One year ago we discovered that Valvoline installed a battery that was too small, even though they invoiced me for the larger battery. After a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to replace. Then, while doing the replacement they broke one of the attachments to the battery. A headache. Second car: Again, Valvoline replaced the battery about two years ago. After taking the car to a reputable mechanic for some issues, we again learned that Valvoline installed a battery that was too small for the car. I did not write a review the first time, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Now I can only conclude that this is their practice.

Instead of doing their jobs, manager Christian and technician Eric completely withheld standard care and acted like my light didn't have an issue until I paid them a cash tip. Only after money changed hands did they suddenly look at my light, but they then attempted to manufacture a completely fake light issue that didn't exist to scam me. When I pointed out the actual, specific light concern, they inspected it and claimed it needed to be fixed. I watched them fix it but still question whether it needed to be fixed. In addition, they engaged in a total bait-and-switch pricing scam. They claimed they would "do me a favor" and apply that 20 dollars toward the light service charge. In reality, they were overcharging me. When I pointed out I knew how much the light cost he made up an excuse for over charging me and corrected the invoice. When I directly confronted them for attempting to take advantage of me, manager Christian and Eric met me with total silence, and rushed me through the rest of the process to push me out the door as fast as possible. In their haste to move me along, they completely failed to provide me with an invoice. This goes way beyond poor customer service--this is intentional consumer fraud, extortionary tipping tactics, and financial manipulation overseen directly by the store manager. I have filed formal complaints with Valvoline Customer Care requesting escalation to Corporate. I am prepared to escalate this matter further if not addressed. Avoid this shop at all costs! Must all be friends and family (I've observed a certain clientele there). I took my vehicle in, against my better judgment, for a simple oil change because the place was convenient and I'd gone there once before without incident. I'm always prepared for shops like this upselling and giving me a laundry list of needed repairs, which I always take with a grain of salt. There was one repair, however, that I knew needed to be done and it was simple enough that I was actually going to take it back to them at a later date because, again, convenience. However, shortly afterwards I had to take my vehicle to my regular mechanic for something else and they did a COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC, which Midas did NOT do, and I learned that a number of the things Midas said needed repair were, in fact, not necessary, and one was major. When I called them to discuss this, the person I spoke with (I never really can understand him) immediately became extremely rude and aggressive and kept insisting I was being "disrespectful" (as he was practically yelling at me) by going to another mechanic and not "trusting his service" and proceeded to quickly hang up. In my 50+ years of dealing with mechanics and businesses of every kind, I have never once experienced anyone so rude and unprofessional. If you are a professional running a business, there is never any excuse for hanging up on a customer. Ever. Apparently he doesn't understand that customers have every right, in this country, to go wherever they want whenever they want, get second opinions and other estimates, and that no one owes them their loyalty, especially if it hasn't been earned. I suspect it all had something to do with a bruised ego and a woman challenging his expertise. I literally was going to give him a chance to do the right thing. After all, I'd had a thorough diagnostic done and they themselves admitted in the beginning that they couldn't really see what the problem was (since they didn't do an actual diagnostic). When it comes to an oil leak, guess work rarely cuts it. Word of mouth really is the best advertising there is and people like this seem to forget that. I will never stop telling people about this shop and if you're someone who reads this review and chooses to use them anyway, consider yourself warned. I shudder to think how much it would have cost me (1k min.) if I had "trusted" his "service."
