Went for a re-check after mastectomy and they asked me to take a "depression test". I've never heard of one before and she said "it's only 2 questions". Ok. She asked "how many days a week are you sad or depressed" me 7 then "how many days a week do you feel unmotivated to do anything" me 7. Then she said ok, the Dr. may have more questions, but there were none. I am left to wonder the reason for the questions. A bit silly one would think. It is very sad what has happened to health care the past 20 years. I think Providence can drop the whole "care" part from "heath care" there is clearly no care anymore. Very sad and pathetic. The one star is for the receptionist (wears a mask under her nose) and the woman( has incredibly long nails) who places your wristband and places you in the waiting room. I seriously don't get it! Why are people so moody? Why work with the public if you have a horrible attitude! Give someone else the opportunity to work in your position that has a better attitude. Especially in a department like this where women come in for tests that are not only important but also nerve wracking. As for the technician Sandra . She did an amazing job ! I'm really not sure why the low reviews. I stand firm with my review from 2014. The St. Jude Breast Center is a great place to go if you have to have the awkward and uncomfortable mammogram. All the staff is helpful, pleasant, and professional. During these Covid times, I felt very safe as well. Granted, I've still only needed to visit for my annual exam and I hope that is the only time I do. The ladies all have kind hearts and I have always felt like I was treated with kindness and care. This was my first visit to this Breast Center. I have had innumerable mammograms at other facilities over the years. St. Jude Breast Center is Clean, esthetically quite pleasing with each and every staff member friendly and kind. HOWEVER, this is the first time after decades of mammography, that I have had an agonizingly painful mammogram. I've never experienced pain anything this before and wonder if it was the fault of the technician of if there were some other factors. Because this was a comparatively unpleasant and painful experience, I may look for a different facility in the next go round.. read more

Terrible wait! Second time coming here and will not return to this center. I've been waiting 40 min in room to get routine Mamo. It's cold in here, 1/2 naked and waiting a long time for an appointment I made. They overbooked patients. I've come to St Jude for 20 yrs. Time to change. read more

First... would you please get more people to answer the phones for appointments. It is not uncommon to have to wait 10 minutes plus to schedule an appointment. I just hung up after waiting for 11 minutes and it is almost always like that. I've been going here for about 5 years and have had good service. I do think I've noticed a slip in service after Dr. Smith left. If I could I'd give 1 star for making appointments and 4 stars for service. read more

Making an appointment is the worst part of this place. I've needed to make 2 appointments in the last 2 weeks. Both times I was on hold for over 20 minutes. So about a 30 minute phone call. You can leave a message and get a call back but that can end up being phone tag. It's happened to me more than once where I have an appt & new person gets involved & im back at square 1. One in particular was very condescending telling me (yelling) I'm researching to make sure everything is done properly for you, I apologize for doing that for you. Really she was just being rude and justifying it. Once you get there everything is fine, everyone is very nice and you never have a long wait. read more

Since providence took over billing is a joke. I have an HMO, I've been getting mammograms for the past ten years, recently I was sent to collections because someone literally forgot to send my radiology bill to my insurance. I've spent weeks and weeks on the phone trying to find the source of this bill and no one can find it. I asked collections to send it to my insurance who now won't cover it because it's past 180 days. So because some idiot can't do their job correctly, I'm screwed? I'm dreading my next mammogram for this reason. Providence sucks and they need to get their issues together. read more

I made an appt for mamogram & ultrasound after my doctor found a lump in breast and the last mamogram was "inconclusive". It took me a week & a half to get an appt. I was told when I made the appt to bring the film from the last mamogram, my dr's prescription for the additional mamo and ultrasound and to show up 15 early. I did as they asked and was even there 20 min early. My appt time was at 2:30pm. I was called back to the other waiting room where they pull you in for the mamo. Women came in after me, were called into the rooms and they came out and left. At 2:50, I thought they forgot about me so I went back out to the front desk. She came back and asked the techs what the issue was. She came out and told me they are waiting for the film to down load. I said it was just 8 pictures & it downloaded to my home computer in just a couple of seconds (I wanted to make sure they were on the disc before I came). Then she said they were having problems with their computer. I waited another 5 min and they called me in. The tech was not mean, but not nice either - she actually acted like she was doing me the favor. She said I don't now what you need, did you bring the report from the last mamo. I told her that the scheduler only asked for the film, not the report. In a huff, she snapped at me that she would have to go talk to the radiologist. She was gone 7 min when I got on my cell phone standing in the room where she left me. I called the scheduling desk and asked if I could reschedule my appt and told her I was there in the room, but there were problems, and I needed to leave in 45 min for my husband's birthday surprise party. She sounded thoroughly disgusted with me so I told her that it was okay. I hung up and walked back out to the front desk. It was now 3:12 pm - 42 min after my appt time and over an hour after I first got there. Not only was I stressed at the thought of dealing with possible cancer in my breast, or going through the pain of another mamogram, but I had to deal with the incentive employees at St Jude's Breast Center. I was so shocked and upset I left in tears. read more

It was my 1st time at this location for my mammogram and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with my whole experience. It was clean, especially due to the covid situation. Amber went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and the front desk gal was also very nice. I would recommend them to a friend/family member. read more

They told me to come early for check in, but after I waited 25 minutes, they told me that my appointment was in fact two hours earlier. I told them that there was no way I would book an appointment in the middle of the afternoon, because obviously I would be at work. I expected them to say, we will try to squeeze you in. But instead what they told me was that they were already behind because two machines were down, and there was nothing that they could do except re-book me for another day. I'm very unhappy that I was inconvenienced because of their mistake, and that they didn't do anything to rectify it. read more

Very disappointed with the scheduling department. I asked to talk to a manager and I got transferred to someone who had no connection with this department. I had to wait 20 more minutes to talk again to someone. I have been with this clinic for 10 years and this is not an isolated incident, it seems to be the norm. The closest appointment they have for a mammogram is in 2 months. They invoke Covid closure for their delays, however, one can never get a sooner appointment. I have been coming to the center for several years. I am debating right now whether to call for an appointment. Nah, I will wait. I usually stop by the center and schedule a visit when I see another doctor in Fullerton. They are terrible at answering calls. Maybe if you get a hold of them first thing in the morning. I agree with other reviews. You can be stuck on the phone for over 20 minutes. Once I go there, all is well. But, they really need to improve the appointment scheduling. read more

Just finished with my mammogram appointment which I haven't had one in eight years and I got a little confused and I thought I was supposed to check in at 8 for an 8:30 appointment but apparently I was supposed to check in at 7:30 for an 8am appointment but when I arrived at 7:55 Cecilia was very professional polite and said you were supposed to arrive at 7:30 for 8 but we could definitely still take care of you in a very timely fashion as I told her I commute to Costa Mesa for my work and I definitely did not want to be late. Very clean,very nice & very professional staff. My mammo tech Julie was very calming and very sweet and professional and I definitely recommend St Jude Breast Center for your mammogram needs! I had a 3D Mammogram which is the newest technology around today. Thank you for taking such great care of me. I appreciate it very much! read more

I'm very young and went in with a prescription for a mammogram. Once I got there, they said that because of my age, they would be doing an ultrasound instead. That's fine. The older woman that helped me did nothing but insult me and my doctor throughout the whole thing. It took all of my self control not to yell at her. First she tells me that my problem is just hormonal and that I should go to an obgyn for this issue. Then she starts questioning the tests my doctor ran asking why she did this and why I don't have the results of some others memorized. I was nervous about this whole experience to begin with and I'm getting the third degree! The ultrasound starts and she's asking about what birth control I use. I told her I had been using the nuvaring for a couple years now and that it had really helped control my periods because I used to have them for weeks with extreme symptoms. My periods had stopped completely about a year prior which wasn't unusual for the nuvaring. She said, "Back in my day, we would take a pill and have our periods every four weeks." And went on and on about how our bodies need periods every couple weeks. I explained to her very defensively that I had been on multiple pills before nuvaring but none had been much help in controlling my periods without uncomfortable side effects. She then put me through the third degree about why I hadn't tried this kind of pill or why I was even going to my doctor. She noticed a scar on my left breast and asked who did the biopsy. When I told her my doctor had done it, she stopped the ultrasound altogether and looked at me saying, "Don't ever let her do that again! Is she a dermatologist? Is she a breast surgeon? No! So don't let her cut into you like that." Seriously, the scar was from a small biopsy on a little bump I had. It turned out benign and was most likely just a cyst. After all of this, I was pretty ticked. I was coming in for an issue I'd never had before and one that my mom had been concerned about when I told her and something my doctor had obviously referred me to this place to in order to figure it out!!! She found a couple small cysts and one large one and asked if I had felt the large one before. I said no and she replied with, "And that tells me you don't check yourself enough." Holy crap woman! Give me a break! I'm 24 and recently had a coworker diagnosed with breast cancer. When I suddenly had some VERY weird symptoms, I went to my doctor who referred me to a specialist. This woman was downright insulting and rude. I don't know if she just thought I was young and dumb but her attitude towards me and insults are intolerable for any medical practice. I hope I never have to see her again! read more

Not happy with the timeliness of asking for records. It is extremely difficult to get your records in a timely manner from St. Jude, even if your doctors call several times. My new doctors just received them on 6/18 after requesting them on 5/17. So, if you go to St. Jude- make sure you pick up your own copy of images and reports, in case you need them. read more

Smiling and cheerful people at the front desk, always a plus. One of them took me to the area to change my clothes and showed me the locker to put my belongings in. A very sweet and gentle woman named Laurie called my name within 3 minutes, asked me a few questions and the procedure began. Laurie was very kind and gentle which I greatly appreciated. It was over quickly and I was back in my clothes and on my way home. Highly recommend St. Jude Breast Center where everyone seems to genuinely care about your comfort. I cannot stress how poorly this Breast Center is managed. I highly recommend you go elsewhere. I have had mammograms at other places, so I have something to compare them to. These people never answer the phone or return calls. The office girls lie and say you don't have an appointment, or they can't find your paper work, or you've only got a work order for the mammogram but not the ultrasound, all of which can cause you to not receive time sensitive services or cause you to have to take more days off work. They do not send reminder notices and then say they did. This has happened to a friend of mine as well as to me, and I noticed other reviews commented on these sort of experiences, so I am thinking this is more of a mode of operation than a fluke. I feel for the reviewer who said she left in tears. I don't doubt that. Once, I was yelled at by the technician who was doing the ultrasound, because the office girls sent me back later than my scheduled appointment time, and she wanted to take a break. I had been on time. The office girls made me wait in the lobby. I can't go back until I am called. How is this my fault? Lady, you might be pissed that you have to wait for your break, but you are at work and I am a patient who is terrified about possibly having breast cancer. Get some perspective and some sensitivity and don't direct your beef with the office staff at me. I am getting services somewhere else now. I called Julia, the records person, twice to give her advance notice that I would be coming to get my records/film. No call back. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF. read more
