Two days ago, I had the first set of spinal injections. It took four months to get on their schedule, which is absurd to begin with. Although IUH has all of my current info (including insurance... I was just in their hell hole that they call an emergency room the day before) I received non-stop automated calls from the billing office to "please wait while we connect you to someone to help." That someone never picked up. After waiting on hold three times for more than 10 minutes, I left a message for them to stop calling. At the Surgery Center, everyone was kind and efficient. I was in and out within about an hour and a half. So, kudos there. This morning, I received a follow-up call from the Surgery Center. If you're familiar with IUH, they only care about what your pain level is on a scale from 1-10. Well, I couldn't answer that question because I'm not experiencing pain exactly, but rather the feeling best described as a low voltage electrical charge in the area of the injections. Being on chemo for nearly five years, at times, my mind isn't very clear and have some difficulty expressing myself. The follow-up call lasted exactly 4 minutes and 20 seconds. Before the line was disconnected, I heard the woman say to her coworker, "That was a long winded call!" WOW, REALLY?! So sorry to have been a bother to you, lady. My spouse was sitting next to me and heard it as well. I immediately called back and told her (I didn't catch her mush-mouth name) that I heard what she said. After a long pause, she lied and said she wasn't referring to me. Once she realized she was caught in her lie, she started throwing out apologies. I don't take apologies from liars and hung up on her. I left a message on the main line (which is only a recording) stayinyg that I wanted to talk to the director. We'll see if that happens. I also sent a message to IUH through the patient portal. I received an automated email stating that someone from the appropriate area would call. We'll see if that happens, too. From my experience over the past two years (aside from PT and my GI) IUH is the absolute worst. I would probably fall off my chair if I came across a doctor that actually cared or had any empathy. The same is true with most of the nurses. The following BS is from the Senate Street Surgery Center: "Your successful outcome is always our goal. You will be supported by expert staff and the highest standards of quality and safety." What a joke!

After calling around rather a lot, we finally found this place -- not terribly close to us, but still within reasonable driving distance. I'm biased toward the Community Health Network, after I received such superb care during my brief hospital stay at Community Hospital South; their network is also less expensive than Franciscan. So: Location. Right next to the freeway exit (465 & Washington Street E) -- easy to get to. Dedicated parking lot, and easy to drop patients off at the front door. Facilities: Clean, comfortable, roomy waiting area. Friendly and efficient front desk staff. Plenty of available masks & hand sanitizer. Waiting area easy to socially distance. Chairs comfortable. Experience making appointment: Courteous receptionist who helped me immediately, and offered two back-to-back appointments (for myself and His Goatness) within four days of my call. Appointments can be booked online, as well, for existing patients. Filling out forms/receiving results/payment: ALL available online, and easy to navigate. Received access to my visit summary within three hours. Received access to my labwork as soon as it was reviewed by the pathologist. Reminders for treatments/diagnostics due show up on the app as well -- makes it easy to keep track of ongoing care. Medical staff: Samoyia, the nurse, was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Dr. Zachary Crowell, new to the practice, was logical, organized, and pleasant, spending all the time needed to sort and make sense of my medical history and needs. He made two referrals to deal with my current needs, all within the same network -- I received callbacks and made appointments before the day was over. I'm going to enjoy working with the both of them, going forward! Bonus: During hours/days the Family Practice is closed, there is an in-network urgent care and lab facility *right downstairs.* Appointments can be either walk-in or booked online.

My most recent wellness visit is a perfect example of this. I went to my primary care physician for my annual wellness visit. The nurse took my vitals and gave me a flu shot. My doctor brought up 2 issues during this visit. The first - insomnia - is no longer an issue, and I informed my doctor of this immediately after she asked about it. The second - high cholesterol - was just briefly mentioned by my doctor since she did not have my lab results at the time. Again, my doctor brought up these issues and the extent of "care" I received was just her asking a question. I was billed for an "office visit" and the codes submitted to my insurance indicated the additional charges were related to diagnosis/care related to insomnia and high cholesterol. This isn't the first time something like this has happened but it will certainly be the last.

Rural networks are starved for talent, equipment, and resources!!), Community Network has been a mess. They stopped communicating, allowed nearly a month to pass before letting me know my doctor had quit, and sent a no-reply message to offer two alternatives, one of which was a doctor I had quit after one visit. I knew I would likely need to leave them once they announced a two-stage confirmation process just to log in to my chart. With just my phone and no computer, I could not comply with their requirement. So, how am I to reply to the automated appointments for services that I had not asked for, nor expected? With primaries leaving Indy networks, available alternatives who are accepting new patients are few and far between. (Governor Braun should stick to systems he actually understands!) T. L. We checked in at registration and were then escorted upstairs. All of the staff and nurses introduced themselves and explained each step of the day and what would happen next so we were always prepared. The whole experience was very efficient. The surgery lasted only 15 or so minutes and we were out the door a few minutes later. On the second floor, there is complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate for those who accompany patients. There is also a TV on the second level. The third level waiting area is a little quieter. The lobby has an atrium in the middle that is open to all floors so you can hear all the noise happening across all 3 levels. There is a cafe on the 2nd floor as well, but the hours are only 9:30am-1:30pm Monday-Friday. Looks like they have soups, sandwiches, bagels, etc. as well as canned, bottled, and fountain drinks. The only negative was I noticed the "patient visitor representative" was just sitting at the desk watching videos on his phone. That is a pet peeve of mine, at least pretend to work while you're at work. There was a lot of signage around so everyone should be able to navigate around anyway.

I have now been in contact with the 1800 number 4 times and been told 3x a manager would call back about this experience. The provider if I'm not mistaken whose name was Tammy it is the only provider who has noted on this bill was extremly unprofessional and carefree. I had a lab for a UTI that was lost/never delivered. I know this because they sent me a notification. No provider called me like normal with an update I then went in person to ask about. I was told yes It was lost and nothing they could do for me and id still have to pay the bill. Ridicuoules to charge for a service that was never completed. I ended up having to go to the emergency room the pain was so bad after waiting days to get my test results. Do not reccomend this location whatsoever.

I would go to the Dr. when needed as I assume most people do. I never had a long wait in the waiting room, nor did I have a long wait once I was taken back & had to wait for the doctor to come in. The staff was always kind & courteous. The problem came when my son got pink eye. No big deal really to me. I call to schedule an appointment, & I'm told the only do same day, or next day appointments, & that I had already missed the cut off for next day appointments. I ask if they can call in an rx because its just pink eye, & they advise me that no he has to be seen, & I should take him to medcheck. So I take him to the medcheck problem solved * temporarily* I notice that when they eye should be about cleared up its actually getting worse. So I continue using the drops as prescribed & start calling again into the Jane pauley health center to attempt to see the dr. The first day I'm told again that I had missed the cut off for same day/next day appointments & to call tomorrow. So I do just that I called before 10am & they were booked for same day, & was told to call back at noon for next day. I call back at noon, & no one answers I call & call & the voice mail is still picking the calls up. Needless to say by now I'm pissed I call back again at about 12:15 or so, & I'm told that they have no next day appointments available & I need to call back tomorrow, & if I want immediate care I should go to medcheck. So, we go back up to medcheck & they issue another rx, & inform me I should follow up w/ my doctor if anything else should happen. Thankfully the second rx cleared it up, & in less than two weeks I found a new doctor. The scheduling system sucks!
