We turned here after another more traditional preschool didn't work out for my toddler, because the teachers felt his separation anxiety was too intense for them to manage. From the first day, I realized I'd lucked into something incredibly special. The school is authentically child-centered, play-based and child-led -- but those buzzwords don't fully convey the particular genius of these teachers. They teach from firm philosophical beliefs that children already whole, and they guide children in conveying their messages about how they need to be supported. The teachers take their work very seriously - but they're also full of fun and warmth, and the space is a kid's dreamland. The co-op model can demand a lot of parents, too, but I've come to value the work as an investment in building community. Having a kid during the pandemic, I've struggled to find and create community as a parent, and the collective work of running the preschool naturally builds community in a way that other settings haven't for me. I look forward to my "working grownup" days in the classroom, I always learn from the teachers, and in our second year now, it's so rewarding to build relationships with kids other than my own and see them grow up. There…read moreare required monthly meetings for the parents to attend that involve a learning session as well and, as a parent, having to spend valuable kid-free time in a meeting was not something I looked forward to, but I always came away with valuable information. Now, for the bad part. I was immensely disappointed and completely surprised to see that the demographics of the class did not match the demographics of the community, NOT EVEN CLOSE. I mentioned this at a parent-teacher meeting, it was uncomfortable for everyone and I didn't really get the sense that anything would be done about it. I'm not sure how many points is the proper amount to dock for this but it is my one and only complaint and I don't have another preschool to compare if this is just a norm with co ops.

We did a tour of this school. The first class room we visited smelled terrible. There were hiding…read morespots in the class that kids could go hide and not be seen. The room was dark and depressing. The teacher sat in her corner knitting. Way to help educate the kids!!!!! I would be so upset if one of my employees I was paying just sat In a corner knitting. None of the kids interacting w my daughter and when she tries to interact with them they were rude to her and didn't wanna play with her. This was my first red flag. Off to the next room. The teachers were warm and welcoming. The kids picked up that vibe and were very sweet. Second red flag- we all went to the bathroom. I went in with my daughter. All the kids pee in the same room with toilets lined up. For whatever reason, I was allowed into this area and should not have been. I was exposed to all of the kids private parts. I could have been anyone in this room with the kids. Had this been my child and other random people in there watching my kid pee, i would have been really upset. Kids were getting toilet paper all over the place and laying on toilets. It was gross. And there was no teacher in there to help. Maybe I'm more old fashioned but I think boys and girls need separate facilities and same gender teachers assisting if possible. Then another red flag. A girl needed to change her dress cause it got wet in the classroom. There's a male and female teacher. The male teacher left the room with her to change her clothes. Again, it should be the female if possible. And my final concern. The final room had a teacher who could barely get off her chair to help the kids. this is a huge disadvantage and. It was such a hinderance that it made it so she couldn't properly care for the children.

The school opened in the fall of 1979, and has been setting the standard for quality Christian preschool and kindergarten ever since. The classes focus on giving children their very best possible start in school. All three of my children attended this school for preschool and kindergarten, and it was the best decision we ever made - I loved it so much I decided to teach here!

It's been a few years since my oldest son attended this high school. When he came to the US from…read moreChina back in 2016, he was an outstanding student. In order to graduate from high school in the US he needed to pass English language and writing competency tests. After the first couple of attempts, the results were not positive. In working with Lacey, his counselor at school, we were able to get him additional help and support and she worked with us to let us know when the next test would be. We got down to the last possible test of the year and he was understandably nervous. He knew that not passing would mean taking summer school classes and probably attending school for at least one more semester. All of his friends had graduated and gone on to college. Steve's life dream wants to become a physician in the US. He played himself like I had not seen before and was as prepared for the last test as he could've been. I remember driving him to the test location and rent in that morning. He came home after the exam and said that he felt pretty good and his counselor called me at work one afternoon to let me know that he had passed. His dream of becoming a physician Was just a few steps away. Steve was accepted to the University of Washington where he graduated with honors. He has now been accepted and is enrolled in medical school in eastern Washington and doing very well. Our family would like to thank the staff, especially Lacey, for going above and beyond and helping a student achieve their dreams . Thank you so much.
