I want to start off my review stating that most of the workers at St Vincent's are kind, hardworking and lovely people. They should be appreciated and commended for the efforts they put in each day. I went into St Vincent's last week. I was there less than 5 minutes when I overheard one of the employees (I'm guessing the employees are all unpaid volunteers) was speaking to a gentleman extremely rudely, insisting that he was a reseller. She stated they do not sell to resellers, I'm not sure if she meant that specific item or all items. The man stated he was looking at one pair of sunglasses for his wife and the worker exclaimed she didn't understand why he would be looking at sunglasses for his wife without his wife present. The gentleman ended up abruptly leaving. I was appalled hearing her speak to this man in this manner. Who is she to judge? There are resellers everywhere trying to support their families, many single parents and many with children with disabilities trying to make ends meet. It is absolutely none of her business and if this is how St Vincent's runs their charity operation where they've marked up goods beyond what most people can afford and scrutinize the ones who can, I will not be coming any longer and I will also let my friends know to do the same. It is after all resellers that provide a big portion of money for St Vincent's, Goodwill etc. Resellers are not going inside buying up all of the inventory, resellers are very selective and probably buy items that most overlook. With so much going into the landfill, resellers have really helped more than they've hurt. St Vincent mostly sells dingy, outdated, dirty items that have been extremely overpriced. They didn't appear to even be cleaned. Used sheet sets are taped up so customers cannot even determine if they're stained, damaged or unfit for the price. Resellers may be able to offer some help in pricing items so they actually sell. Prices for items should not be determined on any listing prices, instead they should be priced on the sold price if you are trying to compete with eBay or other online reselling platforms. However, if you're trying to be a charity that moves items quickly because you have a huge warehouse full of them, it would probably be best to price your items fairly so the public who can't afford your prices can purchase them or resellers can purchase them, at the end of the day the money is all going to the same cause, right? I'm sure the volunteers work very hard but another situation I've noticed several times and so have others is the way the workers treat each other. Some of the workers are so rude to their coworkers, belittling them in front of customers, being flat out abusive and just being controlling old biddies. I witnessed one customer paying for her items and the worker was trying her best to fit everything into the bag the customer was purchasing while another worker came over to take over insisting that she "let her do it". There's a sign on the door that says " no animals" which is a good idea. Too often than not I've went into stores in the valley with dogs everywhere. Some of them are friendly and the owners have obviously trained them to be in a public place. Unfortunately many are not trained, some are aggressive and some of the owners are not observant to what their dog is doing, rubbing up against other customers, sniffing and licking other customers, lunging at customers etc. St Vincent's maintains this policy for their customers, however not 10 minutes after I was inside, a worker comes out from the back with a dog. Double standards are not a good example of respect for all. I hope that St Vincent's listens to, respects their customers with pricing their items fairly, workers respecting each other & treating each other with overall kindness, especially in front of customers & not turning away paying visitors by deciding who is worthy of purchasing and who isn't. The cleanliness and organization of St Vincent's could also be a focus but that seems secondary to the bigger issues and it's understood that the volunteers work very hard and obviously not enough volunteers for such a huge building. read more

A lovely staff, genuinely loving people who are helping the homeless population of Medford with grace and patience.

Was so disappointed with St Vincent De Paul today. A woman walked up to ask how much a blanket was that was not priced and the volunteer told her $6.50. It obviously was to much for how old and worn this blanket was but the customer was not rude or anything and picked up the blanket and casually walked back to that section. When she walked away another volunteer loudly said to the other volunteer " What does she think everythings free here" I was shocked and disgusted. St vincent de paul Volunteers attitudes are unkind and rude they have lost sight of their goal which i thought was helping people? This is not the first time I have visited the Medford location and watched a volunteer or manager treat a customer unkind. I dont think at all that this customer expected anything for free HOWEVER arent you getting this merchandise for free? Your prices are ridiculous and your attitudes are to match. I was waiting in line among others and was disgusted with how these volunteers treated this woman so blantly in front of other customers and so blantly behind this customers back. I thought st vincent de paul is suppose to be accepting of others no matter their race, age, or financial situation? I will be taking my free stuff somewhere else from now on and I encourage you to do the same. Till St Vincent De Paul in Medford can treat their customers with dignity and respect why should they receive our free stuff. read more

Everything was super clean and organized. They didn't ask me to check in my purse, and were fine with me using the bathroom. I found a bunch of awesome stuff, and the staff were really friendly. They had multiple checkers available even though there were only a few people in the store, so I found what I needed and a bunch more and made my purchase in about 20 minutes. read more

The do a lot of good for the needy in town, and I used to find some nice bargains. But, they have recently had a huge increase in their prices. Huge. It wasn't just my noticing, others mentioned it as we browsed. Way too much for things. Chipped plates sold "as is," for several dollars because they are "such and such made." A cracked vase was $8.50 because it was a particular pottery, but cracked is worthless! As a vase, and also to a collector! They must have someone checking online as to what things are "worth," since many items now have notations on what it is, who made it, when it was made. I've gotten some watercolors I enjoy (not worth more than the $3 I paid, and then the $80 to frame them at art stores!), now most of the "real" artwork has had the backs torn open to peek to see if they are "real," and if so, high prices. They've priced me out of shopping there. That happened since the beginning of 2019 only. Oh, some of the "security" men are pretty creepy. They seem to follow the young ladies, at least with their eyes. read more

Once you buy something here it generally isn't returnable. They may let you exchange it for another item of equal value. They used to take credit cards. If you arrive on a bicycle there are bicycle rakes to lock yours up at. If you carry a backpack be prepared to check it with the front desk. As far as I know they don't give you a baggage check in receipt showing proof that they actually received your backpack. Go to a bus station, airline, or anywhere else and your given a luggage check in receipt but not here. So if you have medicine in your backpack or anything breakable I recommend that you have a friend witness the condition of your breakable items before handing the backpack to the clerk behind the counter and remove all controlled substances from it to keep from being accused of supplying a controlled substance to someone unauthorized to receive it and the legal ramifications that might come from such an experience. read more

I've been into the thrift store on multiple occasions, and the volunteers are consistently rude. They all seem to have really bad attitudes towards the customers and are openly combative. I've spoken to management about the ongoing problem, but was told that all their workers donate their time as volunteers... which is wonderful, but doesn't excuse their conduct or offer any explanation as to why they permit their workers to be so cranky towards paying customers. The shelter is across the parking lot, and I've seen their volunteers yell at their homeless clients, using the most foul language you can imagine, and when a shelter staffer came outside to see what the ruckus was, he said, "Get your sh**. You and your family are out of here." I tried to explain to the staffer what I had seen, but, typically, his response was to defend the volunteer because "he isn't even getting paid." read more

The volunteers wanted only packaged and new stuff donated. They wanted to pick and choose what was donated. Was not a giving experience. Go somewhere else. They don't deserve a star at all. read more

Things are neatly organized but not cheap. A new Caphalon pot was $50! Books easy to get to and hard covers were about $2. Got some cassettes for ten cents each. read more
