Amazing hole in the wall. Super friendly environment with a community centric core. Came on a Monday night and got to listen to local bands and chat with the locals and the bartender. Ended up staying til close and would do it again in a heartbeat on my next visit. Andrea was our phenomenal bartender. read more

St Elmo Bar - "Andrea was the best!" - Rex - Bars Near Me - Bisbee, Arizona

This bar is a favorite among locals. It's old, dingy, and smells of musk when you walk in. White paint is peeling off the ceiling. Photos of this place posted 15 years ago still show the real place. But in the many times I have been here over the years, I never got bad service. I stopped in tonight briefly after a short hike in the hills with my dogs. The place was busy for a Saturday evening and my dog was getting stressed. I let her rest in the car parked up front while I went inside for one beer. All tap beers are $6. Two weeks ago when I stopped by, all taps were $5 but maybe that is the local rate. Tonight the bartender told me there was a $15 minimum on a credit card or a $1 additional closing fee for less than $15. I opted to close out. That made my pint of Cali Squeeze $7! But when the bartender came back with my bill, she charged me the local rate of $5 without a closing fee. Odd Two of the tap beers are made right there in Bisbee, across the parking lot at the Old Bisbee Brewing Company. A pint of the Copper City ale or Pilsner is $6 at St Elmo's but $7 at the actual place that brews the beer! A band had just stopped playing for the night in the stage next door. People were playing pool and hitting the boxing glove. The place was loud. Next time I stop in, it will be during the week in the late afternoon when it's much quieter. This place is off-limits to active-duty military (for alleged drug use among clientele) but I've never seen it, unless that includes the old guys who stand outside and smoke weed. I don't partake in that stuff. The business also helps locals on holiday. I've come by in years past when the locals would host potluck turkey meals for the regulars. This place also hosted a lovely Barks and Brews before the covid pandemic hit in 2019. It's a place worth stopping by in at least once. My biggest complaint is the musky smell when you walk on. It's quite strong. read more

A wild time. A rowdy bar filled with music, pool, a boxing game, and fun people. The bartenders were on top of everything despite the crowd, and we got our drinks fast (and cheap too). This was our favorite bar to visit while in Bisbee and a highlight of the trip for sure. read more

Great fun old-fashioned bar reminds me of Paul and Jerry's in Jerome Arizona that by the way, also claims to be the oldest bar in Arizona so it's kind of funny that these are conflicting bars and they were created and Bisbee's sister City... drone, and Bisbee made by the same company the same time in history... it's a wonderful old-fashioned bar and they have a pretty good size music room for performers there which is really nice and they've always been pretty darn generous with their drink drinks... you definitely need to go there and check it out read more

Ok, it's been 5 years since going, but hard to forget the place. Wife and I stopped in one afternoon and orderd a couple of drinks. Started talking to the guy in the photo who asked, out of the blue, who do you think I looked like. I said who, then he said everyone knows me as Willy [Nelson]. I replied maybe an old Willie at which time the guy behind him laughed. I got him and me a shot and a friend was made. read more

St. Elmo survived Prohibition by selling into a soda shop and also if you know the regularly patronized by celebrities such as John Wayne and Charlie Sheen in Bisbee. This Dive bar could be one of the oldest bars in Arizona since 1902. I've been a couple times and they never let me down. This is the dive bar and you can mingle with the locals. Though, I've met so many Europeans such as young German, French couples chilling at this place. You can mingle with Hitching post Saloon peeps here too. ( Hitching post saloon is another dive bar in Bisbee ) Once, I ran into Pool Tournament at this place. Dog friendly, by means that no one gives a shit if you bring your dogs inside the bar. Arizona courts have held that the constitutional right to "bear arms" is qualified and subject to reasonable regulation by the state, so don't be surprised if you see open carry in town or near the pub. Why do we love the dive bar? Because no perverts ( regardless of male or female creepers ) who are looking a casual sex just for fun to "USE" you. We all know this is a community space, you're safe and sound. Recently recognized as the historic dive bar by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Still Tourists not heavy town. Even I do not like Tucson, AZ, I d like to come back Bisbee in this winter 2024. I ll wrap up with a great lyric; " Last call for drinks, I'll have another stout Well, I turn around to look at you, you're nowhere to be found. I search the place for your lost face, guess I'll have another round" - Tom Waits read more

I don't see the attraction. Yes it's old, service was extremely slow and pricy. Need of a big refresh and a Hugh cleaning with a big dusting! Darcy who is the bartender/manager was amazing. Anthony, who was fun as well but Darcy made this place operate . She is my favorite person in this small town. NOT sure if I'd brag about this place. read more

Why is this place even popular? The bartender was one of those who only serves the locals to the left and right of me. There is nothing to see there and the layout is weird, but my group would have spent some money on drinks if we had not been ignored. I'd rather drink in my hotel room than here. read more

Went there last Saturday to have a drink. Was greeted by a male bartender who was strung out on heroin. He was almost nodding off while messing up orders and doing only one at a time. Man Bisbee, what happened to you? read more

Took some friends from California to what used to be our favorite bar this weekend. Fallon was great but that broad Amy was a nightmare. Rude and unpleasant. And not attractive in the slightest. Totally turned me off to that place. Before COVID Fallon's sidekick was this cute little red-head and we always had the best time. Used to go every other weekend and now it's like three times a year. Amy's hurting that business for sure. read more

Whether you partake in drinking adult beverages or not, no trip to Bisbee is complete with stopping at Elmo's! The staff is friendly and great at their jobs-don't expect them to take any crap because they won't! The beer is cold and the bands are great! This is a filthy, dirty bar with poor service. We had such high expectations, but that was our fault...but, it's a dive bar for sure.

Had a couple of fantastic, memorable nights with the locals while I was in town. First time in a long time, that I've felt safe while traveling alone and coming into a bar to let loose. Will see y'all again soon. read more

Friendly bar tender, local vibe, reasonable prices. No food. Carries local beer. Stop in for a drink.

The best Bloody Mary I've ever had, Gabe was awesome. They have ample seating, pool table and jukebox with a big selection of good music.

Love Bisbee, love St Elmo's! Wish I could go back. I hope it hasn't changed. I remember the lady that has a reserved seat on the corner of the bar. read more

Really the central point for activity in the gulch. Live music and heavy pours. Gets a little sporty the later the evening gets.

St. Elmo Bar is kind of a must in Bisbee. It's been around since 1902 and is apparently the longest continuously running bar in America. AND in Bisbee fashion, it's also rumored to be haunted. Go there for cheap drinks, live music, an eclectic crowd, the jukebox, or try your luck playing the claw machine packed with stuffed animals and sex toys. It's definitely divey, but that's the characteristic of most of the bars in Bisbee. Not in the mood to stick around for a late night? You can buy beer/liquor to go. St. Elmo wants to make sure your booze needs covered. read more

Great local bar! It does look rough but that's what makes this bar fun. The inside is hilarious with the bumper stickers everywhere and signs. Bar tender was fun to talk with and must try a shot of the local Agua shot. Just ask, they know what it is. Had a DJ later that night when we went back and had a great time at this bar. Highly recommend over all others as we did hit up others that night read more

St Elmo Bar - Front of the bar - Bars Near Me - Bisbee, Arizona

St. Elmos is such an AMAZING gem. You just don't get places like this anymore and just like almost every place in Bisbee, it is crazy dog friendly. I've lived in Phoenix for about 17 years and had only briefly passed through once, and didn't really stop to see anything. Years passed and I kind of forgot about it, during that time we always went up north to Flagstaff, Prescott, Pinetop, or Greer areas. One day I opened the New Times and there was an article on Bisbee and knew that we had to go. I quickly booked an AirBnB for the weekend and we are off to spend a weekend there with our dogs. Best. Decision. Ever It was a chill weekend around town so the locals came out of hiding to enjoy the weather. I've never fallen in love with a group of people so fast in my life. Every one had a great story to tell, and I felt safe- even during the middle of the night, walking through town, drunk AF. I've been back several times since then, and will always think that Bisbee and their establishments are the best in the state, and best in the USA for dog moms. read more

Favorite bar in town! Incredibly comfortable, cheap drinks, friendly people, (staff and guests) good music, either live or from the jukebox, and pool. It has everything. I met my other half at this bar a few years back, and we visit it often for the wonderful atmosphere. Darcy is amazing, great personality, funny, personable. Truly, she's a gem. Ask her to make you a "Mexican coffee" or a "cucumber on your face" drink or shot version. I would like to add that I am an avid Bloody Mary drinker, and though I will drink almost any Bloody Mary in front of me, the one that Jackie made for me tonight was EASILY one of the best I've ever had! Unless this place burns down, I will never stop visiting it. read more

Fun and friendly! The bartender was so nice. The beer selection is great! The Copper City Ale was fantastic!

We came here because it was loud and looked crowded. Little did we know they had one of the best bartenders ever. The drinks were amazingly, superbly strong, when we mentioned it, the bartender, Fallon, called me a pussy, deservedly so. Yet we've drank at many gay bars so maybe not so much. A strong pour... The bar has incredible detail and a great sense of humor and history. Great boisterous crowds. And Fallon is an awesome, no bullshit, excellent bartender who happens to be incredibly beautiful. This place is a must visit Arizona bar. read more

Love Elmo! Only complaint was the Bartender.... but it was her first night. She didn't know if they had an energy drink...thank god for the local who knew that she had it on the fountain. Kilowatt to be exact. My husband order a chilled shot and we had to teacher her how to make it. Then he order his favorite drink Killowatt with Crown and she made a crown and coke. We went on to order several more drinks and I never got my Angry Orchard Beer, to case my fireball shot but o' well I didn't need that beer after all. I could understand on a busy night but it was just 4 of us in the bar. Got a kick out of the adult machine, 1st off don't let your kids play this machine and second, why are your kids in a bar in the first place? There is a pool table, but like pool hall cue expect a better shot with a broom handle. read more
