As a longtime Geek Squad member, I was used to relying on them to fix my laptop and at least retrieve my files -- so I was shocked when I was told they wouldn't even look at it because it was "too old" (purchased in 2020!) for their technicians to bother with. Desperate, we contacted OnSite Geeks and spoke with Sam, the owner. Over the phone, he immediately reassured me -- not only would he do everything possible to get the laptop running, but he was confident he could recover my data. Because I live quite a distance from their shop, Sam even arranged for a technician to meet us at a mutually convenient location. Incredible service! Within a week, my laptop was fully repaired, running perfectly, and every bit of my data was restored. The price was very reasonable--and most notably it was the price quoted--not sudden fees added. And remarkably, Sam personally delivered the laptop back to me at the same meeting point, saving me the extra driving time once again. I truly cannot recommend OnSite Geeks enough. I have been using Slaco for at least 3-4 years he repaired & cleaned my original computer. Then I bought one from him 18 months ago and it has performed perfectly and was reasonably priced. Andrew discussed at length with me my requirements and various options for a new computer based on my usage and tech savviness (not great). In all this time with say 4-5 visits to Slaco, Andrew has been the perfect gentleman, and also giving lots of advice in plain language. I don't know what planet the person who gave the bad review is from, but I firmly believe that people who have had a bad experience are far more likely to post a review, and that is another reason why I had to write this review. Definitely one of the dodgier computer stores I've bought from over the decades…read more I bought a new system from them recently, and maybe it's my fault for wanting to save a bit of money, but they cut corners and do a shoddy job. For one thing, they manage to offer the cheapest quality motherboards possible, so i have almost no room to expand my computer later on. The power supply is barely powerful enough for what they installed, with no room to expand further except replacing it with something powerful. The drives were installed haphazardly without proper mounting brackets, in one case screwed in sideways across three drive slots. One of the more egregious problems is that they sell me a board that is only compatible with dual ATI video cards but proceed to install an Nvidia GPU instead. So when i do upgrade the computer, i'm on the hook for buying two video cards anyhow Worst of all, instead of a modern OS, they installed Windows 7 and then "upgraded" it to Windows 10. In the process they somehow managed to mangle the installation and leave fundamental programs unworkable. I literally couldn't even open the Calendar or open the Windows Store on a clean install. If a computer store can't even install Windows correctly, how can i trust them to actually sell a computer. I'm enough of a geek to know how to dig into Windows Powershell and eventually fix the numerous problems, but that is simply not something i should have to do on a brand new computer. I will not be trusting this company with any of my problems in the future.
