We watched for awhile and then made our way to the elevator for the tunnel and viewing station. We went 180 feet down & it felt like 60° inside the tunnel, which is 1/2 mile long. It was freezing!! Upstairs it was in the high 80s. We took photos of the tunnel going in because it was so different. We loved looking at the multi colored lights on the falls which looked like the aurora borealis. On our walk through the tunnel going out I enjoyed the lights again. More photos! We did not take ponchos off. It was cold! They kept us warm. I took photo of rainbow in the tunnel. Got in the elevator to go up, and when we arrived upstairs it was warm!!! Ponchos off! Before leaving we went to the gift shop to purchase souvenirs. Best purchase? Tee shirt with BEST. DAY. EVER. on it. Because it was!

The Niagara Parks Power Station is truly the best way to view up close and personal this natural…read morelandmark without actually heading onto one of those tour boats. On the top floor, you're presented with exhibits highlighting how energy is used to power the area and how the falls contribute to that flow of electricity. There were some fun moments of learning that I'd say were suited for kids 10 years and up. The real gem is the underground walking path that takes you right to the falls for a truly unique feel. We spent a good amount of time taking in the sites and seeing how massive the falls were compared to our small bodies. Be prepared for a little bit of moisture and splash back from the waves. While admission may seem steep at first at $35, it really was worth it to get such a wonderful view of the falls. I'd highly recommend this to anyone visiting Niagara Falls and wanting to commit to one of the major attractions for great views.

Washroom are large and the water bottle dispensers are an underrated resource. Prices for food and drink are very high, and be prepared for the high volume of people is you are visiting on a weekend. He was next to the building, past a fenced area, calling to other peregrines. We looked around and left. The next day we returned to look around more, and we saw a group of fishermen disappear inside. Intriguing! We followed them in. Inside was an elevator - with directions - that took us down to a shoreline. The fishermen who rode down with us told us they would walk along it to find a spot to fish. But they weren't going to keep the fish. Said they weren't good for eating. They would release whatever they caught. We saw along the wall of the base of the power plant huge panels of information about it. We also saw part of the American Falls when we walked down to the water. When we went back up, we saw a plaque in front of the building, praising those whose efforts led to hydro-electric power. Glad we stopped both days.

Parking is not a concern since the power plant site is adjacent to the Niagara Gorge Discovery Centre/Niagara Gorge Trailhead Building and the parking lot for it. Entering the stone structure, there's a big lift ahead, which will take you right down to the ground level where you're free to explore whatever is left of the once-active power station. Walk a little further down and you'll also get a wide angle view of the Rainbow Bridge and, of course, the grand Niagara River. There are brochures, maps, coupons, and guidebooks for nearby attractions and businesses once you're back up on the upper ground level where you took the lift, and the booklet with black and white pictures about the history of the site and the disaster in 1956 is another treat.

They have many lanes of 'kiss and ride' too so you can pull right up to the buildings. There are boards that display the train schedule in convenient locations and lots of Presto machines. The first one I walked up to was stuck on "turning on" so I had to use a different one. Make sure the machine that you tap on at is working so your fare gets processed. The actual platform is comfortable as there were lots of shelters and a lot of it was covered to protect you from the elements. A good transit stop all around.

I've been commuting to work in Toronto from the Appleby GO Station for over eight years now…read more For the past two years GO customers using this station have had to put up with lots of construction going on but happily most of the renovations are now complete. My major complaints have been that there was woefully inadequate shelter on the platforms, and there weren't enough stairs and only one tunnel so it was way too crowded when disembarking from a busy train. Thankfully both of these problems have largely been addressed by the addition of a second tunnel to the east of the original one, and greatly expanded shelters on the south platform. Parking is becoming a big problem here as over the years the usage has increased to the point where on weekdays you may not be able to find a spot (oddly Tuesdays seem to be the busiest). GO is in the process of building another parking lot on the north side (off of Harvester) but the construction notices at the station indicate that it won't be ready until December 2011. The concession stand has moved out of the ticket office area (at ground level) down to the south end of the western tunnel. The coffee's actually pretty good and they also sell muffins and bagels in case you ran out the door without eating your breakfast. Some tips when using this station: - If you plan to park at the station after 9am on a weekday, head to the south parking lot (off of Fairview) because the north lot (off of Harvester) is probably full. - If you don't already have tickets, try to be at the station well in advance of the departure time because the ticket line can be long - Pay close attention to the electronic displays in the ticket area and tunnels because trains can unexpectedly switch to a different track. - Remember which lot (north or south) you park in! On several occasions I've been approached by somebody who couldn't find their vehicle and assumed it had been stolen because they didn't know there were actually two parking lots. I always like to see the look of relief on their faces when I tell them about the other parking lot. ;-)

It was beautiful, and I was so in shock how nicely maintained this place is! If you are planning to go to a bunch of attractions, I cannot recommend having the Plus pass. Long lines everywhere, even before you get down there. Crowded elevators. Staff doesn't care if you're packed in like sardines. Also minus one star for forcing everyone to take a picture, printing them out, and just throwing them away unless you pay them money. At that point at least give out the examples. Ultimately, I think if you do one of the boat tours, you get a closer view of the falls, and this attraction isn't really needed.

My first time in a helicopter, and I didn't realize how much they tip. The pilot doesn't say anything, its all just a pre-recorded speech that you can barely hear over the propeller.
