Our yearly family favorite for apple, gourd, and pumpkin picking! The Honeycrisp apples were extra delicious this year. Our favorite tradition? Finding the weirdest-looking gourd to take home--it's always a laugh! If you don't want to pick, all the favorites are available in the shop. Plus, they've added a beer garden, perfect for relaxing after a fun day outdoors. Highly recommend for a family outing

We had such a nice time picking apples and pears! Barthel is a great local option for fruit, gourd, and pumpkin picking and has plenty of extras, like apple treats, pre-picked apples, brats & other savory foods, a beer garden, and corn maze. When we were there, they had an Oktoberfest happening which was fun. The apple varieties were nice and they had about a half dozen kinds when we went the third weekend of September. The pears were a fun bonus - delicious, and pretty unique to be able to pick your own! For a peck sized bag, it was about $19, and a 1/2 bushel was $29. We got the peck and it was plenty for us. You pay on your way out which was a little confusing - you pay as you drive out. All in all we had a good experience and would return!

I wait all year for the fall tradition of getting an Apple cider donut at Barthel's! I love the option to pick your own apples, or snag pre-picked apples from the shop. This year I also picked up pears, applesauce, and naturally some Apple butter. It's always so relaxing to walk through the Apple trees and drink Apple cider after the corn maze. If you haven't stopped by Barthel's for family fun, or to enjoy the beer garden, you should!

A couple treats I scored at the store!

Date of visit: September 9, 2023 I'm not a big apple fan so I am generally unlikely to be found apple picking, but a friend's company was hosting an event and they graciously invited us along and it was very enjoyable. While the place seems quite large, there were only a few areas for picking at the time with just a couple of varieties of apple: zestar (never heard of them!) and McIntosh. We were able to fill a bag and there were also plums to choose from. In addition to the picking, there is a "bakery" that offers a variety of sweet treats and drinks. The apple cider is fantastic, but then again, I've always been a sucker for that stuff. I also tried a pumpkin cookie and while it was pretty good, it was very small for 75 cents. 2 for $1 would have been a better value and more fitting for what you get. The store area has a fair amount of items beyond apples; I scored some pumpkin butter (how fabulous does that sound?) and apple salsa that should be a big hit when fall rolls around soon. Staff are pretty friendly, and they discourage credit cards with a 3% cash discount; I appreciated that more than jacking up the price for paying with a card. Overall, a very nice place though parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially if there's been recent rain--the whole joint would become a mud bog!

Walked away with 27 pounds of apples! Apples were delicious and they have so many varieties. The parking can get crowded and hard to drive with some many people and cars. Overall a great place for apple picking and very family friendly.

This is a great spot for your fall activities! Lots of great options for different types of apples, too! When we were there, they also had pears available for pick up. We enjoyed their apple cider donuts and the girls loved the apple cider slushies! Very sweet spot and reasonable prices. Definitely worth a stop!

Love this cute spot (and the pumpkin cheesecake!!) There was no fee to enter like some places, but had everything you could need to get your fall favorites! Plus, they had a beer garden which is always a plus for Mom & Dad!

So much fun!! Went Apple picking with a friend on an unseasonably warm Friday afternoon. The orchard was beautiful and we were able to pick plenty of spotless apples! We didn't realize how many areas there were to pick, and filled up our bag a little too quickly. After picking we enjoyed a couple apple cider donuts and ciders from the little beer garden. Can't wait to visit again next season!!

Our family has been going here for years for apple picking and pumpkin picking in the fall. This year, my 6-year-old son and I went for strawberry picking in early July. With COVID canceling most other outdoor activities, the fields were busy and full with families. But there was still plenty of space to spread out and stay safe. We picked 11 pounds and the strawberries were perfectly ripe and delicious. They just announced that their strawberries are now closed for the season, just 7 days after opening (it's normally about three weeks). We're glad we got in when we did and look forward to returning next season.

I have been coming here for years and this year I was very disappointed. I checked online to find out what they were picking. I drove 40 minutes and upon arrival was told they were not picking gourds, which what I drove for. I showed the girl at the entrance the website and her response was just that someone else that am had said the same thing and apparently it couldn't have been fixed by 4pm? I also was interested in honeycrisp. The girl couldn't tell me how much longer they'd be picking them. There's NO way I could have filled a small bag of pick your own. There were NO honey crisps on the tree. The one variety they did have was the size of plums.

    Apples everywhere!

When we stopped through I was initially thinking that I would get a shake from Purple Door because they have great flavors and I love the original in Walker's Point. Would like to try some of the sit down restaurants since the only one I had ever stopped at was Pizza Man, which has long since vacated the Mequon Public Market. Yet when we got to Lakeside Cookie Company, we were just so impressed by the staff and their enthusiasm for the product that we went with the cookies instead. I will say that the cookie--while soft--was a bit underwhelming for me, I am sure that there are other flavors that I might like better than the Oatmeal Scotchie.

I personally made a special trip out this year just to get cider and Macintosh apples. One of the downsides to the apple stand is that they only accept cash or personal check.
