What an amazing adventure and this is a must when coming to Niagara Falls. Best look at the Falls if you are not going on any tours but there is stairs and walking so be ready to do some exercise. It is definitely breathtaking and amazing
Oh my goodness, I don't know why this is not highly rated on yelp - this is probably one of my favorite parts of Niagara Falls. It was beautiful, and I was so in shock how nicely maintained this place is! If you are planning to go to a bunch of attractions, I cannot recommend having the Plus pass. Because not only you get to have most of the attractions, transportation is also included. So yes, please do not skip this! It is worth it to go.
It was rather short and you saw very little. They do supply yellow rain protection for all the water off of the falls.
Don't pay for it! You will wait for 40 min in a very hot room underground to spend maybe 10 min next to the falls! You CANNOT walk behind the falls!!!!!! Don't fall for the scam. $30 per ticket.
Felt a bit claustrophobic taking the elevator down to the Falls and walking along the narrow, low ceiling, dimly lit "hallways to actually get behind the Falls - via an observation deck. What a wonderful, mind-blowing experience!
One word for this NEAT-O!! What a great perspective of the Falls that I had never experienced before. Love that we could see and FEEL the Falls! Staff was amazing and efficient getting people through the line. We were lucky to go during the World Cup so they were saying it was less crowded than usual since most people were watching the games. Loved the souvenir ponchos too. They will come in handy where we live! The sound alone is worth the price of admission!
Does not take long. Walk to platform is very short, a little bit longer to get to the two portals. In February both portals only showed solid ice. The lower platform was closed. The higher platform was so close to the waterfall!! The employee said he didn't think the ice at the portal views would thaw out til April. Tip- don't buy anything from the private tours, buy directly from Niagara parks and you will save with the Wonder pass. February 2026- Adult ticket for Behind the Falls is $28, wonder pass is $65 and includes power plant $33 and Take Flight $33 and two days of unlimited railway, plus others. So unless you are doing only one activity, get the Wonder pass.
Located in Table Rock, this was my first major stop among my Niagara Falls travels, and it was an absolute blast. The crowd was light when I got there (around 5 pm on a Sunday), so I didn't have to wait long going down or up, or to get views. Anyway, it's a great time. You don't really get that wet, just misted on, and if you go during the daytime, you should dry right off in a few minutes in the sun. Self guided was you go at your own pace, and take as long or as short as you want. There are a couple of small viewing areas at the end of tunnels, and a larger open area where most of the view is. It's a brief interlude if there are no crowds, like 20-30 minutes. Obviously, crowds will make it longer, but most of that is because of waiting for the elevator going up and down, and not so much the viewing areas themselves. If you do it, consider pairing it with Niagara Takes Flight; it's in the same building, and although I didn't like it, if you want to experience it or do it, it makes sense to knock them both out while you're right there.

Boy, our journey behind the fall was a great mix of an underground and exterior experience. The waiting queue took FOREVER, but we managed to make it to the subterranean. Along the way, there were many scenic points with some inside the falls, but we liked the exterior ones better.
We did this back-to-back to the boat tour and as someone else mentioned - it's a less wet version of that. I don't know if you really need to do both - but we had already booked it so, no turning back for us! It's neat to go underneath into the tunnels because you can almost feel the pressure and power of the falls, especially when you get to the lookout points under the falls where the water is crashing down. This is neat - doesn't take very long - probably about half an hour at most. It's nice that it is a part of the Table Rock Welcome center which offers dining, shopping and viewing of the falls so you can spend a few hours here doing all of that while already enjoying this experience.
Less wet version Maid of the Mist, stationary, move at your own pace, self-guided tour. Prepay in advance for the next, open time slot and return 5-15 mins prior to start time. Must show your printed ticket(s) to employee(s). Wear comfy, covered shoes. You're welcome to bring your phone(s) for capturing photos and priceless memories. We observed two male employees being playful with customers for receiving ponchos. Continue walking and reading about the history through the line, taking an elevator to upper level. You're welcome to stay as long as you like in three different areas. With this experience on upper level, you'll feel the mist and witness throngs of people in red ponchos riding Maid of Mist, see and hear roaring falls with a Native American Indian name on the upper deck. I didn't see; however, there are stairs to walk down and access the lower deck, which I missed. Based on my observation, you're able to experience the mist, get wet, notice plethora of people in red ponchos riding Maid of the Mist, and see a closer view of Niagara Falls. My husband visited the lower deck. There's also another side tunnel to explore. Reception is not the greatest. We met again at the gift shop. I wish there were signs, maps, or have employees announce what is available on the tour. More can be done to make this attraction stand out. Visit, explore, watch your step, and take your time. Ideal attraction for those that dislike motion sickness. I would definitely arrive earlier and return to venture again for the experience. Only in CA.
We came in the "winter" so the portals were still frozen and icy. The lower deck was not accessible. It was covered in ice and snow. But the observation deck we could access was well worth the trip. It was really cool to see the falls up pretty close and a great view.

My partner was so excited to do this, so we booked tickets online in advance and it made us select a time slot. Because of various delays beyond our control, we were very nervous to arrive on time (which we did in the end), but come to discover that we did not have to rush, as we could have entered at any time, along with the literal hundreds of other people there. The ticket takers didn't even bother to look at our tickets, and just herded people along, resulting in a very warm queue that was extremely slow moving. The observation area was worth the wait though, as getting that close to the falls is an experience I would not trade for the world. Pro tip: skip the other points, the line is not worth the selfie, and the observation area is by far the main event. read more

A once in a lifetime experience. We went down an elevator got provided ponchos and had the opportunity to walk through a set of tunnels that went behind the falls. It was absolutely incredible. I do wish there was more information on the history of the tunnel. However besides that it was amazing! read more
Another fun experience at Niagara Falls to check out is the Journey Behind the Falls. This actually takes you down an elevator shaft and into tunnels that come out at openings behind the falls. Another unique and amazing way to experience the sheer force of these falls. One part of the tunnels opens to a deck where you can go out and stand beside the falls. The price may be a little high, but it's a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity. I doubt you'll be able to do this anywhere else. read more
We purchased the adventure pass, which includes journey behind the falls. We were scheduled for 2pm, our passes were scanned, and we jumped into what looked like a short line in the lobby of the table rock building. Once we got through the line in the lobby, we had to go wait in a line going downstairs, then a winding line for photos, then a separate room, and 45 minutes later the elevators. It was hot, humid, and stinky in line. Once we finally got into the tunnels, the experience was also underwhelming. There are two dark openings where you can only see a white curtain of water. The observation deck is a lot cooler and good for photo ops. But space is limited. On the way back up we had to waiting in line again to leave. By this point we were ready to scale the outside to escape. I started to feel a little claustrophobic, and I'm not normally affected by small spaces. Too many people, too close, in too small a space. read more

The view from the deck is unmatched! If you are deciding between this or a boat tour: I would consider: the boat tour will be a full experience, poncho needed! Just a boat trip full of giggles and mist. Journey behind the falls, long lines for a portal hole that I'm still slightly confused about But a one of a kind view from the falls while staying dry, poncho not needed. Journey behind the falls is located in a nice building with lots of fun lunch options for the whole family so a nice slow down or hang out if that's what you need! read more

Let's face it, the experience is overpriced, but it gets you the best view closest to the falls and it was strangely interesting to be beneath the waterfall. I liked seeing the old trails that were closed (behind glass and doors). The proximity to the falls is spectacular. read more

Walking behind and right up against the Falls is an unforgettable experience! The only other attraction that surpasses this is the Cruise that takes you into the heart of the Horseshoe Falls. I'm thrilled that I had the opportunity to experience both attractions because it allows you to truly immerse yourself in the falls at your own pace. In this experience, you'll get much closer to the Falls, hearing the thunderous roar and feeling the water spray against you. read more
This is awesome! Can't stop thinking how fast it would fill up a empty lake. The force of the water fall vibrates the ground. It sounds like thunder when you walk in the tunnel. All this water makes me thirsty. It's a perfect sales pitch for the restaurants. Cuz after all the walking I did I'm hungry and thirsty. read more

Journey Behind the Falls - A View You'll Never Forget The Canada Side of Niagara Falls Takes the Win Let's get into it... one thing I will say is the Canada side is better when it comes to Niagara Falls. Argue with your momma. The amount of beauty you get to see from this side, along with all the interactive tours, is unmatched. The Journey Behind the Falls is a must. This tour gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the falls and the structures that keep it all together. You'll not only get a front-facing view outside, but also a behind-the-falls perspective that is honestly breathtaking. For most of the tour, you're walking through tunnels, and it's wild to think about how they were even built while handling that much constant rushing water. The first stop puts you directly behind the falls (safely behind a gate, of course), but you still feel the power of the heavy water. Keep going and you'll reach the observation deck with steps that take you even closer to the falls. The view is spectacular, you even see the boats cruising right up into the mist. It's one of those moments where you'll definitely want to FaceTime someone just to show them how incredible it is in real time. For only about $20, this tour is absolutely worth it. I'll 100% be doing it again the next time I visit. read more
Spring break in April and it was cold but the crowds were less so we were able to see the backside of a waterfall. Definitely worth it. Observation deck was not open but you can still get up and personal. Folks were tossing coins into the waterfall which was cool to make a wish. I recommend if you're coming out to Niagara. read more
This was a very fun experience. If you are looking for another thing to do besides the maid of the mist then this is it. It has a nice history at the bottom of the walk way and it's a nice feeling of waking under it all. I would say it's a must compared to the other one that is out there read more
We use the package for this attraction. You put on a poncho and go down the elevator you are able to walk out on the platform and see the falls up close. You don't get super wet just some mist. We went in mid-May so it wasn't real busy but I hear it in June and July it can get very busy in the hall way can get noisy and claustrophobic FYI. But we loved it. Took a bunch of pictures and videos. You'll probably spend about 30 to 40 minutes Doing this attraction. You can also walk down some hallways and there's a couple of lookouts where you can see the water rushing down. Not much to see but you see how powerful the water is. In the beginning they take your picture and you can buy it but I think it's very expensive. We just took our own photos. Definitely get the package if you're going to do Niagara Falls Ontario. read more

This is an amazing attraction to get as close as you can to Niagara Falls without a boat. The entrance is downstairs at the Table Rock Visitors Center. You view the falls from the front area as well as the cataracts to the side. Totally worth the cost for an amazing view. Another tourist was yelling "oh my god" like it was Taylor Swift's Eras Tour surprise song time. Be prepared to get wet and they do provide ponchos. Looking forward to coming back here in the future for sure. read more

Pack patient but worth it. A must do but only once event. We went late July, while it seemed most the city was lower in capacity this attraction. The line formed to join this in the gift shop which took about 90minutes to get down to the tunnels. Wheel in the tunnels, you can't buy spend as much time as you like but lines form to see the outlook points behind the falls. They tend to be about 10mins each. read more
My family and I went on a Niagara Falls vacation this past week and did all there was to do on both the USA and Canadian side. We were originally only going to do Cave of the Winds but heard that there was this experience on the Canadian side. It's a scheduled event but once you're in line you have to wait in there down the stairs, 4 rows in once room, 6 lines in another room, go up the elevator, and then wait in line for all three of the viewing spots they have. 2 of the spots are directly behind the Falls which is cool but you can't see anything. The main and biggest viewing spot is amazing and super close but that's really the only amazing thing to it. It's a good photo opp but doesn't offer much else. I'm glad we did it but also wouldn't have mined if we didn't, knowing what I know now. If you have the extra cash and some time to waste, sure, why not!? But if you're choosing between this and something else (I recommend cave of the winds!), choose something else. read more
Had a great time with the family. Highly recommend this excursion if you're on the Canadian side. They give you a poncho to wear once you're down near the falls. There's two decks to watch the waterfall from close proximity and there's a couple of "portals" where you are behind the falls. You can hear the thunderous roar of the falls. We went in January but were very lucky that the decks and the portals were open. I read that they close a deck if it gets to dangerous (icy) conditions but we got to enjoy it all. read more

FYI: DO NOT WEAR SANDALS AND/OR SHOES THAT ARE SLIPPERY WHEN WET. The tunnels are dark, and slippery. It's not a place for sexy shoes, running or rushing. The views are priceless. It's a must when visiting Niagara Falls. I encourage everyone to be prepared for the lines you are going to wait in, and the amount of people that will be around you. It's worth it, but you need patience. If you are claustrophobic and/or short of patience. This is not for you! I will never forget this experience. You can feel the power of the falls. It's powerful and real... you will definitely get wet from the mist of the falls as well. I will be back for sure, it's breathtaking and so much to see, and experience. read more
Holy Moly! You will get wet!! [Niagara Falls, ON Canada] Our 4-hour tour package included the expertly guided walking tour with Philip (our tour guide), City Cruises Boat, and this attraction, Journey Behind the Falls. Philip took care of getting all the tickets included in this tour package. This relieves us from the hassle of getting in line to get our own tickets. The entire tour experience was on the Canada side. Our group skipped the line and got on the elevator first for pre-reserved access to the Journey Behind the Falls experience. We descended down the stairs into the rocky caves behind Niagara Falls where we got to see first hand crashing water (like the sound of thunder) echo through the tunnels from the Cataract Portal and the Great Falls Portal. We continued to the path that led to a ledge on the side of the falls where we felt and experienced the true power of 3,160 tons of water a second as it comes cascading down close by. Whoa, wow! Ponchos are included in this self-guided tour because you will get wet some more. LoL! Review #3048 read more
