Our son's adenoid removal surgery and mole biopsy landed us here. The hospital itself is full of natural light and plants, giving off a peaceful tone. All of the staff we encountered in the pediatric surgery unit were super sweet and total professionals at navigating a kiddo surgery. I was anxious going into it all not knowing how our four year old would react but they immediately put my mind at ease with all of their childcare specialists and extra bells and whistles (stickers, car "ride" to drive back to surgery, etc).

While IU Health is not my tier 1 provider with my insurance, it's in-network. When it came up that I would require another surgery to address an ongoing issue, I began exploring IU Health North in Carmel in the hope that I would find a smaller, more personal care setting without compromising the quality of care I need as a complex patient. I was told to arrive at 8am for a 10am surgery. Registration is on the first floor adjacent to the information booth. The surgery suite is on the second floor. From surgery, I would go to recovery (of course) and then be kept overnight. Parking is free at IU North (NOTE: While I realize it's a bit of a stereotype, I'm not quite sure why the wealthier Hamilton County hospital offers free parking and the downtown Indy hospital does not, but I digress). While this is a bigger hospital than you might expect, I still consider it one of IU's satellites along with Avon, Saxony, Morgan and others. I arrived on time. Registration was simple via kiosk or with a person. Generally, the person is there to ask questions and direct. Once registered, I was sent up to surgery and the hosting area was almost immediately off the elevators. I checked in, got my arm band, and waited for my turn. I was taken back a bit early by a friendly technician. They got me settled in. Then the nurse and, of course, visits from anesthesiology and the physician doing my surgery. I'd informed the team up front of some trauma care needs. I was pleasantly surprised that this information had been clearly communicated and addressed. This doesn't always occur so thoroughly. I was grateful. I was in surgery on time. The surgery went well and I recovered quickly enough that I'm not sure I was even offered water in recovery. They had me on the floor fairly quickly. I got one nurse who was finally able to help me address an allergy inaccuracy. I was on the fourth floor. Interestingly enough, I was on the maternity ward (post partum). Apparently, they use part of the area for overflow. I was only in overnight, however, I didn't have a negative issue with nursing or techs. All were caring, compassionate, and for the most part attentive (I wasn't a high need patient, so it's hard to gauge attentiveness). The food? Definitely average. I took photos for three out of the four meals. The cafeteria downstairs is definitely better. I'm sure it's the same team, but I'd take this over Methodist most days - they get it to you more quickly, it's warmer, and those taking the order are simply friendlier. I figured IU North would be a little more high tech: 1) It's in Carmel and 2) It's a newer hospital having been built in 2005 with a cancer center addition in 2020. Most of the staff didn't seem to know much about the hospital, a weird deficit in terms of building a culture. Easy questions - like capacity and number of beds - were met with blank stares. It took forever for someone to figure out that there's a phone charger actually on the beds (it worked perfectly with my iPhone 16). I'd brought a charging cord believing that would be true, but could never figure it out. Finally, someone did. I was discharged as expected the next day. Discharge was a bit weird as it wasn't done by my nurse for the day. Instead, there was a virtual nurse (an actual person presenting virtually). Quite honestly, I hated it. It was impersonal and they clearly hadn't read my situation (for example, making comments about walking to a footless wheelchair user). I was also surprised no staff escorted me out. Yes, I had a ride. It still felt weird. I got my meds for home from an in-house pharmacy (Noting that I'd told them to send it to my pharmacy). While it wasn't preferred, it was convenient and it was delivered to my room so I could pay. The atmosphere here is calmer, cleaner, and aesthetically more pleasing. It's MUCH quieter. Instead of room bells buzzing, they have a silent system that greatly reduces the noise. Yes, it's still a hospital and hard to sleep. However, it's much improved. I also found the beds vastly superior to Methodist. Overall, I'd call this a good but not great experience. There are still some bugs to work out. However, the care was great - the procedure I needed was actually only okayed for this location recently. I was very pleased with the trauma-informed care and greatly appreciated the quality care for a generally basic but very necessary inpatient surgery.

We have now been working together for nearly 2.5 years and my experience with her has been life changing. However, I have had some major frustrations with the office side of the organization. There are also some policies that can greatly affect a person with state insurance that are not given up front. It was pretty smooth sailing for quite some time. Before Covid, the receptionist was very kind and warm. Now, all sessions are online, indefinitely, and only a recording answers the phone. For some time, the only thing I really despised was the tiny bathroom available to clients that always seemed dirty...if they ever reopen, they should redo that closet of a bathroom. After about a year of working together, I was warned that my therapist would be gaining her license soon and that they do not accept state insurance for their licensed level tier of therapists. CTS is listed as a "training center for master's degree students and post-graduate counseling residents." My therapist had moved here from Colorado and was practicing at CTS to earn licensure in Indiana. So she was already experienced and I was making great progress with her help. I was not interested in starting over with a student/resident. To continue, we scaled back on the frequency of my sessions so I could afford to pay cash. I see this being extremely problematic for those without the means to finance their own mental health, after they've bonded with a therapist. The most concerning thing, that has affected me most, is their failure to comply with multiple requests from Social Security for my disability claim. Even after they insisted they had sent the requested records, but hadn't, they became pushy about me resubmitting their online release of information form and a copy of my drivers license because "they lost the original." For the sake of a chance at them submitting the paperwork in my appeal, I did so, but...I'm still salty about it. As with any counseling "center," your experience is going to vary greatly according to your situation and the therapist you choose. Here, the business end could use some improvement.

I've long been familiar with the Christian Theological Seminary Counseling Center, a clinical…read moresetting designed to provide a training ground for CTS's master's level students and post-graduate counseling residents who are part of CTS's COAMFTE accredited Marriage and Family Therapy program and Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Fees for services with graduate interns are on a sliding scale and are typically discussed in the first session. The counseling center is located on the South end of the Butler University campus. It's worth noting that CTS sold its land and buildings to Butler University and is now actually renting its spaces. I've gone to CTS's counseling center more than once - partly because I appreciate its spiritual core and partly because of the aforementioned sliding scale counseling services. Due to the pandemic, CTS is limited to telehealth appointments at this time. As most churches are starting to open up, here's hoping that they return to at least a hybrid arrangement in the near future. Christian Theological Seminary is a Disciples of Christ seminary. It leans toward a more progressive theology, though it certainly embraces the full spectrum. That said, I think a lot of folks would be surprised that at a seminary counseling center you can definitely find counselors/therapists willing to and quite skilled at dealing with a wide variety of issues. I've typically found the counseling center to offer a diverse staff. They try to honor requests - for example, as a sexual assault survivor I tend to prefer working with women. I've typically not had difficulty having that request honored. All of the interns are supervised. They may or may not ask you if they can hold sessions in a room that has a one-way mirror (supervisors may observe from the other side). I've never been comfortable with this - that discomfort has always been honored. The counseling center used to actually be within the seminary, though it was moved into its current setting years ago. I've never been quite as comfortable in the current setting - it's not particularly as wheelchair friendly and the bathroom is abysmal. CTS sees clients without regard to race, color, religion/creed, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, marital status, etc. This is consistent with Disciples of Christ. The counseling center has been around since 1967. It's fully accredited as are the CTS counseling programs. I find the CTS counseling center to be one of Indy's better affordable counseling options, though it's certainly not flawless. It's primarily geared toward shorter term counseling issues (once interns become licensed, they no longer work on sliding scale and/or will graduate and move away). While this typically takes 2-3 years, for those looking for a long-term relationship that's less likely here (This is generally true of affordable counseling - # of sessions is important and missed sessions can easily lead to termination of services). The counseling center offers a variety of groups. It does not offer walk-ins or crisis services. They also do not offer medications. Therapists are very good at identifying if someone's needs are outside their scope and will assist in arranging appropriate referrals if needed. Over the years, I've worked with 3 different therapists here. 2 of the 3 were wonderful experiences. The third was, perhaps, less stellar of an arrangement but I'd still consider it good. Overall, I'd consider the CTS Counseling Center one of Indy's better kept secrets for affordable counseling. While the scope is somewhat limited and there are some accessibility concerns (for in-person counseling), I've always felt cared about with my therapists and had good experiences working on issues important to my healing and wellness.

But then again this is not just another assisted living. This facility was one of the first to start temperature screening when COVID started. They also started limiting outside healthcare workers and worked to have consistency with outside health services to limit the risk of exposure. Because of this quick forward thinking they were able to keep COVID out of the building for a year!!! Even then the cases they have had were very mild with less then a handful of lives lost to COVID. That is impressive!! This facility also has Safely You available in all of their apartments...a great program to reduce falls and improve response time. The leadership and staff are not afraid to think outside of the box at processes that improve the lives and safety of their residents. I feel very good recommending Traditions North Willow for anyone looking for assisted living care...it is an excellent place to land.

They didn't reach out to the patients daughter when she passed.. she had to hear from a third party. And when the patient had had a bad fall prior to passing the person incharge named Jason insisted on not calling the fire department and handeling it himself which was a mistake and she couldn't get up for over 30 min and ended up getting help anyway from the firefighters. The food sucks, the patient called it a hell hole it was so bad. The laundry always went missing, the nurses take up to an hour to come when you hit the help button even for emergency!!! they are insistence we get their belongings out of her room so they can make more profit for a new patient to come in. She hated every second in this place and I'll do my best to make sure people don't go here. If you care at all for your loved ones don't take them here!!! And rest in peace to my friend always, you didn't deserve this horrid place, the food, the treatment, the rudeness. They were truly horrible To her in her final days. And now that she has passed they are still being horrible and rushing us packing up her stuff. Called that we have 2 days to do so... she just passed. :( My only positive note is that Winnie was truly special to this patient. She was caring, has patience, was kind and always a glimmer of hope for her. The true bright light and glue of this facility.

My Aunt was discharged from St Vincent Hospital May 23, 2022 to St Vincent Hospice…read more This program didn't work for her as she was not terminal, however, has a wound on her heel that was slowly healing from surgery. There was no further care St Vincent could do. St Vincent Hospice is a nice place, friendly Nurses and all, however, little patient care for those that are not truly terminal. It's all about the comfort and easing them towards death. We were not about that for my Aunt. The one Nurse emphasized the need to sign the DNR=Do Not Resuscitate form. My cousin refused. We were looking at hope for her to heal well and get back to living (my Aunt's wishes). We had her transitioned to Home Health from Hospice. It's just the beginning so far, however, there always light at the end of the tunnel. We continue to pray and have God lead the way with Jesus interceding on our behalf. With God all things are possible!!! Amen. Not knocking down this place. It may be ok for some people. It may work for them, however, for us, my family. It did not work. We are on the road towards recovery along with hope.

I wanted to…read morewrite a positive review ASAP, because the day my father was being transferred from home hospice care to the St. Vincent facility, I did a quick google search and nearly had a panic attack after seeing the bad reviews on Yelp. COVID-19 note: As of the end of March 2020, they have a limit of 1 visitor per patient--not 1 person at a time, 1 person period. It's really unfortunate, but obviously necessary. You'll be screened at the door (questionnaire about travel and symptoms, then they'll take your temperature using a forehead thermometer) before you can come in. Obviously there are many parts about a terminally ill parent going into hospice that are awful, but it had nothing to do with the hospice or their staff. Everyone we encountered---doctors, nurses and CNAs---were all amazing. They were great about making sure that my father wasn't in pain, and did so quickly. We never had to wait a long time after pressing the call button for someone to come in, and they were always helpful in suggesting medications that might help his symptoms. My dad was there for 6 days before he died, and I can't say enough about how thankful I am that he was able to be free of pain in his last days. Erin, MJ, Denise and Jess were particularly wonderful. The facility is very quiet. No one is hooked up to beeping monitors, and there aren't any overhead speaker announcements like you hear in hospitals. Patients can watch TV or you can play music for them. Each room has French doors that look out onto a peaceful courtyard with a pond, so you'll often see ducks/geese. There are birdfeeders outside each room as well--volunteers normally fill these, but they're not right now. We brought some of our own birdseed and filled them ourselves. Some amenities I can think of off the top of my head: * family bathrooms with showers. They have towels/washcloths and there are baskets of toiletries if you need something and have forgotten yours. * refreshment station - Coke/Sprite etc. fountain drinks and the really good hospital ice, plus coffee and tea are available for patients and visitors. * they don't have a cafeteria for family/visitors, but you're welcome to leave and bring back food (you don't have to get re-screened if you leave and come back right away) or get DoorDash delivery. * the chapel and other social/meeting areas are currently closed. My sister is currently a resident at Maple Park. I visit a couple times per week; due to my work…read moreschedule, I usually visit early evenings and weekends. The majority of the times,I'm there; the aides function as baby sitters. sitting at the desk or other chairs minimally interacting with residents. Sometimes the TV is on but most residents are not wheeled close enough to watch or hear. Music is not played, although research clearly shows music is excellent therapy for patients with dementia, which the majority of residents suffer from. I will usually play music on my phone while there and residents visually perk up. A couple times, I've asked the aides to please put some music on to no avail. My sister is in her wheelchair all day from morning till night. When I come in, she is sitting with her head just hanging down. She is verbal and experiences minimal conversation with the aides, as they sit, observe with minimal interaction; virtual babysitting. The room is usually just dead silent. There is an activities lady who comes in during the week days and she clearly makes a wonderful difference for these dear residents. Early evenings and weekends are a depressing atmosphere at Maple Park. Ive spoken with my sister's social worker with minimal results. The aides appear bored and rarely smile with the residents. This is not the prettiest facility, but please, please, PLEASE don't let that hold you back!…read more I moved my very sick father, from a beautiful facility in Carmel, where he was ignored, his health deteriorated, and he was hospitalized several times. The staff at American Senior Communities in Westfield takes care of their patients, keeps the family updated, and works their best to get every last benefit you can out of Medicare and Medicaid. The facility director gave me his personal cell phone number; and the head of nursing gave me her cell phone number as well. You will always be able to reach someone. It is a wonderful facility, that will take great care of your family member. One of my dad's nurses actually sketched a picture of him, and shared it with me; she truly cared for my father. I will take excellent care over pretty rooms any day.

The hospital is clean, bright, good dining, good amenities, and visitor bed (I slept there with my daughter's visits) is comfortable. The doctors and nurses here are the really deal! We have received excellent care every visit.

The staff, for the most part, seem to love not only working here but they also live what they do. This shows in how they care for their guests and the facility.
