So let me first start off by saying I do afternoon tea every year for my birthday, and the service…read moreis always stellar. The ambience is always beautiful, with light jazzed and quiet conversations. But I would love to recognize Riley, who was my server. She was just the sweetest, kindest and the most thoughtful host. Every year that I've come and they ask what are you celebrating, and I mention my birthday was in a few days. She took the time to bring out the birthday duck with a candle, and it was just beautiful. She also helped me out with a solution to self parking. So kudos to Reilly please someone give her a raise. So onto the food, stellar as always there was only two things that I noticed, I missed the butter that goes with the scone, which I'm sure if I asked I would've received, but honestly, it was tasty without it. The only other thing is with a tea it gets weaker every time it gets refilled. Given that tea service price has increased to $65 plus the 9.25% sales tax and the 20% included gratuity came to about $90 (which was a little more than I was expecting, but inflation right). It would've been great to get the leaves changed out after the third pour, but other than that it was a 10 out of 10.

The service by our wonderful server Riley was wonderful and she was very cheerful, prompt, and did…read morea wonderful job with our kids. The ambiance of the restaurant and entire hotel is amazing. The Peabody does it right full of elegance and refinement. The ducks are an amazing and cheerful touch as well. The food was good and the tea delicious. The experience is where it is at though. Definitely something I would do again. Memphis you charmed me and I will be back.

La Baguette has always been a treat ever since I was a teenager circa 1995 (showing my age here!)…read moreWithout a doubt, they have the best chicken salad, pimento cheese, and sweet treats in Memphis. Yesterday a last minute catering need arose, and despite the short notice, not only were they able to fulfill our order; they were the most competitive on price! Their customer service was very professional and everyone always "ooohs and ahhhs" when you tell them it came from La Baguette! Count me in as one happy and satisfied customer. If you need catering, give them a call.

LaMadelaine's in the Garden District of NOLA is a MUST when I make my way that far south, so it's no wonder I have shopped locally to get my french pastry "fix on" over the many decades LaBaquette has been available to me here. Knowing Reginald Dahl, the original owner of LaBaguette, used to make those pit stops even more special for me, as I try to support local businesses when possible. I decided recently to pick up a few things on my way home. I ended up w/a total of 4 pastries (one was day old so it was half off) one was a chocolate raspberry tart, an almond croissant, an almond creme filled custard. The sticker shock total was OVER $22.00!!! Absolutely ridiculous to think I paid that for 4 items. BUT, this is NOT the reason for the review. The choc raspberry tart was atrocious. There was no balance to the chocolate to raspberry ratio. The whisper of raspberry flavor that managed to make it into the bottom of the pastry shell wasn't even enough to make out a berry flavor at all. If there hadn't been a slight thin line of reddish color for the naked eye to perceive, I'd have thot it was all chocolate icing. Sadly, I think I'm done w/LaBaguette, I refuse to pay their expensive prices just to receive poor quality products.

If you get the chance to visit Memphis, definitely stop by this adorable bakery + boutique, not far…read morefrom Beale Street, about a mile walk from the Peabody Hotel. Update: They are currently open on Mondays! Which was lucky for me as today is Monday and I had a few hours of free time. This is part-boutique, part-bakery. I am a macaron fanatic and the raspberry macaron was 100% the BEST macaron I've ever had. It was fresh, bursting with flavor, and crumbled so delicately. Thankfully they come in packs of two, so I have one more to enjoy later. I bought a few packs of macaroons, a delicious ice-cold mango green tea, a greeting card, two vinyl decals, and a perfect t-shirt: "Mental Health Matters", going to post that today to my college Senior. I got to chat a bit with one of the owners today, and she shared with me that she designs some of the cool decals and tees!! Very talented. Please support this local treasure. They ship, too! I'm only in town for a week, but I'll definitely be back for more treats!
