked hard for more than 8 hours. 3. After they did wiring in my attic, insulation started falling through the kitchen ceiling vent. I pointed it out and the installer vacuumed the vent from below. I said it would be better to blow it, but he said it would be fine. It continues to fall down thru the vent. 4. Old HVAC vents were blocked to keep the warm air in and cold air out, but they left a big one in the old HVAC closet. Also, they capped the gas pipe inside the closet, so there are two holes to the outside. I could have made the closet look finished if they had capped the pipe below the house. 5. The way they inserted the cable ducts through the foundation air vent was poor. Rodents can now enter. 6. Poor oversight and communication. I wanted easy things corrected that would take 20min. "Mark" promised someone would get back to me...they never did. I called/texted about 5 times. Finally he stopped responding. UPDATE: The Yelp review prompted a call from Mark. He asked the foreman Zach to call me and address the problems. Zach called, said someone was in my area and would be by within 30 min. No one showed. No one called or texted. I will take a start off for poor oversight.

Natalie was able to find a slot that worked for my tenant and Roger visited the property shortly after. He gave a detailed quote and diagnosis of why the AC went out as well as recommended fixes. The other company tried to sell me a new unit by suggesting there may be a leak and replacing the R22 refrigerant would be very expensive. Needless to say, Roger won my business. He also went out of his way to show there was no leak and suggested the other tech might've mistaken the deferred maintenance as a leak because the unit hadn't been well maintained and thus not cooling efficiently. I signed up for their maintenance plan which is very reasonable as I was quoted a much higher price by other companies. I'll need to replace the condenser in a few years and Roger will be the guy I call.

A few days after we met and I signed the contract, the team came out to remove old roof debris left over from a recent reroofing, removed our home's original insulation, and installed fresh batt insulation in both the attic and crawlspace. They also added rodent proofing throughout the attic while they were at it. About a month later we heard critter noises, so I texted them and they came out to inspect. He didn't find anything in the traps but reset them to be safe. Sure enough, something took the bait because we heard it go off! Jose came back shortly after and discovered 2 mice (thankfully no rats), found a gap where the roof met the garage and sealed it up. He ran an ozone generator as a precaution for any smells. A couple weeks after that we heard faint sounds again. Jose returned, found one more entry point, sealed it, and since then there's been total silence! I really appreciated how thorough and persistent they were even after the job was technically done. Solid team, fair price, and they stand behind their work. Highly recommend Attic Kings!

Not only did Attic King give me the best bid, they went way above and beyond to coordinate the work with me, as I live out of the area. The communication was always prompt, and all my questions were answered with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. On the first day the crew worked an extremely long day removing all the old insulation and ducting, completely cleaning and sanitizing the attic, and installing all new ducting. They sealed every entry point they could find where rodents were getting into the attic . Then they laid traps and waited several days to come back and make sure no more rodents were getting in before they blew in the new insulation. Throughout the entire job, their representative Ofek kept me informed of progress and included pictures at each stage of the job. In an era when Customer Service seems to be a dying art, it's nice to know there's a company that puts the customer first and backs it with excellent workmanship. I could not recommend them more highly!

So I do my research and am VERY selective in who I hire when our house needs work. My wife and I hired Andy Fernandes and Adval and they proved to be the real deal. Andy was *always* prompt - every time he or anyone from his company was scheduled to arrive they arrived early. Andy and his crew were communicative, clearly very knowledgeable, and straightforward, which is to say that they told me *and showed me* what was really happening and not what they wanted to promise or what they thought we wanted to hear. And they followed through exactly as they said they would. The quality of their work was outstanding. We had a few kitchen cabinets that had gotten damaged by the 2014 Napa quake and were looking like they were going to fall off the wall. Andy sent over a master carpenter (he spent years building stuff for moneyed people on Martha's Vineyard, who can be quite demanding) who didn't "upsell" us by telling us one of the cabinets needed to be rebuilt (the build cabinet in their own shop), he showed us in detail exactly what the problem was and convinced skeptical me that a new cabinet built from real plywood instead of the particle board of the cabinets the flipper who sold us the house had installed was the way to go. They reused the facing from the old cabinets, so the match was immaculate. Price-wise, yeah, they weren't the cheapest I could have found, but they were most definitely not close to the high end, they were right in the ballpark, and I figure if I demand quality I have to be wiling to pay for it. And we most decidedly got what we paid for. I repeat again that I am VERY picky about contractors, but I unhesitatingly give Adval Construction my highest recommendation. Our job was pretty small, but I would hire them for a big job in a heartbeat. This is the way construction contracting is supposed to work.

My neighbor had a new water softener system installed on his home. I usually give advice on his home maintenance. He went with the third Quote from Staches Plumbing. I went over during the installation process and was impressed. After Staches completed the job they came over to my house and replaced the hose bib valve in my front yard. Since I had all of the parts they were able to do the job in 45 minutes. The longest part of the job was draining the water out of the lines to solder the valve in. After completing the job I asked about the bill and was told that there would be no charge. I felt bad so I bought both workers lunch.
