A great diner. Not living in Vermont but it doesn't matter. This dinner was better than my local dinners in my state. The food excellent. I got the House Burger. The burger was well cooked. The cheese was melty. I would suggest a different bun. The fries were crisp not soggy which you do not always find. The service was great. We were seated immediately. Took a good time for the food to come to us. The server did not forget any part of our meal except refilling the ketchup bottle but it is not a big deal. The overall look of diner looked average. There was no unique decor of the place. Diners should be unique

I feel bad people give them a low rating. Yes the decor is outdated and it's a diner but the staff was super friendly. I found the breakfast dishes we ordered to be very good and large quantity for a reasonable price. We went when it wasn't too busy around 9:30 am and service was speedy. People need to be kinder and not so entitled and mean to businesses that are short staffed and struggling during these times. It's Great to even have a breakfast place to dine wince there aren't many around.

The choices were between an Idaho omelette or a chicken omelette. The chicken was a dollar more. I asked if I could get the Idaho with chicken instead of sausage. It was $2 more... silly to me. The seat backs are super hard and uncomfortable. Cute fall decor all around. The bathrooms are super old and dark and makes you feel uncomfortable. (See photo) The food was not so good, no flavor at all. Looked good, but literally zero flavor... the Hollandaise sauce was good, so I put that on everything. I really wouldn't suggest going here. There is a diner right across the street with amazing reviews. We will be going there next time. (The maple city diner)

My husband, son and I came here for breakfast on a sunday morning, even though they were fairly busy, our waitress greeted us promptly, she was very friendly. The wait time between placing our orders, the St. Albans #2 and 2 western omletes, was about 10 minutes. I work in a rest, and considering how busy the diner was, that's great time! Our food arrived hot and delicious! Everything was make correctly, and our server returned twice during our meal to check on us. It did take a little longer for her to get our check, but not a huge deal! All in all it was a great meal, total was about $40. We left her a $10 tip, and all 3 of us left full, and happy with our experience! Thank you St. Albans diner!

Ambience: It's a genuine 1950s Worcester Lunch Car--complete with Formica counters, vinyl booths, and tile floors that feel like they haven't changed since before your grandparents were born. Charming if you like that "museum exhibit" vibe--but cozy it isn't. Seating is tight, and the wait can feel longer than vintage itself. Food: Yes, it's scratch-made breakfast and lunch--maple syrup is local, English muffins made in-house, eggs fresh from Vermont farms. Great effort. But then you find out the famous hot turkey sandwich and VT burger that earned Roadfood praise under the old owner are no longer on the menu. The new proprietors swapped nostalgia for a rewritten menu--and higher prices. Some folks rave about the blueberry jam and standout flavors, but others griped that biscuits and gravy were "downright gross." Contrasting reviews and extra-charge condiment notes further muddle expectations. Service: Staff tend to move with diner efficiency--fast, polite, and no fuss. That said, reviews note some inconsistency: stellar one day, meh the next. They're friendly, but don't expect a guided gastronomic tour--just order, eat, move on. Value: With plates clocking in near $19 for diner fare like chicken-fried steak and breakfast burrito bowls, this isn't exactly your classic greasy spoon find. Everything tastes well-executed, but you're paying for that curated "local ingredients" label--not bargain basement. Bottom line: If you're nostalgic for a parlor that looks like a train car and serve-your-mother's-recipe breakfast served up with giddy pride, Parkway Diner might still charm. Just be ready to pay for ingredient provenance and ditch your hopes for old favorites like the hot turkey sandwich or VT burger. Solid for breakfast or lunch, but don't expect miracles--even if they serve bottomless coffee.
