We felt the effects of the door slam each and every time it was used. It was horrible ! As for the lower level garden area bar it is a very nice area. Bar service was hit and miss . We ordered food while sitting at the garden area bar, my order was messed up . Also, the server who brought our food out asked if we needed anything else . We told him and we never seen him again. The bartender told us that that person won't be back . He went himself and brought back what we needed . I opted not to send my food back. We went up to the rooftop bar a few days later . The drinks were horrible. We ordered appetizers and entrees. I only ordered an entree . The appetizers came out about 15 minutes later and the main dishes took over an hour. The manager greeted us before we ordered our food . As we waited a few servers & the manager swung by and asked if everything was okay. I told the manager that our food was taking extremely long . Didn't matter to him I guess . Finally our food arrived and the person asked do we need anything else . I requested some mayo, he said okay. He ran down the stairs as if he was headed to get it . He didn't . The next time I saw him, he had another table's food in hand. He whizzed by me and I asked if he had the mayo. I had already finished my food but it didn't matter . He totally ignored me ! I do recommend this hotel but I would recommend that you go elsewhere for a meal.

To start, you have to call for availability and to book a room. You will likely talk to Joe, one of the owners, who always seems to run the front desk. Joe is a TOTAL sweetheart. He made the booking process easy and simple and wished us safe travels on our way to the Motel. We were also going to be arriving a bit late and Joe kept the front desk open so we could pick up our keys! The rooms are so cute and have almost everything you need for a weekend away. We had a fridge, microwave, tv, and Keurig in our room. The only think that seemed to be missing was a hairdryer so be sure to bring your own when you come! One of the best things about the Motel was that Joe gave us a ton of suggestions for restaurants and things to do on the coast. The Islander Motel also provides beach tags for guests so you don't have to buy a daily one at the beach. Our stay at the Islander Motel was awesome! We will definitely be coming back to visit again sometime soon. Thank you Joe!!

Joe was the best tenant you could ask for and we were amazed by the customer service. The room was extraordinary and very clean. We had room 1A and had a large bathroom with a beautiful tub and sink. Each room had hangers, a tv with Apple TV, a k-cup coffee machine, and two full beds that fit me my husband and son. Each room had rocking chairs outside and we were able to sit and watch the sunset from the room. Everything was in walking distance and i would say we will be coming back. Very clean. I travel a lot and normally never walk barefoot. I had no problem at the Magnolia house. Well done! The outside of the house was lacking detail. For example, the chairs were broken and the wicker chairs are falling apart so it wasn't very welcoming to sit down. The inside of main house was lovely and Victorian feel throughout. The outside, however, was missing the detail again. The grounds were overgrown and also needed sweeping. They have a pool table outside that looks terrible. They had one bike with a broken chain. Again this is not a show stopper but it just gives you insight as to how the care or lack of care to the outside. The service was good. Very friendly and inviting. The food was ok. I wouldn't call it gourmet style and I was a little disappointed to have sausage 2 days in a row. I was expecting something different. My big complaint is no Wifi. We were totally expecting and planned to stream music and relax on our porch. The day we checked in we were told Tony went to buy new router. The next morning I confirmed I was accessing the correct access point but I was being prompted for a password. I asked the waitress if she knew the password. She said she needed to ask Tony. I felt bad because i didn't want to make a big deal. Tony came out and advised there is no password but then I showed him that I was, in fact, being promoted for a password. He seemed a annoyed and said well I can't help you right now and now is not the time. Now I felt really bad. I certainly understood but i wasn't asking him to troubleshoot right then, I just needed him to know that his new router was in fact prompting users for a password. There was never any follow up to resolve the issue. Tony only complained about spending 4 hours trying to fix it the day before. So we were out of luck to stream music or videos. Lucky for me I didn't need it for work. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to others. You really won't find a more friendlier team on the island who make you feel at home. They seemed to have a lot of availability in the high season where other B&Bs had no vacancies. The location is perfect. Very close to all the restaurants and about 2 and half blocks from the beach.

And the more senior person at the front desk was very competent. However, the younger woman at the desk, who was there the rest of the time, was not. When my boys asked where was the beach (first timers, didn't know which direction to walk), she answered that she didn't know. Seriously?? You're working in a beach area! We didn't have enough bath towels. When I asked her for additional towels for the boys, she only had one bath and one hand towel. I actually had no bath towel in my room and had to use a hand towel to dry off. They were like sand paper. Towels are a pretty basic need for a hotel stay, not a luxury item. You shouldn't run out of towels. Also, the fee to replace a lost beach pass is exorbitant. $75!! We stayed at another hotel the next night and I inquired about their beach pass replacement fee, which was $50. This place is a glorified motel that charges like a 4 star hotel, while offering barely any amenities. We stayed at a different hotel the next night with incredible amenities and stellar customer service, for not much more than I paid at the Boulevard. Live and learn.
