The Best donuts I have consistently ever had. Service is fine but I go there for the donuts. Cheaper than all the other donuts shops but have better donuts than hurts, Rays, donut time. I think it's 7.99 for a dozen, or like 80cents a donut with a hole. read more

I used to stop in this shop at least twice or three times a week. I won't any longer. The last time I stopped in, I got two glazed doughnuts. Simple, right? I've always loved their glazed doughnuts. I paused at first because the doughnuts were shaped differently. But, I started eating anyway. The flavor was completely different than what it used to be. I couldn't finish them. Then it hit me where I had tasted that before. The grocery stores! So the owner of that store had gone to Dillon's or Price Cutter or someplace, bought a lot of glazed doughnuts, and put them into his case to sell! That same morning, one of the ladies I work with also stopped in for a couple. Her's as well was horrible. Her thought was that they were day old (or two days old). She couldn't finish her's either. I once commented to the owner how much I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. His response back to me was (and I quote); "Well then I won't tell you what I put in it." I wouldn't order biscuits and gravy there again. Ever. On a side note, I asked the owner once last summer (since they also have a lawn service) if he would come mow my lawn bi-weekly. My landlord has a service that only comes every other week. He said no, because (and I quote); "Some guys don't like others to mess with lawns they mow. So he didn't even want my money for that! It's sad what's happened to this shop. They used to be so fresh and so good. Now, they sometimes go to the grocery store and put doughnuts from there into their case to sell. Pass them by, folks. So I am sure that this will get deleted because he doesn't want his customers knowing. I just thought I would let everybody know that after telling me that they could donate and they would let me know on the amount the day before benefit the owner tells me no we can't donate. sorry I didn't tell you a definite yes..I mean it's one thing to tell somebody know but it makes me think that you're going to help and you wait before the day before the benefit and tell them no low down and disgusting. This was to help a family whose son was hit by a semi walking on June 5 all we asked for was a box of donuts apparently that's worth more than customers and being kind and not lying to people. I've been going to St. George's Donuts for as long as I can remember. AMAZING donuts (especially the sour cream donut!) for a great price. I would not recommend if you're looking for frills or atmosphere. However, if you're just looking for a great donut, this is the place for you!! read more

I bought donuts here for our office every Friday for at least 3 years. Lately, the selection has been pretty inconsistent. I started getting muffins and bagels as well to get more variety. Last Friday, the Vice President of my company opened a bagel to eat and it was green and moldy all over the top and middle of the bagel. I drove back to the place, as its right down the street and showed it to them. They recognized me when I walked in and I showed them the mold. Some guy behind the counter actually tried to convince me it wasn't mold, it was just 'green dust', yes, he actually said that! It was clearly mold! OK then, so even if it is 'green dust' why is there 'green dust' on my bagel!? They gave me .75 back for the bagel. 3 years of patronage, and I get hassled and get .75 I am looking around for other donut shops to patronize weekly now. The donuts here are ok, nothing too spectacular, but I'd be careful about the bagels, they are NOT made daily. read more

I was in Springfield for softball state finals and found this shop on Yelp then decided to try it this morning. When I arrived about 10:30 the line was out the door, but it was so worth the short wait. The staff was speedy and friendly. The glazed doughnuts-my all time favorite sweet-were the best I've ever tasted! Fabulous! DO NOT GO!!!! Last weekend,my family and i went to get donuts. I got a coconut donut and ate it at around 10:30AM. At 1PM, I became so ill that I couldn't walk because I got too lightheaded and dizzy. I later threw up and have still not completely gotten over the nauseating affects. Another member of my family who ate a donut also became very sick that day. I've had the pleasure of stopping in here a couple of times now and I'd like to assure anyone who's thinking about it that the reviews greatly exaggerate the surliness of the ladies working here--I've never had a poor experience with them, including my first time in when I had to ask what nearly everything in the case was before buying half of it! They can be a little brisk, yes, but I find that it's easier for us all if I stand back from the counter while I make my decisions or, better yet, come in with something in mind--not hard to do when I'm as addicted to their pistachio muffins as I am! The only complaint I can think of is the early hours (there've been times I meant to get over there only to glance at the clock and realize they're closing before I'll be able to make it) and the hugeness of the donuts/pastries, though I doubt that last one's an issue for anyone but me! read more

I stopped by on Saturday morning to try out the newest donut shop around. I found out why it is named Hurts Donuts - cause it HURTS when you have to pay the ridiculous price they want for their donuts a whopping $6.34 for a bacon/carmel longjohn and a fritter (yes just 2 donuts). Crazy Crazy and the amazing part is the donuts weren't special by any means and for that price you'd expect them to be something special. Won't be going back for another robbing - I'll stick with the other options here in towns. St. George's don't worry as this Hurts place really isn't competition for the true donut eaters here in town as one trip to their shop just proved to me why your shop has been around all these years because YOU know how to make a customer happy and not rob us while doing so. Was by your shop this am to get our usual cherry and apple sticks, fritter, long john and donut holes... and as usual was happy again with the product and cost. Keep it up, but please considered opening another store back over on the side of town your original shop was located... we miss you being in our neighborhood, oh and we have to pass by the other shop mentioned earlier to get to you on National... but will drive over to your store simply because your donuts are worth the trip - we buy the donut holes just so that we have "samples" to enjoy in the car on the way home. read more

My family gets to visit Springfield/Nixa Missouri once a year for vacation. We come from the Albuquerque area and always visit St. George's Donuts multiple time in 2 weeks. My favorite item is the Strusel Donut. My whole family finds these to be delectable! A nice, messy donut. Melts in your mouth. I cannot ignore another special treat: their Apple Fritters are the best I have tasted. I believe that they have much more apple in them than your average apple fritter. I have been going to St. George's Donuts for over 20 years. I have always been very happy with the product and the service. Today, however, was another story. The lady got my order completely wrong and I was overcharged. I simply called up and asked to speak with a manager. The manager asked me who had helped me and handed the phone off to her. Her solution was for me to come back in and they would fix the order. I told her I could not do that because I was already at work. No mention of refunding my money for the "extreme" overcharge. I must say, I was very disappointed in how the whole situation was handled. This has nothing to do with their product (delicious), but more to do with the lack of customer service or even caring that they got my order wrong and overcharged me. I will point out that, I questioned the lady about the price while I was in the store and was brushed off because they were busy. read more

They are good for cake donuts. They are not too sweet either. They are not dry and made fresh. I have ate them after I had them in the box for a day, and they were still good. They dunk well in coffee. I haven't had one I didn't like, but I haven't had one that amazed me either.
