Habitat for Humanity Restore is this crazy shop. It has so much of all kinds of everything:…read moreconstruction, furniture, electrical related items, etc., etc., that it's almost hard to imagine. This shop is stocked full of so much stuff, it is amazing. If you're looking to furnish your home with vintage chest of drawers, desks, lamps, and a little bit of everything else, this is an incredible place to find it. If you're redoing your home, your office, your studio, or any other place, and you want to add some really truly unique elements to it, this is the place to go. When I say this business has all kinds of unique everything, I am not exaggerating. It's really an adventure to go inside. Because you never know what you will find. It's really fun! The moment you walk in the door of this business you'll be hit with a visual cornucopia of a little bit of everything. They have paintings, artwork, glassware, you name it... I cannot articulate the amount of truly unique stuff they offer, because they really have a lot. Of course, the staff here are always happy to help you out. But, in a lot of ways, you don't even need them, because all you have to do is go and find that unique something, grab it, pay for it, and you're out the door. Overall, this is one of those truly unique businesses that I recommend to anybody who is ever in the area. It's really a very fun viewing and shopping experience.

281 Sheridan Springs - Eclectic mix of treasures

281 is quite an interesting place - they advertise as "Wisconsins Largest Consignment Warehouse"…read moreand I won't dispute them on that. Getting there is easy - it's just off Hwy 12 and only a few minutes from downtown Lake Geneva. In theory, they are open Sat - Sun 10-5 but if you aren't super local, call ahead. We arrived at 10:30 to locked doors, but someone showed up later. Inside, you'll find an assortment of furniture, home decor and even some architectural salvage. Many things are completely, totally unique - like 2 giant bookcases that came from a Paris apartment 150 years back. Most furniture is of the "rich old person" variety which makes sense given a lot of it comes from local estate sales. From what I saw, there's a good amount of care to present things in an appealing way and everything looked to be in good condition. Now - you might be thinking "I do not require a $2000 chair that resembles a medieval throne" but it's not just furniture. I saw a complete set of Balzac that looked to be in great condition, there were several boxes of hand colored lithographs from the 1700-1800's, as well as a Victrola with tons of records. There are even vintage appliances in really good shape for all you hipster kids. What did we find? How about a sweet 5' tall hand carved tiki statue? And a vintage Chinese cigarette poster from the 30's, mounted on silk and framed? Couldn't pass up these unique treasures for sure. The owner is a very nice guy as well and gave us a good recommend for lunch. Worth a stop. Call first.

Fred left about 1/3 of the furniture and told me they could come back another day but I'd have to PAY for his FUEL round trip...AGAIN. (Cost of Gas was NOT mentioned in Freds phoney sales pitch) Fred also claimed I would receive an itemized list, AND BE PAID WHEN MY ITEMS SELL. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. Fred never got me legitimate receipts for tax purposes. NEVER heard from FRED G. again on any consignment items. Fred didn't return texts or calls. Fred G. steals from vulnerable clients. I've read customer reviews... same experiences and complaints about Fred G. and his SCAM resale shop.

When we entered the store a woman yelled across the counter, "those items have to be left on the counter!" We asked if they could be tried on, she said only over our clothes we weren't allowed to use the fitting rooms for items that were on sale. We then moved to look at the jewelry, as we walked past crowded racks, and tiny aisles. My friend asked about some pearls in the cases. The owner and her associate couldn't be bothered to help us. They yelled from their crowded rack, "All the pearls are real in the cases." They couldn't be bothered to help us or anyone else in the store. If you like to be treated like pond scum, this is the store for you. I will never return. The dog was cute though.
