I've been to both this location in downtown St Augustine and the new location in Ponte Vedra Beach. Both are highly efficient with machines vending tickets once you enter. The downtown office is more crowded, but the wait is quite tolerable. The people that have helped me in the past were friendly and efficient. I'm sure it beats anything offered by Duval County:/
The Ponte Vedra branch runs on a similar system, with the addition of a series of faces at each station, running from mad to happy, which the agent prompts you to push, depending on the wait time you experienced. As there were only three others besides me in that part of the building, I must have waited about 7 minutes before my number was called. The agent, a woman, looked pretty surly as I approached and greeted her. She was all business. Didn't look up or attempt small talk. As I noticed the faces on the wall, I was hoping these would pertain to the service I was receiving. Not a chance. At the end of my transaction, she asked me to press a button. Good thing this was pertaining to wait time only. Every other time I've had contact with county personnel, it's been pleasant. Therefore the four stars. Hope it was just an off day for her. read more
