The ultraviolet violet latte and avo tartine were both fantastic. The latte wasn't overly blueberry and was refreshing, while the tartine was savory. I tend to not like reddish, but I loved it on the tartine! It's a nice atmosphere too, although seating can fill up quick. Their wine selection also was quite nice! Stable Hand is a cool spot to work. I came by in between several meetings while in South End to just sit, eat and work. It was a little busy inside so I grabbed a seat at the coffee bar after I ordered. They had outlets underneath so that was perfect! When I went, it was a Saturday morning. Although it seemed busy, we still got our drinks within minutes. At first I was happy to see that they were using proper matcha preparation but the end result was a very milked down version of a matcha where you don't get that strong umami taste. After moving to Charlotte, I was didappointed at the amount of coffee shops with lackluster lattes. Stable Hand was the turning point for me! I am even luckier that it's close enough to walk to from the rail line. The vibes in here are cozy and they have wine and board games too, which makes me wish they were open late. I stopped by Stable Hand in South End for a pre-work breakfast with a friend, and it's such a charming spot! The minimalist decor gives the space an open, airy vibe, and with only a couple of people there when I arrived around 7:45 AM, it felt calm and relaxing. The sweet barista let me know I could place my coffee order right away, but the kitchen didn't open until 8:00 AM. I went with the Mexican Mocha (dark chocolate, cinnamon, serrano peppers, espresso, milk, and a toasted marshmallow) and the Bacon Brekky Sando (honey-glazed bacon, roasted peppers & onions, egg, cheese on brioche). The Verdict: Bacon Brekky Sando - Tasty but on the smaller side. I couldn't really detect the peppers or onions, and I think a sauce like sriracha would've elevated it even more. Mexican Mocha - I was expecting more heat from the serrano peppers, but it leaned more toward a rich, dark hot cocoa flavor. It wasn't very sweet, even with the toasted marshmallow on top. If you prefer a sweeter coffee, I'd suggest adding extra sugar. The barista also mentioned the White Miso Butterscotch Latte as a sweeter option, and I'll definitely try that next time! I just got a black coffee, which is admittedly hard to screw up, but it was still pretty good, the staff was friendly, and the ambiance was very unique, even for the standards of coffee shops. A delightful coffee shop, decorated in a rather spartan manner. On a Friday morning, quite peaceful as I enjoyed my second coffee of the day. I love coffee shops that have a cortado on the menu. It tells me that they're not one of those button pushing baristas like at the Green Siren people. No, this is real coffee and real art. Served in the proper short glass, this coffee was excellent. This spot has a modern vibe. I liked that each table had its own plug, which is super convenient if you're working remotely. Didn't love this coffee shop. To be fair, I don't drink coffee but love sitting on patios and catching up on my work and reviews. It was pretty warm outside so I got an iced chai latte with oat milk. The staff member wasn't necessarily helpful or welcoming. I said I'm not a coffee drinker and was looking over the menu to see my other options and he kind of just stood there. Getting an iced chai here is not a good idea. The cup is a standard size but it was filled to the brim with ice and and had absolutely no chai taste. If anything it was like I was drinking cinnamon oat milk. Maybe a plus for some but not what I was expecting that for $6.50. My boyfriend got the 8oz house coffee and was disappointed because it wasn't hot. The inside was full so we sat on the patio for a little bit closer to the dog shop. Those tables aren't covered so we didn't get to stay long. Too much laptop glare. Based on the location I can see how this place can get and stay busy but it just wasn't for me. read more

Stable Hand has become one of my favorite coffee shops in Charlotte! I had their seasonal orange cardamom cappuccino. The coffee was excellent with it having a smooth flavor. The roast used that day was medium but they use a variety of Hex coffee beans. I thought the orange cardamom flavoring was present while not being overly sweet. The first thing I noticed was that the cashier would not make eye contact and was not being attentive to our order. Our drinks and food came out and the order was wrong. A second cashier retook our order and remade our drinks. The meals were not corrected. The savory porridge was good and had a slight kick to it. I was in the mood for a hot Latte, and Matcha...and I remembered just how good the Matcha Latte was here when I tried out this place during a Yelp event last year. Sure enough, their Matcha Latte was DEE-Lish...maybe even more so than I had remembered! Again, I loved the gorgeous color of this Latte...and the fancy Latte artwork as well. Definitely Instagrammable! I hit this place around 1 pmish, and it was fairly packed. Am wondering if they plan on adding more tables and chairs in the future. The place is rather spacious, so it seems possible to expand. There were a few misses though. Like, where was the music? This is a coffee bar/lounge...and I felt that (cool) overhead music should have been a requirement. Maybe it was on too low, but I just don't recall hearing ANY music. The lack of music somewhat made me feel stiff and uncomfy while sipping my Latte, alongside a row of strangers. I felt that they definitely missed the mark here. Another disappointment was to see that they didn't have any pastries or any snack item even on sale. Huh?? Normally, I would have docked a star (or 2?) for the lack of overhead music and/or not having my beloved pastries and/or other snacks...BUT their cup of hot Matcha Latte was SO good, I just couldn't. Honestly, I think it was THE best hot Latte I've ever had (counting the ones I've had in bigger cities and countries)! Anyway, can't wait to return for my next cup! Stable Hand is a cute little coffee shop to drop by or stay a while. They have a wide variety of lattes, and were very good; they use Hex coffee. I loved that they offered hot chocolate for the kids and ensured the milk wasn't too hot. On a Saturday, they were pretty busy, and seating is limited. We ultimately opted out of trying the food because we had planned to sit down, but there wasn't anything available. This wouldn't be as much of any issue during warmer months as they have ample outside seating! Parking wasn't difficult and the staff was very nice. All in all, it was pretty good and a new shop I tried thanks to an Offline Charlotte Deal. The food looked like it was good for breakfast and may have to try that if I visit in the future. read more

This place is so cute and the decor was very well thought of! If you vibe with minimalistic decor, then this is your place. I came in the late afternoon and was still able to find a seat. I love that their outlets are right under the table. I would say that their music is somewhat loud and makes it distracting to do work that requires your attention. They have pastries on the counter for sale... I wonder if they'll taste stale since they're out in the open. As for the drinks, I got a matcha latte and it was really pretty! The matcha latte itself was still a bit powdery and I could feel it on my lips when I was drinking it.
