All the Dane Country SVDP stores are great, and the Sun Prairie store is no exception. The layout of the store is solid in terms of both spaciousness and organization, and the displays are always thoughtfully executed. We went to Sun prairie wi st. Vs and bought some things. When we got home (5 min away) my daughter realized that one of her items wasn't in her bag. Checked the receipt (always ger a receipt) and she was charged for it. I was headed home so swung by to get it. So, the woman at the register said she saw it, but sold it to a subsequent customer. So they sold it again!! Makes me wonder where the rounding up money really goes to if they do underhanded things like that. Yep, plenty of other thrift stores around to waste money at places that cheat their customers. read more

The most ridiculous thrift store I ever been to! T-shirt $7-12 ?? Long sleeves $20 and up? Shoes are $15-25! I buy cheaper clothes new at Ross and TJ Maxx and it's NEW! Everything they think is good they marked it up to the roof. But they getting that stuff for free. Please do not donate your items here if you want them to be reused by other people who struggling to afford to buy clothes. Goodwill way more reasonable! No wonder marked up items ended up in dig and save. Won't visit that thrift store again. read more

The store is very large and the goods inside are very spread out due to all the space. Clothing makes up the majority of this thrift store, I would say about 70%. Everything is well organized into different sections (women's/mens, pants/shirts). There is a small shoe and accessory area in the back corner. There is also a small area of home goods and toys. The majority of this area is focused on kitchen goods (plates, bowls, silverware etc). The have a small jewelry area up by the check out counters. Prices are reasonable. This is also my favorite place to go to donate items as well! They have a nice automated garage door that will open for your car and you just pull in, drop off your bags and drive out the other side! This is one of the larger thrift stores I've been in and it's clothing heavy. The clothing section is well organized and mostly fairly priced. They separate their clothes into men's/women's/children's and then have a separate section called "Rendu" that has newer, trendier, and brand-name items. I didn't find much of anything in either clothing section for myself, but my boyfriend walked out with a stack of new or almost-new pieces. Things the staff deemed as winter wear were marked down 50% leading to things like $2.50 sweaters. Not bad! The non-clothing section leaves much to be desired. There was a lot of dirty junk strewn on the shelves - colored hair spray with the cap askew, lotions, partially burned candles, etc. No thanks. Pricing was also a lot more varied in the non-clothing items and seemed oddly marked up - bad hotel art for $50, a chair for $115, a shelf that someone had painted the top of and left unsightly drips down the side for what I'm sure was more than the $5 it'd go for at a garage sale. I'm sure there are some gems now and again, but if I return I'll probably stick to the clothes. read more

I've have been doing a lot of donating lately and have found that this is my favorite spot to drop off items.They have a automatic opening door for drive in unloads and aren't overly picky about what they will take.They will be happy to unload your stuff or help out. Immediately when walking in it felt like you could find some pretty good quality finds. After exploring around it, there were several items that stood out., some for the wrong reasons - pricing. I would have expected the pricing to be a bit better on a lot of what I was looking at. One item in particular stood out - I was looking at a table that had already been marked down twice - with the last markdown almost a month old. It was pretty evident the item was not priced right - or it surely would have moved already. Since I was interested, I wanted to work on the price a little - since it was likely to get another markdown soon, as it appeared overdue. When talking with the staff, they were not flexible. Which I can understand, they want their sticker price without any negotiation. Considering I wasn't looking to get a steal on the item, I was willing to offer a fair price, you would think we could work something out. They just said sticker price is where they are. Before leaving I figured I owed it to them to let them know what I would be willing to spend (a mere 10% reduction). At which point they said 'ok' and we proceeded to heck out. All good, it seemed. A fair deal for them, a discount for me - though still more than I wanted to pay. Then when waiting for the cash register to warm up, I started talking about logistics for picking up - as I had a full load with passengers. At this point I was told they had to get the sticker price again... Huh? If that was the case, why say ok and move to the cash register to check out? While it is great to have a St. Vinny's in Sun Prairie - they really should check their pricing a bit more, and consider their willingness to negotiate a little more - especially on higher priced items. read more

I've been thrifting for over 20 years now, and while I generally enjoy most thrift stores, I'm also very picky about which ones I'll add to my regular rotation. This one is hands down my favorite. Why? It's huge. They have so much space inside, and they fill it well but they've definitely got some room to grow. Also lots of fitting rooms, that are always kept clean. The staff. For all the bad attitudes you'll find at Goodwill, there is none of that here. St Vinny's in general has friendly employees but I've found the Sun Prairie staff to be especially friendly and helpful. The item selection. Every thing is generally pretty clean/in good condition. Very well sorted. Much of the furniture is either in very good condition, or unique older pieces. The prices... most of the time. Clothes, books/cds/dvds, dishes, regular household items - those all seem to be priced in the low-to-reasonable zone. I love finding nearly-new clothes for $5-6/piece. The furniture and frames, both things that I buy regularly, can really be priced erratically. Sometimes it's obvious - a cheap Walmart frame For $3 vs. a high-end one for $50. Other times, it'll be a Pier One picture with a Pier One clearance sticker for $16 and a St Vinny's sticker for $15. So I would like to see more consistency with the pricing. But 95% of the time, I feel that the prices are fair. Also as a frequent St Vinny's shopper, I love their rewards card. It doesn't save you tons, but it's great to get a few extra bucks off each time. read more

The pricing is ridiculous. Five dollars for a tiny box with a hole in the bottom of it? Ninety dollars, yes 90 dollars for a teetering, severely worn out foot stool?? I felt like I had stepped into another dimension. Glass bowls and their matching lids priced separately, but packaged together? It's like someone let a toddler run wild with the pricing gun. We didn't buy anything here because we realized that we must have accidentally slipped through a rip in the space-time continuum into the twilight zone. I wish I could say this was just a bunch of oopsies because this location is relatively new, but I've visited their location in Waunakee too and found the same pricing practices there as well. this st Vincent de Paul is very colorful which is what I like about it the most. it also has some very good options on different pieces of clothing. the try-on rooms are pink on the inside and also contain a mirror. they have all the different sections of the store labeled with signs that say where specific ages clothes are located. read more

Plenty of good finds to be had in the clothing area. I found lots of nice deals in the kids section, they had quite a bit more in stock and a wider variety than I found at the West Madison St. Vinny's. They had a decent supply of books, but nothing to rival the Willy St. location. If you don't have a shopper card, you should certainly sign up for one. Doesn't cost you anything & you rack up points that save you $ on future purchases. St. Vinny's offers important local community services (i.e., they have a charitable pharmacy for those with no Rx coverage) so by visiting here you are shopping and supporting a good cause. Win win! The pricing is definitely the issue. It is all over the board. The first and only time I went in I saw a used sofa- granted it was the large square, seats 8 kind of a sofa-but it was priced at almost $900. No one comes to St. Vincent's, Goodwill, or even Restore or any other resale establishment to spend that kind of money. The sofa was in "good" condition at best. I have not returned there for a second visit. read more

This store is large and well organized. They have cute clothes put together with matching shoes and purses on the hangers so you can get an idea of what an outfit would look like. I found a Crate and Barrel chip and salsa bowl in teak wood for $2.30! I also found a glass Easter candy dish for my Mom for $2.30! Both items are like brand new. I will return. read more

This review is not for any particular St Vincent DePaul store but for the "free pick up" of donations. I was in the process of moving and had many items I was giving away and wanted St Vincent DePaul to have them in order to help for a good cause. The pickup scheduling was very difficult. They were supposed to let me know an hour in advance that they were stopping and never did. I wasn't at the house and they left. Rescheduled and items were left in the garage. Neighbors were waiting this time. Truck arrived and the driver said nothing was packaged correctly and left - taking nothing. I had a corner shelf, small tv stand, a nice glass topped wall table with matching mirror and some very nice women clothes. Some of the items were purchased at St Vinnies just a few months prior. When I called and asked why the driver did not pick anything up and how was I supposed to package something like the shelf, the person on the phone said the driver said the condition was poor. Surprising since they were able to have it in the store not long ago. I asked to explain and the person just said sorry and hung up. Took the items to goodwill in my car and they accepted everything gladly. My wife and I used to rave about St Vinnies and shopped and donated to help the community but something like this sure leaves a sour taste. Will not be going back for awhile read more
