One is 13 and the other is 6 currently, but they both started elementary with her. That was the best foundation for them. This year she is retiring and it is a shame. It is easy to find good teachers in SAISD. But she was great I'd say she was the best Arnold has had. We will miss you and it was a privilege to have our kids in your class. Arnold is a great school and it always has the parents involved. You can tell once you drop off your child. The principal or the VP are always at the front door to great children. It teaches them to learn to separate from parents and it's time to learn. These kids are treated great and they learn respect.

My kid loves it, and always talks about how much fun she had with Terri and Katie and Lourdes each time she comes home from school. All the teachers and staff there are amazing and keep you up to informed. Katie is one of my favorites, and keep us "in the know" with out us even asking. Wendy and Jo do an amazing job behind the scenes. I love that I get weekly emails about everything that's going on at the school and her class. If you are looking for a great school to call home ACORN is the place! They do have a wait list and going on a tour is a must. I recommend going online and check dates for the open house or call.

This school program is not like the regular school districts, the teaching and grading system is a "360" to the public schools. As far as I know, all the teachers at this school care and love their teaching job. Unlike the kindergarten public school my son first attend, it's was sad and horrible. The teachers there seem to take on the their role more like a job than a career. My son is happy attending school here, even when he's sick he still wants to go to class. I tell you, it's different here and different in a good way. Also the cafeteria food is also good, most of it is made on the school kitchen. They publish a catalog that they'll mail out to you if you ask, or you can stay updated on their website. The course descriptions seem to be accurate, and the class fees include the materials like textbooks. The classes range from language classes, to accounting, to painting, knitting- they offer a wide variety of fun, practical classes. Each teacher I've had so far has been knowledgeable, qualified, clear spoken with a lesson plan and handouts. The classes are held at various locations around town, from high schools to community centers. The signage is generally good. Taking classes here is too cool for school!

My kids did not receive the accommodations specified in their 504 regularly, and I didn't receive timely 504 updates. My gifted kids were in GT in SAISD and in Northside ISD, but NEISD decided they could not be in the program because of one test administered on 1 day at the school headquarters. Another failure of NEISD is their lack of care for the less fortunate students and families. There is no affordable after school care or summer programs available. The schools on the wealthier neighborhoods (Stone Oak, etc) have nice new facilities and athletic fields, and the schools that are in less desirable neighborhoods have run down buildings and athletic fields. It's no wonder so many charter schools are becoming popular. It's really disgusting and the district should be ashamed to call themselves public education. It's all about money and politics, apparently.

Bad investment. High drop-out rates and low-quality teaching…read more As a graduate of Providence, I can speak from experience to the lack of professionalism and opportunity at this institution. From freshman year to graduation, my academic cohort experienced a 50% drop-out rate. In respect to the young ladies who did enter college / university upon HS graduation, many later dropped out of their advanced studies. In regards to daily life at Providence, teachers were often disengaged and money was not invested properly in education. For example, our science classes oftentimes used equipment from the 1990s and our lab experiments were rationed due to lack of supplies. Furthermore, prosperous fields of study such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) were not encouraged. As one teacher pointed out to our class, "It is better to learn how to clean the classroom to become a proper housewife than to spend the school's financial resources on science / math equipment as young girls do not need to excel in these subjects." To make matters worse, during my time at Providence, there was a firing of staff due to alleged money laundering. I kindly recommend parents to research other institutions.
