History
Established in 1867.
The Magnolia House was built as a boarding house. The third floor was dormitory style and the fisherman stayed there, There were also many hunters, captains, merchants that used the Magnolia House. Where Buckalews restaurant is now, is where the ships tied up so The Magnolia House was extremely convenient for the people who did business on the water. Which was everyone.
The Magnolia House has changed owners many times over her long life. Her interior was completely renovated thirty years ago to the twelve bedrooms, twelve bath guest house it is today. Every owner adds their own touch and although we love victorian and would never change the exterior, we did lighten up the interior. We don't like heavy, dark curtains. They were replaced with blinds and lace. The formal dining room is now also light airy and three tables instead of one long one for better guest comfort while dining.
We want our guests to have the best vacation & include everything we can think of so you enjoy.
