I trusted the recommendation to have a solenoid valve replaced here called last week to get parts ordered and scheduled in bcos I live up north but work in San Diego. I filled out scheduling a visit that got no response. So I decided to give them a call as I've spoken to Monica and she is the one that does all paperwork and order parts. She said she'd get quotes and call me back. A few days went by no response, so I call again. I'm working on it, I'll call you back. Today is a new week and still no response. It's shocking when I tell people who recommended me, what I've began to go through and their responses were to contact the Dunns because that's not how they do business. I have yet to do that but I'm considering the suggestion. I can't seem to understand why Monica's behavior has changed this way towards helping that shop earn business. I am just getting an oil change, brakes looked at and I requested them to look to see if the driver seat has a fuse for the heating portion and if so to replace it. Well I have to say I am very happy with the service we received for my car. Prices were reasonable. Ready in a reasonable amount of time. I was sick with fear when I found out I had a transmission problem in my old SUV that I strictly use as a second car--I figured that fixing transmissions wasn't an inexpensive task. I had a great experience at this shop. Brian was always great when I called in and I even spoke with the owner Gerald during the "diagnosing the problem" phase. My car needed a lever replaced which took quite a bit of labor to removed the transfer case etc (or that is what I was told). The final bill was $309.10 (cheap for a transmission job). I would say that regardless of price ( I would have paid more) the experience was superb and I think that these guys really know their business. Come to find out, the owner is on some San Diego AM radio program on the weekends--I plan on listening this weekend! When your car gets F'd up you want the best--I did some research and I am glad it was this shop that fixed my car. They warrantied the job 12 month/12,000miles (because it was a minor repair), Otherwise it is a 3 year warranty Included in that price was also a Transmission service--filter, gasket, fluid, etc. since they were already in there... I also learned that they have another repair shop in Santee.

I called to get a quote for an AC service and flush and they were so much cheaper than the dealership and nearby shops. Very easy to make an appointment and they give you a discount if you're a AAA member. They also provide a ride back home if you live nearby. Will definitely be back for other car repairs when needed.

I took my car to a different shop, and they confirmed the repairs were not completed and fixed everything properly. Fast forward to today, I met an older woman at an auto parts store who had taken her car to this same shop for a fuel system sensor issue and etc. She spent what little money she had left and even borrowed money to replace specific parts. Unfortunately, her car is still having the same problems, and now she can't afford further repairs or drive the car far. Based on my experience and what I witnessed, I would not recommend this shop.

He did a quick preliminary diagnosis and gave me a fair quote for the alternator parts and labor. A few hours later, instead of just doing the expensive repair, he called me and explained that the alternator was actually fine -- the real problem was a wire that was shorting out and causing the symptoms. The repair ended up costing significantly less than expected because they were honest enough to fix the actual issue instead of replacing parts I didn't need. I also had them change the fluids and filters while it was there. He said it looked like my spark plugs needed changing as well. Everything was completed quickly and professionally. It's hard to find shops that are this honest and transparent these days. Highly recommend Total Care Transmissions for their integrity, communication, and quality work.
