We ordered a 12 pack of doughnut and were able to pick 4 flavors. The s'mores ones were amazing! We also really liked the puppy chow. While ordering, one niece picked out Bart's birthday cake and I said something to her like oh you picked those because we are celebrating your birthday. I didn't think much of it but after our doughnuts were delivered, staff asked her if she wanted powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar doughnuts to go for her birthday. She loved getting to leave with an extra treat. We had fun playing pinball while we waited and one of my nieces commented on how she really liked the vibe of the place. They both said the mini doughnut place was a highlight of their weekend with me.

The selection of donuts looked delicious so I placed an order for a six-pack of donuts. Got to pick out three different flavors. Wait time was a ridiculous but i gave them a break due to the high traffic from the event going on outside. When I finally got my order I had to laugh. These donuts were the size of donut holes. One bite donuts? No exaggeration, I paid a premium price for full size donuts and I all I got were bite size dough balls. I was mad as a Danzig at a Bulletboys concert. Don't waste your time with this place. Happy Dough Lucky is just happy to take your dough. No luck involved.

I never had a chance to try the macarons, and honestly only found this one because the place that I normally get cinnamon rolls from when I went to treat myself was closed for a holiday break, so I decided to use yelp and branch out and find something new. I was not disappointed! I also tried a ham and cheese, croissant, which was delicious, but I will definitely be back for the cinnamon rolls. They also sell day old cinnamon rolls at a discounted rate, and I am eager to try those as well, because I love the idea of food not going to waste, saving money, and I heat up my cinnamon rolls anyway so I bet it would still be delicious! If not, I am happy to pay full price for the fresh kind, especially knowing that the bakery helps support community members with food insecurity (see photo). They have a sourdough membership, and even though I make my own sourdough (with mixed results), I believe I will try this just so that I can experience all the different varieties they create. I think it will be fun to have something like this to look forward to a couple times a month.

So we came here one Sunday and got a pound of ham, cheddar cheese and onion rolls. We also had one chocolate croissant and a sprinkled donut for some sweetness in our lives. When we got home she put together these sacred traditions like it was Christmas morning and I had to patiently wait to be told to dig in. Well, not only did I dig in but the ROLLS--they were so crunchy on the outside with the perfect amount of onion and soft/chewy on inside. It went so well with the ham and cheddar that I literally drooled after my first bite for a second. I only use one piece of cheese for two slices of ham, I found that while I might be marrying a Cheese Head, I am slowly becoming one and two was too many. I was also told that it was a cardinal sin to put my BBQ kettle chips in my roll for extra crunch and favor. It didn't need it but I thought why not put everything on my plate together. I'd go back just for the ham rolls on Sunday--if my fiancée would let me lol. The pastries though? The croissant was almost spot on to the ones we had in Paris. I could only tell a slight difference in the layers and butter but it isn't important. This is a gem of a place and while it takes a minute to order and go--it's TOTALLY WORTH IT!

I understand but some of these seems like price gouging. There are high quality ingredients here but expect to pay. My only big issue is if I'm running out to get one or two last ingredients there are multiple times they have run out of what I need and these are simply staple ingredients. Buying natural and organic is possible at conventional grocery stores and box chains, but I often find out of date products and a limited selection. That is not the case at Outpost. The products are handpicked and there are real relationships between Outpost and many of the vendors. There is nowhere to get a better selection of local products. So many are from Midwest or Wisconsin vendors, which means direct support for regional and Wisconsin businesses - plus Outpost itself is a Milwaukee business. Finding truly natural and organic prepared foods is not easy, but Outpost has a huge selection of deli salads, cut fruit, veg, cheese, sandwiches, soups, and cooked dinners - all made with mostly organic ingredients. I'm not sure where else in Milwaukee you can find a salad bar, a hot bar, and a juice bar with mostly organic ingredients. I will always recommend Outpost to family and friends.

For the cost of the class, I would have thought I would have got a bit more. The other thing that disappointed me was the glasses are open to all ages of children. In my class, I was there with a middle school boy who somewhat took ownership of the class and wasn't behaving very appropriate for what I thought was an adult-only class. This was an event I purchased as an adult-friendly evening, I do wish this was stated when signing up for classes or at least offer adult-only or all ages classes. It just wasn't the vibe I was going for that evening and frankly was pretty annoying. Although, the owner did try to play down the boy's presence and kindly answer his questions, etc - I probably wouldn't take another class there unfortunately. I do enjoy the shop and the pasta is tasty.

Petra and Andy take such pride in their shop and it shows! We started wandering (and salivating over) their small but impressive selection of sauces, oils, salts, and Italian goodies. They have samples of most of their items, so definitely ask when you're in! The class started with Petra giving a brief overview of the general recipe and then we got our hands dirty almost immediately kneading the dough. The dough got to rest for a bit while we got to sip on some beautiful red wine and Petra taught us how to make a puttanesca sauce. When we went back to knead some more, Andy had magically cleaned the stations and set us up for the next round! On our next rest break, Petra finished assembling the puttanesca with some pasta she made earlier that day and we got a healthy serving of fresh pasta and puttanesca, followed by a sample of some of the most amazing Panettone I have ever had. The care that Petra and Andy put into their work is evident, and their commitment to supporting organic, high quality foods is remarkable. Looking forward to many more classes here!

I had a flashback to my childhood, walking home from elementary school and stopping at the small store on the corner to buy penny candies and other goodies like banana flavored Now & Laters or candy cigarettes. I had to go into that store. Luke R. and Rachel F. were walking by. I pointed out the penny candy sign, and the four of us went in to explore. We found video boxes on display, shelves of candy galore and a fridge with sodas, not a commercial fridge but one like we'd have in our homes. I felt like I went back in time. I think we all did because we giggled and bounced around the store like we were kids! Did I buy any candy? You're damn right I did, and I'd go back and do it again!
