I would not recommend Delano Veterinary Clinic based on our experiences here…read more Our dog, Tamago, has allergies, and my husband called on Monday to refill his allergy medication. Initially, he was told they would not refill it until Tamago came in for a checkup, even though his next checkup isn't due until September. Apparently they ultimately did fill the prescription, but no one contacted us to let us know it was ready. Once we figured that out today, I planned to stop after work to pick it up. Their website says they are open until 5:00 PM on Fridays. The sign on their door says they are open until 5:00 PM. I arrived at 4:45 PM and the doors were already locked. I tried calling from outside and the call went straight to a recording saying they were closed and to call back during regular business hours -- which the recording itself says are until 5:00 PM on Fridays. What makes this especially frustrating is that they aren't open on weekends. Because they closed early despite every posted source saying they were open until 5:00, Tamago now has to wait until Monday to get relief from his allergies. Had their actual hours been communicated accurately, we obviously would have made other arrangements to pick up his medication earlier. Unfortunately, this is just the latest frustration we've had with this clinic. During previous appointments, we've found the doctors to be rude and judgmental rather than helpful and compassionate. We've also heard similar complaints from others in the community, particularly regarding their pricing and the cost of even basic services. Veterinary care is already stressful enough when your pet is uncomfortable. At a minimum, I expect clear communication, accurate posted hours, and respectful treatment. Our experiences with Delano Veterinary Clinic have consistently fallen short of that, and after this experience we will be looking for veterinary care elsewhere.

I wasn't going to review, until I got a letter from them terminating our "client relationship"…read more Worth the read if you have chinchillas. I've brought my other chinchillas here a few years ago, and have had chinchillas for over a decade. I recently brought my third chin in because her food was dust like and she had some drool under her chin with watery eyes - so I thought her teeth might be too long or something else such as malo or stomach issues. They were able to take her as a drop off on short notice which was nice because my work schedule is tough to work around. I dropped her off at 11:15am and picked her up around 5:30pm on 1/11/24. They called around 2pm stating her teeth were fine, but possibly a stomach issue so they recommended a fecal, and we did that, later I got a call her gut ph was off and she will be ready with medicine soon. When I picked her up, they mentioned they were feeding her fresh lettuce and she was eating fine and kept referring to her as "him". I questioned why she was eating fresh veggies as in the past this same doctor recommended against it - they told me to trust Dr. Jina. I stated I would like to talk to her (as I was talking to a vet tech and receptionist), because I have questions and told them I don't plan to feed her fresh veggies going forward and that she's never had this type of food before. Instead of having the doctor come talk with me, like they said they would, they brought me a "brochure" as they called it (it's literally a typed word doc) on why chinchillas need fresh veggies - not even a professional brochure. They told me to trust her, and at that point I referenced the bad reviews about exotics passing away after going here and that it's hard to trust a doctor who wouldn't come out and talk to me & who previously recommended against this type of food and that I'm losing trust in her from this visit. I also mentioned that I was unhappy they fed my pet something without asking when I brought her with hay and sticks for her short stay. The receptionist and the vet tech then just stared at me for a couple minutes, waiting for me to leave - I had to REMIND THEM to bring me my pet, so I could leave. I used to recommend this place, but would not anymore, especially for exotics. it's pretty bad when you question the recommendations & bring up reviews that they then terminate the client relationship. Lastly - they didn't even pay attention when writing up her discharge paperwork, why on earth would she eat a Carnivore diet & what is Carnivore Care? Should be critical care. She also was eating, so idk why they kept referring to her as not eating / must syringe feed her.

The vet wanted to run 3 different tests for conjunctivitis, and I was able to talk her down to 2 tests. The vet tech told me a rabies vaccination had to be given to my indoor cat as it was a state law. I told her I didn't want my cat getting a vaccination and asked her if it really was a state law and she said yes. I looked it up when I got home and it isn't a state law. When I called back and asked about being told something that wasn't true, it was explained to me that it is a policy in Maple Grove for all pets to be up to date on their rabies vaccination so they enforce that policy no matter where the owner lives since their clinic is located in Maple Grove. She said someone should have told me that when I called to make the appointment - but no one did. They also prescribed an eye ointment/medication that the 3 closest pharmacies to me did not carry, but one of them could order for $260. It took about 2 hours for North Paws to adjust the prescription to the medication the pharmacist recommended and to call it into the pharmacy where I was waiting so I could pick up (I was waiting in the parking lot the whole time and unable to be home to ensure my cat wasn't having an adverse side effect to the unwanted rabies vaccine). If you decide to take your pet here, I would plan to attempt to determine what your pet actually needs versus what they are recommending - it feels like you have to be an advocate for your pet as it appears their focus is on profit, even if that means deceiving the owner.

A few weeks ago, my review would be 5 stars. Now, however,…read morethey have repeatedly reported they're under-staffed, and today upon picking up my dog from daycare, not only had she been allowed to chew up her harness, leash, and towel (which has never been an issue when staying for a full day of daycare previously), but also somehow she was able to chew through the plastic ziplock bag that contained her food (which was also still full of food, which again has never been an issue on previous days). Although I was told that dogs are not allowed near the bins where the bags of food are kept, I was told by a worker while picking up my dog that "it looks like she got to her food bag," which is made of zip-lock plastic, and now I'm concerned with how much she ingested. Overall, the Lucky Pets staff is aware they're understaffed, but continue to accept dogs into their care that they do not have the staff to properly/safely watch and take care of. Extremely disappointed after how great it was a few weeks ago.
