Clean, big and good sorting. Great for housewares and a decent furniture selection at reasonable prices.

Vinny's is one of my favorites, mostly because the store is clean and the staff are friendly.

It's only open to the public on Fridays and the 2nd Saturday of each month. Never heard of it? Neither had I. From the SWAP website: "SWAP collects, processes, and redistributes surplus property generated by UW-Madison and state agencies, while providing UW-Madison departments, government agencies and non-profit organizations with low-cost, quality surplus equipment and supplies and finding reuse and recycling markets for surplus property. " And what does this mean? Deals, deals, deals! Once we found the proper exit off of 151-S in Verona, we walked into a warehouse busting with furniture, electronics, and computers. The inventory changes weekly, with new (well, old actually) additions coming from all the UW sites across the state in 20 - 30 truckloads a week! You'll find solid desks ($5-30), 60s-style chairs ($5), metal file cabinets, gym lockers, random electronics and lab equipment, and cheap computers. They even have some Badger sports equipment and uniforms. Oh, and ever wonder what happened to that old rusty bike you left chained to a campus bike rack for a season or two? You'll probably find it here for $5. Today they were giving away free dorm chairs (as many as you'd like) with a purchase. Once we crammed our loot into the car, we drove away with six cool vintage chairs for a total of $10. Not too shabby! Check their website for listings of new inventory and their online auction, too.

This past Saturday, they were selling lots of Badger gear from the swimming/diving team, rowing team and the tennis team. There was a large variety of shirts for $5 each, sweatshirts for $20, jackets for $30, etc. They had a lot of badger seat cushions for $.25/each. I wish I needed chairs. There were so many really nice chairs there (starting at $5 each). Lots of shelves, file drawers, tables, lab equipment, computer stuff, etc. We scooped up an awesome set of 8 lockers for $35 (previously marked for $100). The set is in great shape and will come in really handy. Give yourself about an hour to peruse the aisles. The prices are super low and can't be beat. They do have an online bidding site also for their more popular items. Open to the public the 2nd Saturday of each month.

This shop is stocked full of so much stuff, it is amazing. If you're looking to furnish your home with vintage chest of drawers, desks, lamps, and a little bit of everything else, this is an incredible place to find it. If you're redoing your home, your office, your studio, or any other place, and you want to add some really truly unique elements to it, this is the place to go. When I say this business has all kinds of unique everything, I am not exaggerating. It's really an adventure to go inside. Because you never know what you will find. It's really fun! The moment you walk in the door of this business you'll be hit with a visual cornucopia of a little bit of everything. They have paintings, artwork, glassware, you name it... I cannot articulate the amount of truly unique stuff they offer, because they really have a lot. Of course, the staff here are always happy to help you out. But, in a lot of ways, you don't even need them, because all you have to do is go and find that unique something, grab it, pay for it, and you're out the door. Overall, this is one of those truly unique businesses that I recommend to anybody who is ever in the area. It's really a very fun viewing and shopping experience.

Another customer stole something I purchased from the store and the folks at the ReStore were so incredible in handling the situation and giving me a store credit in addition to a full refund on the item. I couldn't ask for better or nicer people -- Jason and Kristin, managers of this location, are simply wonderful and thoughtful folks. We love Helen and James at the front desk, and I've been lucky with great finds here. They are lovely to interact with at pickup in the back as well. I love this place for all my restoration projects and finding awesome furniture. My 1950s Singer machine and table was $30 here -- incredible find! I've also found two gossip benches, 1920's chairs and all the hardware I've ever used comes from here. Highly recommend and the experience is fantastic. Thanks ReStore team, ya'll are great!

As you make your way around the upstairs where she has laid out the beds (pun mildly intended), will have you longing to walk off with all of them at once, while their prices are nothing short of astounding. If there was ever a time to focus on buying local, this post-COVID time is it, and if you are looking for a place that is going to be fair, where you will find something that will last, this is the store. More importantly, Linda's knowledge of interior design means when you walk in and jabber as incoherently as I did, she will cheerfully help you find what matches your style and/or make your significant other happy without breaking the bank. Multiple times, I've had employees ignore that I was at the front waiting for several minutes for checkout -- like they have looked at me, made eye contact, and kept doing their task without coming to the front or contacting anyone else to do so. They also don't wrap fragile items even if I ask them repeatedly to wrap fragile items and throwing them in thin fabric clothing doesn't cut it. I'm always wary about this and now I carry packing paper to do it myself in the car afterwards, which is ridiculous with Goodwill prices. They clearly use Google lens to make pricing decisions based on active listings, not actual sales. They get their merchandise for free, so the significant up charges and pricing make me angry and feel exploitative, at minimum. I have found other thrift stores and don't go here much anymore.

You don't feel like you are breaking the bank when you want to wear something only once.
