We felt the effects of the door slam each and every time it was used. It was horrible ! As for the lower level garden area bar it is a very nice area. Bar service was hit and miss . We ordered food while sitting at the garden area bar, my order was messed up . Also, the server who brought our food out asked if we needed anything else . We told him and we never seen him again. The bartender told us that that person won't be back . He went himself and brought back what we needed . I opted not to send my food back. We went up to the rooftop bar a few days later . The drinks were horrible. We ordered appetizers and entrees. I only ordered an entree . The appetizers came out about 15 minutes later and the main dishes took over an hour. The manager greeted us before we ordered our food . As we waited a few servers & the manager swung by and asked if everything was okay. I told the manager that our food was taking extremely long . Didn't matter to him I guess . Finally our food arrived and the person asked do we need anything else . I requested some mayo, he said okay. He ran down the stairs as if he was headed to get it . He didn't . The next time I saw him, he had another table's food in hand. He whizzed by me and I asked if he had the mayo. I had already finished my food but it didn't matter . He totally ignored me ! I do recommend this hotel but I would recommend that you go elsewhere for a meal.

To start, you have to call for availability and to book a room. You will likely talk to Joe, one of the owners, who always seems to run the front desk. Joe is a TOTAL sweetheart. He made the booking process easy and simple and wished us safe travels on our way to the Motel. We were also going to be arriving a bit late and Joe kept the front desk open so we could pick up our keys! The rooms are so cute and have almost everything you need for a weekend away. We had a fridge, microwave, tv, and Keurig in our room. The only think that seemed to be missing was a hairdryer so be sure to bring your own when you come! One of the best things about the Motel was that Joe gave us a ton of suggestions for restaurants and things to do on the coast. The Islander Motel also provides beach tags for guests so you don't have to buy a daily one at the beach. Our stay at the Islander Motel was awesome! We will definitely be coming back to visit again sometime soon. Thank you Joe!!

Joe was the best tenant you could ask for and we were amazed by the customer service. The room was extraordinary and very clean. We had room 1A and had a large bathroom with a beautiful tub and sink. Each room had hangers, a tv with Apple TV, a k-cup coffee machine, and two full beds that fit me my husband and son. Each room had rocking chairs outside and we were able to sit and watch the sunset from the room. Everything was in walking distance and i would say we will be coming back. Unfortunately this meant that the heated pool, the restaurant and the bar were all closed. Hotel prices should be much cheaper because of this reason, but they aren't. Thankfully, there is a restaurant called Dockside within walking distance on the main boulevard. Rooms are pretty small. Ours had 2 double beds and the area to walk around them is tight. Bathroom area to access the toilet is also tight. You have to enter and squeeze behind the door to close it to access the toilet and we are not large people. The shower stall was nice and big and very clean. It comes with shampoo/conditioner/bath gel in dispensers attached to the shower wall. Blow dryer in the bathroom sink cabinet. There is also an ironing board and iron in the closet. The room looked to be nicely renovated with a coastal and light/bright vibe to it. Everything was clean which is important. The air conditioner was a bit noisy at moments with some rattling but it did the job and didn't keep us awake. There is a mini fridge and a large tv on the wall. The best part is probably the proximity to the beach with easy access.

The day before our check-in we were told that we had to be moved to a first floor standard room, and that floor choices were not guaranteed. Right where I have to put my face. Lovely. Also . The room is extremely, damp ! Everything feels wet all of the time. I believe it is due to the fact that the bathroom doesn't have a fan , which I understand isn't necessary if you have a window in the bathroom, but I think at a beachfront hotel should have a fan in the bathroom to prevent the dampness. And because it is so damp , there is mold on the blinds in the bathroom. Shown in picture. Anyway - the furniture is all chewed up underneath- also due to dampness. I drop something on the floor and had to look under the bed for it, and it was certainly a sight to see.! don't look under the bed just ignore it They only give you 3 flat pillows per bed. You can ask for more but every pillow is flat. And when the woman brought it out to me, I'm not even sure if she had washed her hands before touching the pillow, and she had the pillow snuggled up against her chest when she carried it out It smelled like her perfume, and I wasn't happy with that. The towels have stains and are very thin and rough! The staff was rude and not friendly. I will probably never stay here again. Sorry

The self-serve coffee bar and ice machines saved us from having to go to a coffee shop every morning so that was a definite plus! There's a small deli/convenience store within walking distance where you can get baked goods and other foods and an ice cream shop with bike rentals a bit further away but still manageable. The beach entrance was right across the street from our parking lot! It is a short drive to liquor and grocery stores as well as the hustle and bustle of the mom and pop shops and arcade/amusements for the kids. We will definitely be visiting again!
