Their equipment stopped working and they weren't able to repair it and charged over $1300.00 in repairs that did not fix the problem. This is the second year-end in a row that SSD has sent me a "60 day past due notice". A call to their finance department resulted in my learning that there is an unpaid amount of $2. When I objected to being bothered for such a small amount, I was given an idiotic response: "That is how their computer works". I use to have ADT and they are absolutely HORRIBLE! When you have a problem you get routed to the Philippines and you can't understand half of what they say. Their is no quick call. Expect to be on the phone with ADT's customer support for a minimum of 1 hour. The greatest thing about SSD Alarm is they do not outsource employees. When you call you talk to someone local that speaks English and clearly. You also are not on hold or rerouted over and over again. They come out right away if needed. Have been a customer of SSD Alarm for many years, but just terminated their contract due to poor service. SSD never verified whether the alarm worked. Once they sent a technician, he spent more time on the phone talking to his supervisor than he did working, and the company then billed us for $295 for installing a ten foot telephone line, which still did not work. Talking to the supervisor was fruitless. We have moved to a better security provider that cares to provide service. Our company has been with SSD Alarm for 14 years in Houston, TX. We used them because their system was installed in the industrial building that we were leasing at the time. The relationship lasted many years. Three years ago, SSD upgraded our system at no cost to us with a contract in place. After 14 years, we moved our location but still had about 2 years left on our contract. I worked with Florence and Stephanie to help us out with the upgraded costs at the old location and they both worked diligently with our company to reduce the cost substantially. SSD was proving their loyalty to us for being a long standing customer. The customer service is top notch. We have not been happy with SSD Alarm since they bought out the smaller alarm company we initially hired. We decided to cancel with this company in August and I spoke with a customer relations person at that time. Over the next two months they suddenly were reaching out trying to retain our business (too little, too late). They delayed the cancellation and sent me another bill. DONT EVER GO WITH THIS COMPANY! They trick you in their contract and make you believe you are signing a simple 5 year contract but little do you know it automatically renews with no notice for another 5 years. We were with them for 7 years and moved our business and wanted to move over the alarm. The sales rep wanted to charge us $400 and an increase in monthly charges for our new location. We decided to go with someone else since they were a lot cheaper. SSD waited a month and then contacted us telling us we owed them $1600 for cancelling our contract. Stay away from these guys! Their prices and equipment do not even compare to ADT. I moved in a warehouse which had their equipment in it since 2013 and had not even been used since. I gave them a call to get a quote to get the system back on. The guy gave me a ridiculous quote to simply hit the switch on it. I contacted ADT and they literally gave me all new updated wireless equipment for 25% of the quoted price SSD gave me. Monthly payment was literally cut in half!!! I guess this guy thought I was born yesterday. To make this even better, the guy was so upset that I did not fall for his outrageous quote he sent a guy to pick up the 10 years old equipment. SSD is one of my worst alarm vendors of the 3 companies I use for different properties. We used McNeil Security for years which was a family owned company and they were unbelievable. Unfortunately McNeil sold the company about 2 years ago to SSD and the experience has plummeted. Our biggest complaints are: *Poor customer service on the phone for account changes *Service technicians that don't adequately know the features and benefits of the installed systems *They send out collection letters for past due accounts when they forget to send quarterly invoices for payments *They change the terms of the original contracts such as raising the monthly fees but uphold us to all parts of the contracts such as term length before cancellation. There are many, many choices out there for service and many are not that great. They will all have either 3 or 5 year contracts The best company we have had to date is SST in terms of equipment, inside and field tech help and contract length and pricing. Thanks, Bobby read more

WARNING!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! These guys are a crooks and frauds. They make you sign a contract without a bunch of nasty terms. We were customers for 8 years and they keep rolling over the contract and you can't stop in the middle of a year. So after your 2 years is up, you have to renew a year at a time. If your company needs to stop in the middle of year which is normally the case when you move or end your lease, they are going to come after you for the remaining term. Do not use them, totally unfair and dirty. Also during our contract, they did a bunch of nasty things to us as well. I will write about it later. STAY AWAY, go with someone like ADT.
