I never leave reviews, but I'll make an exception for Sprouts cafe. I went for brunch with my kids on Mother's day and we ordered the k bomb chicken waffle, along with huevos rancheros, as well as french toast and pancakes. Hands down my favorite location for all meals - breakfast/lunch/dinner in downtown Palo Alto! I do not get tired of Sprout Cafe. My favorite lunch or dinner order is the salmon with a side of mashed potatoes + grilled veggies. My husband loves the sous vide hanger steak and the kids love their kid-friendly options. This place is a staple lunch spot in downtown Palo Alto - surprised I hadn't tried it earlier! They have a huge menu of sandwiches, salads, and drinks, as well as some breakfast items that are served through lunch. While prices are aligned with most trendy casual PA restaurants ($20 per entree before tax and tip), the quality of the food and service was very impressive. I got a salmon salad and it came out very fast and the toppings were so fresh and tasty. You do order at the counter but I didn't realize they had more service - a kind server brought us water, silverware, and bussed our table! I would have tipped more if I had known. Overall a great place for a quick lunch. They have plenty of indoor seating and a few outdoor tables to enjoy dining al fresco as well. read more

Came here after taking family portrait at Elizabeth E Gamble garden. This was my friend favorite spot when she worked in the area. Overall the food is nicely plated and the portion larger than I expected. Usually I don't get salad but the salmon salad description sounded pretty good. The main con is that it takes some time for the food to come out so not really a quick lunch spot but is fine for social. Would love to check out their brunch next time. read more

OK, so first off, I apologize. You might ask why? Well, my wife and I came in looking for some good eats, and Sprouts came up as we were walking on a summer day. I was one of Sprouts' first customers years ago when they first opened and was always a fan, but it's been years since I drove up to my old stomping grounds. Their menu has evolved over the years, and it's less of a salad place and now serves all sorts of goodies. My wife and I split a Chipotle chicken sandwich and the rancher steak sandwich. After a short wait and a nice talk with our waiter, we were pleasantly surprised at the size and delicious smell of the sandwiches that appeared in front of us. Both sandwiches had a nice green salad complementing the order. The sandwiches were amazing; I'm a huge carnivore and was in heaven. My wife and I did our usual thing and split each half, and my gosh, we went silent before we knew it; the plates were left trembling... so now why the apology? I enjoyed the food the moment it hit the table that I forgot to take a picture. I guess that means that I'll have to find another excuse to come on up to Palo Alto. I got the chipotle chicken sandwich, so yummy. And the side salad was so refreshing. I loveeeed the water they offer. I can't wait to try their salads especially making your own. Their breakfast options look great but only available on the weekends. Finding parking can be a challenge which has prevented me from making another visit as fast as I want but I would definitely come back. The place is cute with enough seating. You order at the counter, so the service is minimal. I will say I noticed tables needing to be cleaned but the whole time we were there, multiple tables around us were not cleaned yet. Cute little cafe! There was outdoor seating so I was able to bring my dog with me for lunch. I recommend the fried chicken sandwich. The chicken tasted very high quality and the fried egg was a nice touch. I also like the house sauce they used with it. The chicken was very crispy and juicy. This is my second time coming in since the remodel. As a vegetarian eating salads can be a sort of hum drum experience. I have come twice for the Southwest salad, minus the bacon, sub for their tofu. Sauce on the side. Phenomenal both times. Like if you need to increase ur salad intake for health reasons this would be the spot, very fresh. Service: stellar! Chatted with person who took my order today and he was polite, engaged, and made a perfect recommendation for my wife to try as this was her first time. Apologies for. Since 2009, I've been captivated by the extraordinary variety of salads - made with quality ingredients and delicious dressings. Pictured here is the Davy salad (arugula, shaved fennel, candided walnuts, white cheddar cheese, corn, avocado and red onions with sesame-ginger dressing). I subbed out the arugula with romaine lettuce, added Furikake Tofu with salmon served on the side. Definitely a hearty favorite! My only ask is to bring back the old favorites - Kyoto and Harvest! I am surprised why this place doesnt have more ratings and reviews on Yelp. My friend recommended this spot after a hike and all I can say is I would definitely be back. They have a cute outdoor on the sidewalk for those sunny days in PA. The indoor seating is nice too and there's enough space between tables. Everyone working there was so welcoming and friendly. I was conflicted on whether to get the salmon wrap or a salad but I was really craving something light and refreshing after the hike so I went for the curry salad and MAN, I was sooo happy with my decision. The sauce was such a hit and they give to the perfect amount. The plate looked massive and I was unsure if I was going to eat it all but I definitely did! We also got their strawberry chia fizz which was delicious! It wasn't too sour or to sweet but the right amount of everything in it and to be honest I'm not a fan of sparkling drinks but this was great - the fresh berries added to it too! Now if you have a sweet tooth like me-- don't skip out on the desserts. This has got to be one the best spots for their cookies. We tried their chocolate chip cookies and bought more to take home lol. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The menu had lots of brunch options and also lunch options. Hard to choose as everything sounded delicious. They have vegetarian and vegan options. I have been coming to Sprout Cafe for a few years now, so the review is way overdue. I typically come to pick up something for dinner so I have had several salads from here -- tuna nicoise, davy, southwestern. All salads are really tasty and a good balance of proteins and vegetables. The portions are huge. What prompted me to write the review was my visit today. I went for a weekend brunch for a change, and our waiter Roberto was such a sweetheart. Very attentive and caring. We were offered the cardamon coffee bun on the house, which is apparently only available on weekends (if I heard that correctly). The bun is of a good size (see picture) and comes in 5 pieces with the way it was cut. The melted butter was placed in the middle. The bun was not overly sweet and the espresso wasn't too heavy. It actually would have been a great dessert but we had it before our main courses. All portions were pretty huge. Chelsea benedicts, moffle, omelette de chorizo, and avocado toast were all great. I also really enjoyed the tator tots. Again, big portion. I don't know what the dirty sauce that comes with the tator tots actually is but it's yummy. read more

This place used to be great. Last experience: stood in line to order at the register only to be told I had to go to a table for waiter service. OK. Waitress takes forever to take our order. My three year-old is getting close to nap time and ends up peeing her pants because the waitress couldn't understand what we were ordering. Not fun. Then we go to the bathroom, which has a code required, which the waitress did not give to us. Then we get back and ask if they have a booster for my three year-old. They say no. Then she asked for a highchair so I walk over grab the highchair and there are boosters sitting right next to it. Our food arrives, waiter asked if we need anything else. I asked for silverware, but he does not speak enough English to understand the word silverware. So I have to mime a fork for him to get it for us. Menu changed from many healthy salad options to waffles and different fried potatoes. Not worth $45 for a salad and kids meal. read more
