I went to the bush school for 7 years, and had to leave after my sixth grade year. The lower…read moreschool had it's problems, but it was mostly the middle school that was the reason for me leaving. The staff and teachers do not intervine bullying or physical fights. And I had a teacher that would bully me for the amusement of my classmate, and nothing was done about it in the end. My parents respectfully told the head of the middle school the problems, and he did absolutely nothing, and started trying to gaslight my family into thinking it was somehow fixed. The middle school counsellor was absolute garbage, she threatened to call the police on me when I stood I to leave her office to go to the bathroom after I got falsely accused of self harming in my science class. They were not flexible about teaching kids the way they need to be taught in order to learn. While I hadn't yet been diagnosed with autism I think that they still should have been more patient with me because it was obvious the way that they were teaching me, as well as a few other kids, in a way that worked for us. They also fired a bunch of beloved teachers for no good reason, and promoted a bunch of terrible teachers including one that was kind of racist. They have prided themselves about being inclusive to everyone, yet would not let me use the bathroom correlated with my gender identity because I'm trans. And they treated popular kids way bette. There's a TON of other problems with the bush school that I just don't want to get into right now, but I hope you get the point. I would put 0/5 stars if I could, I do not recommend this school at all.

My child goes to the Villa Academy…read more We want our kid to be a decent citizen. If she becomes a corporate tycoon, a brilliant scientist or an astronaut, great. But we would like her to do those things while leading a life that respects her fellow man/woman. Next to the door of one of the kindergarten rooms at Villa, the teacher has created a mural with the words, "Respect, Compassion, Self-Discipline, Citizenship, Trustworthiness, Honesty, Responsibility, Fairness, Perseverance, Integrity". The Villa Academy is not some haven for rich kids that merely gives lip service to these values. They walk the walk. Even the earliest preschool classes have seasonal projects that focus on helping others. Service to others is a main focal point. Our child's teachers have all been excellent. Small class sizes with classroom assistants keeps the classroom environment orderly and focused on learning. Mrs Olson, you ROCK. To an outsider, I'm sure Villa might appear to be a bastion of the WASPs. Be careful. As soon as you drop your guard, and stop viewing people as wealthy snobs, you just might discover that most parents at Villa are really very warm hearted folks. People go out of their way to help each other out. And Villa parents are very, very dedicated to both the kids and the school. While my child has benefited from Villa, I think I have grown as a person as well. For what its worth, there are plenty of folks who are not Catholic who send their kids to Villa, and quite a few who are not Christians. We are very, very happy Villa parents. I won't make light of the cost, its not cheap. But people send their children there for a reason, and its not to brag to the neighbors. Its an excellent school, and an excellent community.

Traditional school + tutoring was unable to teach him to read, especially because he was stubbornly against learning to read. Homeschooling with him was frankly a disaster. I'm very tenacious and resilient normally, but his stubbornness just kept defeating my efforts. Morningside is pricy, but in our extreme case we needed real help. My son is now reading and the relief is hard to convey. He's still behind his grade level, but showing truly amazing progress. Thank you Morningside!

It was good the first year my 14 year old daughter went here. However her second year here we had…read moresome problems. A teacher named Brien would get upset at her, even slamming the clip boards right near her on the table. She has PTSD so it really upset her when he did that. Also let's talk about Shiloh. They are pure evil, having a coffee mug that says "tears of my students." Aren't teachers supposed to be helpful to the new generations? They yelled at my daughter for apparently laughing during class when she didn't even do such thing. After school one day my child was in tears saying how Shiloh made them have an anxiety attack. And apparently I wasn't the only parent who complained/reported them. Another thing, they said they don't accept students with behavioral issues yet it seems quite the opposite. Another girl hit my child on the back really hard and hurt her. She told me that one did anything. The teachers here love to make children cry. Also forcing their political beliefs on minors who can't even drive yet! That's up to the parents to decide they should talk to their kids about political stuff, not the teachers. And no before any of you come at me it wasn't part of a lesson. The teachers just liked to have an audience to vent about controversial crap. They put the students in somewhat dangerous situations by exposing them to homeless people in the area and other strange things. One teacher got mad at some students who didn't want to participate in a protest. Are you serious?? That's not their decision to make. They can make their own choices. You don't know why they don't want to participate. Could be personal reasons right? For math and the speedy math problem worksheets like cum 34. Are you serious?? That just sounds very inappropriate. They wouldn't let anyone count on their fingers. Um... doesn't Howard Stern count on his? If it's not hurting anyone let them do it. It's fine. The timers were terrible. Brien blamed my daughter's entire class for supposedly hiding a timer and making it go off to be funny. Not only was that mean but it was a very bad assumption. My daughter said none of them did it. This is the most woke school I've encountered and that's coming from a Democrat. Don't take your child here, you'll regret it. However, I'm most angry with Shiloh. My daughter's friend said how they were talking to them about demonic crap and ghosts. Why?? Why are you talking to students about these kinds of things in a school setting? I tried to tell the principal this but she didn't seem to care about my concerns. The teachers act like immature students rather than the actual students themselves! One refused to let another student go to the restroom when she was menstruating. She ended up going home early due to embarrassment. I'm glad I took my daughter out of here before it got any worse.
