ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL SERVICE AND QUALITY! This review is being posted only after we reached out to St.Moritz using their feedback forum, waited 5 days and there was no response. We are utterly appalled by the experience we had at St. Moritz. We have enjoyed meals at this establishment for other occasions, but after Sunday brunch I am completely disgusted. We ordered two orders of the 'Avocado Toast' which according to the brunch menu costs a whopping $24 and is explicitly described as "two slices of multigrain toast, topped with mashed avocado, fire roasted tomato salsa, crispy prosciutto and two eggs." What we were actually served was a complete insult. Round 1: The plate arrives, and the toast is literally BLACK. Burnt to the healthy carcinogen it morphed into. How a chef looks at charcoal bread and thinks, "Yeah, send that out to a paying customer," is beyond me. Toast should NEVER come out of a kitchen black. We were informed that all the toast is prepared over a fire roasted grill. Perhaps this establishment should invest $39 and buy a toaster rather than relying on medieval culinary practices. Remember, we're talking about bread, not a 5 pound lobster that has to be remade. Round 2: We sent it back. When the replacement finally returned 25 minutes later, it was a total joke. Instead of the promised "mashed avocado," they slapped down straight-up guacamole. To make matters worse, the salsa was dumped on the side, and there was NO prosciutto whatsoever. If I wanted a chip-less guacamole dip on burnt bread, I would have asked for it. When a menu explicitly states 'mashed avocado' it should simply be that! When we called over the manager, Shannon to address this disaster, her response was completely jaw-dropping. She looked us in the eye and indifferently told us, "Well, this is just the way we make it.", " perhaps your idea of what this should be is different than the way we make it." I'd like to personally thank Shannon for the cost free lesson of how to eloquently demeanor the customer, talk down to them, and try to flex her superior culinary skills, all in a very public setting where other patrons looked on with amazement as she skillfully demonstrated how to deliver a very poor customer experience. Excuse me? We have eaten avocado toast at dozens of other places, on different continents and different islands, and it has never been guacamole, nor has it missing half the ingredients listed on the menu. Shannon's demeanor was incredibly negative, her attitude was profoundly unprofessional, and she could not have cared less about our experience. If you are going to charge premium prices, you need to deliver premium food and professional service. Absolutely unacceptable. Never again. read more

My family was visiting and we took friends from here for a lovely dinner Friday night. We got a pretzel for an appetizer. My sister and a friend ordered the pork schnitzel, my other friend ordered the chicken schnitzel, my aunt had the shrimp on a skewer and I had fish tacos. Everyone enjoyed their dish. I sent my salmon tacos back because the blackening spice used was soooo salty. They refired my tacos and the second batch were so much better. We shared dessert or coffee and had great conversation. Took a day trip out to Lake Mohawk in Sparta and was walking around town looking for a place for some drinks and apps. Saw the lovely outdoor seating area with a good amount of people hanging outside so we decided to try it. Got a very nice mocktail (Watermelon based) and my husband had the draft IPA. Waitstaff was attentive and the manager stopped by to chat and check in on us. We forgo the apps and went straight to dinner. I had the sweet potato gnocchi and my husband had the cod with string beans and mashed potatoes. Before the meal was served they came out with some foccacio bread and oil. It was very tasty and the meals itself were good. The portion size of the cod was huge and the sweet potato gnocchi, while not light and airy but more on the dense side was tasty and very filling. While the restaurant was beautiful, clean, and aesthetically appealing with a great location across from the lake, and the food was decent, what left us most disappointed was the service. Bad service is really pet peeve of mine and no amount of good food or view can overlook that. We went for lunch on a gorgeous fall afternoon. Even with a reservation, we had to wait 40 to 45 minutes to be seated, which was fine since we wanted to sit outdoors. Our server started off well, but the attitude noticeably changed as the lunch went on. Drinks like sangria, wine, and cocktails were fine. Appetizers, spinach and artichoke dip and pretzels, were enjoyable. Mains, including Atlantic salmon, blackened salmon tacos, and chicken schnitzel, were decent but nothing special. The salmon was well cooked but small for the price and the tacos were decent but salty. Schnitzels were fine though. The service became the main issue. While we were still eating, our server asked if we were ready for the check without offering dessert or more drinks. When we requested the dessert menu and ordered another round of drinks, the impatience was clear through sighs and eye rolls. When a friend ordered coffee, the server almost threw up hands and said, '" Is there anything else you need? Tell me now" This felt abrupt and unprofessional. While I understand they were understaffed but that's not an excuse for bad behavior or to show frustration. We were nothing but very polite and in a happy mood. Guests should not have to feel like an inconvenience. The setting is lovely, but the service ruined what could have been an enjoyable afternoon. read more

Mother's day buffet.... what a joke! Servers dishing out the food from behind the bar... had to wait in line through the pastry's, omelets etc. to get 1 link of sausage. but it is what it is... The omelets were undercooked. Mine was actually runny inside, the salmon was a strange color (some purple and redish ), and was totally uneatable. The french toast was Italian bread or a baguette (I think), sliced long ways and hard as a rock, like they cooked it the night before. So, we dipped it in the maple syrup and ate it like a crispy pretzel. The pasta with vodka sauce was way too spicey to eat, seemed like it was loaded with red, or cayenne pepper. Green beans were raw with olive oil. If they were attempting an Italian side dish they totally failed. What a joke (on us), never again, nothings changed! And all of this for $60 a head??? read more

The waitress was nice but after a long shift was a bit inattentive. They were out of several of our main course choices and what we did have (chicken schnitzel and cod) was boring. Finally made it into St. Moritz in Sparta for lunch and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. Stephanie was our server, and was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was very welcoming and clean with a rustic cabin vibe. The menu is extensive with daily food and drink specials to choose from. My guest and I shared a chopped salad for an appetizer and it was delicious. The portion isn't huge, so if ordering as your entree, I would add an app or protein to it. I chose the grilled cheese sandwich and it was mouthwatering. Crispy, buttery toast with a thick slab of havarti and onion/spinach mixture sandwiched together. Yum!! As my side, I went for sweet potato fries, which were fresh and crispy. My guest ordered the Bubba J chicken sandwich and rated it a 4/5. For my drink, I got the margarita rose special and while sweet, it was refreshing. For an appetizer, two sandwiches, and three drinks, our total bill was $115 with tip. I really enjoyed the ambience, service and food at St. Moritz; If you're looking for a nice place for lunch and dinner across the street from Lake Mohawk, it's worth a try. read more

My wife and I stopped in here this past Saturday for lunch. We got the pretzel appetizer and shared it. It was really yummy. My wife ordered the BYO burger and I ordered the Bubba J fried chicken sandwich. They both came with fries and both sandwiches were amazing. All the employees we encountered were so nice and willing to help at a moments notice. We drove an hour to get there to eat and walk around the lake and it was well worth it. I found the atmosphere to be lacking indoors and a quick trip to the ladies room I was navigating between empty chairs and folding tray stands that were open and not in use. The ladies room was extremely small and to get in and out of one stall if you were anything larger then a size 8 dress, good luck. I shared a cheese plate and had a pasta seafood dish. Cheese plate, nothing special. The dish was bland, pasta overcooked and what was really unappealing is they served it with a bowl on top of the pasta indicating it was sitting under the heat for a while and the condensation was in the food. Visiting NJ this week after having moved four years ago. We knew wanted to eat at At. Moritz again. The staff is so very accommodating and Justin makes a mean soery martini. We loved the stove pipe chopped salad. I tried the pasta with rape pesto. It was a bit too spicy for me. Hubby thought the beef skewers were very good and so was his chicken schnitzel. Stopped for lunch a couple days ago. Nice place, and the best place if you want to bring your (well behaved) dog because they offer multiple tables in the outdoor biergarden. The outdoor area is mostly shaded but they also had umbrellas on most tables. They likely don't allow dogs inside so it's a fair weather place for Fido. One of the best meals! I ordered the pork chop, expecting to be disappointed as I always am. This was in a word "shocking" as to just how good it was. NEVER in my life have I ever had a pork chop as moist and tasty as this one! My wife had a shrimp dish and said we are coming back here soon. She was right. Three nights later we returned with good friends who own a farm and has a meat store on premises. He and another guest also order the pork chop to delight. I ordered the scallops and was not disappointed. Long story short we have returned 4 times since the first and now belong to their "club" deal with discounts. I think it's time to update this review as it's been awhile and I've been back several times. The outside area is great in the summer. I've found meals I really like. I love that they do a simple chicken, shrimp or salmon with a choice of garlic butter or vanilla bourbon sauce. That vanilla bourbon sauce is delicious. I want to pick the plate. I have to say they are really good with sides. I always like every side I have. I think it's a little pricey but it's worth it. They have a reward program so you could get coupons for spending there which is nice. They also have this "no peeking" coupon program that is super fun that they do a couple times a year. read more

The food here is excellent. Besides a beautiful location at Lake Mohawk in Sparta with outdoor dining, I'm super impressed with their chef, Lorenzo Fazio. He is definitely a rising star! He's got an impressive background as well, in his culinary training and career to show for it. He hits it out of the park with many of his own carefully curated recipes on the restaurant's menu, but my absolute FAVORITE of his was a Lemon Pepper Calamari, a creation solely dreamed up by him I understand. It's totally delicious and a must try. I've been thinking about it ever since I had it. I look forward to seeing how the menu will change seasonally, because I can tell he cares deeply about his life's work. I'll be back. My husband and I were in the area and St. Moritz had a 4.6 rating on Google, so we went for lunch. Being a Tuesday afternoon the day after Christmas it was pretty quiet. The service was great, the food outstanding. I had "The Turkey" - -- sliced Turkey, Cole slaw, melted cheddar, and Russian dressing on the most delicious whole grain bread I've ever had (toasted). The fries were delicious too - hot, crispy and perfectly salted. My husband had a mushroom with Swiss on brioche bun. He thought it would be a burger, but was not. Yesterday 9/15/24 at 5pm I had a reservation to eat outside with my son and his new wife. I had eaten there several times before and the service was always above par. , however yesterday was very disappointing. The service felt hurried. Our waitress was inattentive. She argued with me when she brought me the wrong drink. She refused to return the drink until I threatened not to pay for it. I had to ask twice for extra salad dressing and extra cheese. Lake Mohawk is one of my favorite Jersey towns. It just has that old fashioned vibe sitting on a beautiful lake. I hadn't been to this restaurant's location since years ago when it was Arthur's. On this occasion, my wife and I were attending a birthday party in the back room. While I can't comment on the regular menu, I will say that the filet which I ordered was very good!
