My wife called AAMCO up and in a matter of a few hours my truck was up and running and all I needed was a battery cable adjustment and not a 1200 dollar starter job. You have mine and my wife's business for life. Thank you for all you guys do and for you honestly and integrity and that is a rare find these days!

These guys do okay work on transmissions, I'll say that. Now let's get to the other aspects of car…read morecare. They're completely dishonest, lied right to my face numerous times throughout this process. After I paid them 6k the transmission didn't have reverse and they told me pretty much too bad because they couldn't duplicate the problem. I'm missing several pieces from my vehicle including the hardware that fastens them, and all they have to offer me is a piss-poor excuse as to how that wasn't their fault even though nobody else has worked on the vehicle at all. They make questionable mistakes and are not willing to own up to it, for that reason I would say go anywhere but here. Sadly I didn't hear all the bad until after I had my vehicle dropped off here (I was out of town and unable to research as I normally would and just wanted my vehicle repaired) . These people will do you NO favors and from what I can see, the bare minimum of what you paid for. Sucks that I can't give 0 stars.

I had a Mass Air Flow error on my 2019 Chevy Cruze. Also had a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring…read moresystem) that needed to be replaced. All done in a day and the price was not hateful -- 400 bucks for both including labor. Today the check engine light came on again, related to the MAF. Another MAF related error came up. I happened to read about the air filter before I drove down and mentioned it to Schaeffer. After checking, discovered the filter had warped causing part of the issue. Schaeffer replaced it for free! Always fair and customer driven. Cheers!

I requested a quote to replace the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor on my 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport…read more The shop quoted $388.65 for the OEM sensor, $80 labor, plus $199 for "reprogramming the module," for a total of $744.15. As someone who works on cars myself, I know that a MAF sensor is plug-and-play on this vehicle and does not require any programming. The "reprogramming" they quoted usually just means driving the car around to recalibrate the computer, which takes minutes, yet they charged $200 for it. When I spoke on the phone with a representative who gave the name "Trevor," he said the reprogramming might not even be needed, but they wouldn't know until after doing the work. To me, this interaction felt untrustworthy. He also used jargon unnecessarily to make it sound more complicated than it is, something any reputable mechanic shop should avoid. The labor to replace the sensor is typically 5-10 minutes, and the part can be purchased OEM (Nissan factory) for ~$230-$250. My advice: get a second opinion or buy the part yourself to save hundreds of dollars.

First, they honored the lifetime warranty that Napa and other auto parts places gave the alternator. Secondly, they gave a year longer warranty on labor than the local Toyota dealerships. Lastly, they have the best price. Replacing the alternator is nearly an $800 job. Because of the high expense, Adam took it upon himself to test it before simply replacing it. It turns out, it wasn't bad after all. My van has a lot of specialized driving equipment that allows me to drive, even though I am a quadriplegic paralyzed from my chest down. When Adam and his team were unsure how to troubleshoot some of the specialized equipment, he did not hesitate to call the handicap equipment company that built my van. They took the time to properly diagnose the problem and even helped me contact a local company specializing in the equipment installed in my van. Furthermore, they did not charge me for all their help! So instead of costing nearly $800 to replace an alternator that was not bad, I was able to replace a $26 backup battery that tied into my Specialty Equipment. I cannot speak highly enough of the team at Melvin's! Adam and the others treated us with respect, honesty, and like family. I know who to call first with any auto issues that my family and I may have in the future! Thank you for all of your help!

Figured I would give a local shop a shot at fixing. Ended up using Bozard Ford mobile service who did a stellar job diagnosing. Sorry Melvin, I gave you a shot.
