I went to the bush school for 7 years, and had to leave after my sixth grade year. The lower school had it's problems, but it was mostly the middle school that was the reason for me leaving. The staff and teachers do not intervine bullying or physical fights. And I had a teacher that would bully me for the amusement of my classmate, and nothing was done about it in the end. My parents respectfully told the head of the middle school the problems, and he did absolutely nothing, and started trying to gaslight my family into thinking it was somehow fixed. The middle school counsellor was absolute garbage, she threatened to call the police on me when I stood I to leave her office to go to the bathroom after I got falsely accused of self harming in my science class. They were not flexible about teaching kids the way they need to be taught in order to learn. While I hadn't yet been diagnosed with autism I think that they still should have been more patient with me because it was obvious the way that they were teaching me, as well as a few other kids, in a way that worked for us. They also fired a bunch of beloved teachers for no good reason, and promoted a bunch of terrible teachers including one that was kind of racist. They have prided themselves about being inclusive to everyone, yet would not let me use the bathroom correlated with my gender identity because I'm trans. And they treated popular kids way bette. There's a TON of other problems with the bush school that I just don't want to get into right now, but I hope you get the point. I would put 0/5 stars if I could, I do not recommend this school at all. read more

This school hasn't fostered the best experience for me and made me feel like I'm milked for my diversity. It feels weird to me when it's generally a predominantly white school and then with many problems surrounding the culture of boys. There was an incident leading to phones being banned off of campus due to harassment and it's hard to feel like this school is very genuine when it markets itself as a fairytale school. I wouldn't say this school sucks, it's just not as amazing as one might first believe. Just remember, just because you go to a private school doesn't people will stop being cruel. read more

Ive been going here since kindergarten, it's a great school. However in 5th grade (the 2020-2021 school year) we had no homework and school was really easy (probably because of covid) It was really hard to transition from that to middle school where there was homework almost everyday and it was areally stressful. I also like the food, I like how the school is peanut/nut free now becuase that makes it a lot safer for kids with those allergies. Also there's a lot of people who say slurs such as the F slur and R slur and make fun of autism and the teachers don't really do anything about it. There's also a lot of leaving out espically at lunch. The curriculums good, the teachers make really fun activities. So other than the social and transition problems, bush is a great school. read more

The Bush School is a great school. I know some staff and administrators who work here. Great and wonderful people. The school itself is great. I have been here for some community events and enjoyed myself in this school community. Clean and new facilities. I also know students who have attended here for secondary education. read more

I started here in 5th grade in 1976, and stayed until I graduated. I can honestly say that it was the perfect environment for me. I was allowed to think creatively, and we were respected as students. I, for one, felt completely nurtured as a student and a person over the eight years I spent there. I don't know how it is now (besides expensive) but while I was there Bush was really my family. By building us up as students, I think the community of Bush really shapes terrific human beings. I met my best friends there, and many of my classmates have gone on to wonderful, successful lives. Unlike many people, I LOVED high school. I would have been lost without Bush. My brother also went there and had a similarly wonderful experience. Unfortunately (or fortunately, it's hard to tell), I did not get into Stanford, though one of my classmates went on to Harvard while many others went on to good or great universities. If you are a parent, I think you can be confident that your child is in good hands. read more

I'm a lifer here and I'm graduating this year. Bush has definitely shaped me to become the student and person I am today, and I will cherish my 13 years here(it's kindergarten through 12th grade). I love the low student to faculty ratio and the small classroom sizes, because it brings a more in-depth learning. Many alumni I've talked to said that Bush has definitely prepared them for college, and in some cases, Bush's classes were even harder than their college courses! read more

The Bush School has more than met our expectations. Although we had been a public school family, we were immediately welcomed when my kids started at Bush in 6th grade. We knew it "felt" good on our initial visits, but it wasn't until we were parents of a student there that we were able to completely appreciate the school's emphasis on experiential learning and just how far they go to help students grow into smart, poised, responsible young people. Bush has created a safe and enriching environment for kids to explore and challenge themselves academically while encouraging social and personal responsibility. The Middle School does a great job of preparing students academically and socially for the rigors of Upper School. Highlights of the Upper School are the academic offerings (very strong science, math, history and english), 16 kids (often less) per class, unique music program, experiential activities and international homestays/trips and the overall emphasis on collaborative learning (much like in the professional world). Bush students are also recognized by many esteemed colleges around the country. read more

We are relocating to Seattle from out of state, and had to arrange visits to private schools during a short trip to the city. Every school we contacted gracisouly accommodated our tight schedule except Bush. The very rude 20-something dude in admissions told me that Bush doesn't meet with one-on-one prospective parents -- families must attend one of their regularly scheduled tours to get any info, and too bad if you're not going to be in town for one of those. As I said, this news was delivered in a rude fashion and sent the message that if they are that disdainful of prospective families, when they are in supposedly sales mode, they must be exceedingly rude to those enrolled. Or else they just don't want "outsiders." Thankfully, we found a great school where the staff was interested in our needs as a family and treated us with respect. read more
