So...this is the 3rd review I'm leaving. First was 5-star for the customer service, which was great; i felt they really cared. The 2nd was for the lack of efficiency of Spruce...terrible! (how are they still in business??). That review received 1 star..only because it was the lowest rating I could leave. Anyway, I must say that if you're fortunate enough to have Alexis for support, then you've lucked up. This young man is so knowledged!! Compassionate does not even describe him!! After numerous attempts on trying to diagnose and rectify the issue (it was an inverter which went bad), and many MANY emails and phone attempts, Alexis contacted me (I'll call him my 'Angel', lol). We were on the phone for about an hour; Alexis apologized on behalf of Spruce, then meticulously reviewed each and every contact effort I had with Spruce, as well as my invoices with PSEG and Spruce, and determined that Spruce was in error. He figured out what amount he would submit as a credit towards future invoices by calculating each month that I was charged full rate- when my solar wasn't even producing. He said he would follow up...and today he did!! It was at the right time, as a few days ago I received another billing due on the 20th- where the newly issued credit should've wiped that out. I called cust svc and was told the credit wouldn't hit the account for at leasr 1-2 billing cycles . Well, Alexis called me at the right time!! I explained, and he listened. He assured me this should def. hit around the billing time due, which made me feel assured. OMG, he is excellent!! Alexis truly understands the meaning of serving the customer . I give a 5-star rating..NOT for Spruce directly, but for Alexis, who represents the company. I wish i could say thanks in person. I truly wish all employees were as stellar. read more

I bought my home in 2022. A solar system was already installed on the roof. Spruce had me sign a new lease to keep it running. Big mistake. No one told me the inverter had never been set up. It was never connected to WiFi. It was never commissioned. There was zero monitoring in place from day one. I only found out by calling the inverter manufacturer myself. They confirmed the system has no production data on file. None. Ever. Meanwhile, Spruce kept sending me production numbers. They claimed the system generated 346 kWh in May. That number came from nowhere. A working 16-panel system in Los Angeles should produce over 1,000 kWh that month. I have paid lease fees for over three years. I got nothing in return. My electricity bills stayed high the entire time. Spruce did not disclose the problem when I signed. They did not fix it when I complained. They did not even respond to my first demand letter. Do not sign anything with this company. Read your utility bills closely. Call your inverter manufacturer yourself. Do not trust their numbers. read more

Spruce Solar Power Company is the absolute worst of its kind. We took over the solar lease when we bought our house so we are stuck with this very mismanaged company. We could go on and on ranting, but what would be the point? Avoid this company at all times. The customer does not count here. Some employee will be paid to say, "I'm sorry" over and over without addressing the real issues. Words do not change facts. Run away from this company and don't look back. read more

6 OF MY 40 SOLAR PANELS DON'T WORK -- AND SPRUCE WON'T SEND A TECHNICIAN TO FIX THEM. Six panels in my 40-panel residential solar system are currently not producing any power -- 15% of the system. I contacted Enphase, the equipment manufacturer, and went through their troubleshooting process. Enphase determined that remote troubleshooting had been exhausted and that an on-site service visit is required. Spruce Power is responsible for servicing my system. Despite being informed that six panels are not producing and that an on-site visit is required, Spruce has refused to dispatch a technician because the system as a whole is still producing above their minimum production criteria. That makes no sense to me. Six panels are not functioning. I am not asking Spruce to replace equipment unnecessarily or compensate me for lost production. I am simply asking them to send a qualified technician to diagnose and repair the six non-producing panels. A solar service provider should not consider a system with 15% of its panels non-functional to be operating properly simply because total production remains above an internal threshold minimum. I have repeatedly tried to resolve this directly with Spruce. I am posting this review because they have still refused to send someone to diagnose and repair the problem. I will gladly update this review if Spruce sends a technician and resolves the issue. read more

Convincing the company that my system was down and getting someone out was a nightmare. However, Eric from service was professional, competent, and reliable. He troubleshoot and had my system operational within 2 hours. It is a shame it took getting the state and the BBB involved to get the company motivated to get him out. read more

Today they sent out a technician AGAIN WITHOUT THE PART!!!! THE WORST COMPANY EVER DO NOT GET YOUR SOLAR POWER FROM THEM. How about you send me a check for the invertor and I'll buy one. Or is it you don't want to pay for the part that is under warranty?!?! read more

If I could, I would give this business 10 MINUS stars. By ALL means, stay away from Spruce Power! Spruce has been truly a disappointment ever since they took over my existing lease. Spruce has not fixed my solar system 100% and they have owe me 2 years of credit for not fulfilling their agreed contract. They still have not fixed my system and are now wanting me to buy out a system that does not work 100% or they want me to extend the lease after they replace with a new system. I will NEVER do business with the system in the future. STAY AWAY. Just take at all the negative reviews here.....SPRUCE sucks! But of course, they make sure to remind me that my lease payment is due every month. How about providing a fix as the contract states? I pay a lease and SPRUCE maintians my system ???? read more

Impressed with technicians that came to our home to replace Solar Panels! We'd like to compliment Daniel and Melvin on a job well done! They are the So. Cal Technicians for Spruce Power. On April 13,2026, they installed 10 new Panels on our roof. They took down the old ones and installed the new ones. Daniel and Melvin were efficient and professional, they are a "Team"! When the job was finished, they cleaned up everything! Can't tell they were even here, but for the new Panels!! Daniel and Melvin are an "Impressive Asset" to their company! Thank you Daniel and Melvin for "A JOB WELL DONE!!" Albert and Maria Martinez Los Angeles, CA read more

As expected, after I was told to contact Spruce, I did--and, just as I figured, I haven't heard a single thing back. What did show up right on time, though, was my invoice for payment on a system that still isn't working. Funny how the billing department has no trouble communicating, even when no one else does. read more

So the house was closed in March but the transfer is still pending over 150$. The escrow company along with the bank manager for deposits from Columbia bank sent them the details of the check that was cashed 3 months ago. They have no record of it and we are stuck in Limbo. This solar company has become a nightmare to deal with. Whoever is working there cannot get it done. read more

Big thanks to Jeremy from Asset operations, Daniel (solar tech) and Peter (California branch manager) from Spruce's newly established in-house CA team. Their professionalism and communication were excellent. Daniel replaced my faulty inverter quickly and left everything clean and well organized, and they're scheduled to come back soon to replace the second inverter. I did remove one star due to how long it initially took--almost a year and a half--to get the system repaired. However, I now understand Spruce was dealing with issues related to independent contractors before building their own California team. The improvement since forming the in-house department has been clear. read more

This company just request the same information from you time after time to stall. They don't even bother to send a technician to come and look when the system is clearly not working. On top of that, they charge you on assumed production, not actual production to get more money from you. Their rep will just send you emails every few months to request a long list of information from you and repeat. I am going to file BBB complaint along with OAG. New users, do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

I've had broken equipment for 6 months now, can't get the contact center to help me. I get tickets numbers to follow-up on, but no one gets back to me. I have 7 years of solar data to prove my system (under warranty & contract) is malfunctioning, but they continue to be in breech of contract by refusing support while continuing to charge me monthly. Contact center refused to let me speak to a manager or higher when I asked. They are charging me more in monthly fees than the system produces....i'm actually losing money on this. Update 1/5: Bianca P is asking me to private message her to review my account, but there are no messaging options on this accounts.....only "request quote". More Speuce lies and misinformation on customer service. Update 1/5: Courtney just called from Spruce and gave me the same run around. "Your system is over producing...we have access to all your data...". However, refused to listen that system production has dropped since the inverter stopped working. The solar agreement states the system fee should not be higher than the solar credits from the city, she didn't want address how Spruce is negligent in complying with that part of the agreement. She offered to send email so I can reply back with data they are already ignoring, still haven't received the email she said she would send. read more

Yelp needs to offer - stars as an option. Spruce should have none, zero stars. I am going to keep posting until someone comes and takes their crappy shi* off, or fix it. Do not respond to this post with, we are so sorry to hear that someone will reach out. If you see that reading these reviews, please note they do not contact. They want to show someone is responding and working at this crappy company but I will assure you, they are not. It is probably AI sending these generic responses. We are on month seven with broken equipment. They are a company for solar, but its odd they can't fix their equipment. They have to hire out. Now I am going to go out on a limb here and say, no one 3rd party wants to work with this crappy company because they SUCK, so they can't find anyone to work on their equipment. Because who in their right mind for SEVEN months, going on eight can't find a company to help fix their equipment. I still will never know how your doors are still open. If you choose them for ANYTHING, that is on you. If you google, reviews for this company reddit, etc all are throwing them in the mud because they are horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't stand there are say its all us, when we all have the same issue, you suck! read more

My solar has been down for a while now and we called Spruce to get a technician to come take a look. After about a month and a half they finally did send a tech out. Melvyn was amazing. He came out on time and quickly figured out exactly what was wrong. Went on the roof and fixed what needed to be fixed and got the whole system back up and running again. The whole experience with Spruce was horrible until Melvyn came out. He was very knowledgable about the system and all the panels. He even noticed that my "import" and "export" wires were crossed and the meter was showing the wrong information. Highly recommend Melvyn to everyone. He single handedly turned a 1 star review into a 5 star review. read more

I have been trying to payoff our account for five months. I have called and sat on the phone, I have left call back numbers and received no return calls. I have also emailed several times. I have received one email with our balance of 29K after 20 years of payments and a statement that we have to pay $400 fee for them to provide our payoff. When I called it was the same no response. Our original agreement had no payoff early penalty. I did not sign up with this company. This by far is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I'm ready to file bankruptcy and be done with them. SprucePower Customer service is horrible, worst I have ever experienced. If Yelp allowed 0 or negative numbers, I would give SprucePower a -3, but I'm forced to give 1 star. I would give zero stars if that was an option. My monitoring hasn't worked for 2 years. I don't believe my system is working properly, especially since my electricity provider is saying I am low performing compared to like homes in my area, but spruce said they won't do anything since they can see it's working, based on review of my electric bills, even if not what it's supposed to. I have made so many calls with no resolution. I have asked to speak to a manager more times than I'd like, with no call backs as told. It's always "someone will get back with you in 24-48 hours. I am now requesting a reasonable buy out amount since you are in breach of contract, but I'm getting an amount that is way more than the fair market value. I would never have gone with Spruce on my own, but unfortunately the original company I bought my solar from went bankrupt and I was placed with Spruce. Buyer beware. Spruce power's service is absolutely awful. My solar panels have not been producing since February and it is now the middle of July and they still haven't repaired them. Absolutely the worst solar company around. My solar inverter stopped working and it took the company 8 months to fix it while I still had to pay the lease payment each month. As being a 100% disabled Veteran who has been with the Spruce Power solar company for over 15 years, this has to be to worst solar company. I have been out of solar service for over 5 months due to having a bad inverter. Every week I have been calling to see when there are going to be fix it and they tell me I am in the portal but for the last couple of months. I have even offered to fix it by having a local service company and they told me no because it will void my contract. It seems like there is no hurry to fix it and having PG&E is very expensive. This is why I got solar. Again this company Spruce Power has to be the worse company ever. I would highly recommend nobody use this company because they do not want to fix anything. Spruce Power is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Poor communication and overall terrible business.

If i could give Spruce Solar a Negative 10, I would. Our solar hasn't generated anything since last April. They are supposed to monitor the panels, they don't. I finally contacted them in June 2025. It took them until August to contact me back. Then I had to wait 8 months before they would even send someone out to diagnosis the problem. That was in April 2026. It is now June. All we need it 4 panels. No one at Spruce can give me an answer as to when this will be repaired. I am losing money everyday and will probably not get anything from them for the non production of power. I wish they would just come and take this piece of crap off my roof. Customer service is a joke, they are just gate keepers. read more

My Solar system with Spruce power has not been working for over 13 months now. Their customer service department is terrible, The Special escalations team is incapable of getting anything done, and their asset operations team is apparently non existent. Over the past year i have made about 25 phone calls to the company and have never been able to reach a supervisor nor has a supervisor EVER called me back. The workers in the SET just feed the company line of "someone will get back to you in 24 to 48 hours", over and over again and NOTHING EVER GETS DONE. Hey do not provide access to any management because they are not "customer facing". Its just terrible. The whole company as based on a system of lies to cover their inability to service their customers. read more

Our system has been underproducing for over 2 years, and customer service is the worse I have ever encountered. This company keeps giving you excuses after excuses not to get your solar system fixed. Finally I got someone to tell me you are underproducing and they will have someone come to my property to look at thee system, and I was told I would be placed on a RUSH basis, still waiting after 3 months to have someone come out. But if you are underproducing and have a lease contract, you still have to pay your monthly bill. They are unable to handle their customers since they have no local offices in Arizona. read more

This company lacks the ability to provide service for their customers or solar equipment. They do not return phone calls or communicate with customers when alerted to an issue. We have been waiting since early November of 2025 to get our panels functioning (now it is 6/4/26).They are polite but unable to give any information about issues, equipment pending arrival, time lines, etc... But they readily take our money. Even when I call them the wait time is initially 10 to 15 minutes then goes to 20 to 25 minutes then 25 to 30 minutes. They finally came on after 50 minutes but couldn't give any answers. Don't bother leaving a call back number... they don't call back. Based in Texas, they can't handle NY read more

This is the worst solar company. My panels have been producing zero power for over a year and half. Every time I call they say we are on the list for a repair man. Meanwhile still paying my monthly lease fee and a power bill. The problem is if I stop paying than they put a lien on my home and ruin my credit. I normally don't leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience with Spruce Power. My solar system has been non-functional for almost a month due to a "Ground Current - RCD" error (Error Code 10), and despite multiple phone calls and several emails, there's been no resolution. Each time I called, I was told they're still "looking for available technicians" in my area. When I asked via email if I could hire a local technician myself and be reimbursed, the answer was no. I also asked about compensation for the extra electricity bills I'm now paying on top of my solar payment and was told that wouldn't be possible either. A few days ago, I sent a clear message asking not to let this issue exceed 30 days, but that deadline is fast approaching and still no action has been taken. Bernadette B has been the contact person so far, but I haven't seen any real progress. To make things worse, many reviews show a consistent pattern of delays and unresolved issues for months, even up to a year, and it's very concerning that I'm now going through the same. Request Number: 1170329 Photos attached for reference. I will continue to update this review depending on how things progress. I hope Spruce Power starts taking customer support seriously before more customers go through the same thing. Still, I give it 2 stars for now because they answered my emails. read more

We sold our home in May before spruce solar purchased Sun Nova. We signed all the paperwork and had the solar switched to the new owner (the title company even confirmed the transfer). Now all the sudden I'm getting emails and phone calls demanding payment because the new owner isn't paying. I was on the phone for 2 hour to get this fix and was told that I'm not listed on the account so I won't be contacted anymore, only to receive a new email the next day IN MY NAME saying I need to pay the bill. Daniel had been here before to replace our meter and was just as professional as the first time he came, he really cared about us and worked very hard to get the solar panels as quickly as possible. Melvyn was a wonderful addition to making sure we had all our questions answered and that we understood how the system worked also.
