Whenever I visit Sumter for Thanksgiving, this place is always my top choice! The property is consistently clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. You can tell they truly care about maintaining a welcoming and well-kept property. During my most recent stay, I encountered a minor hiccup with the heat in room 309. Thankfully, Vera (if I recall her name correctly) stepped in immediately, offered an extra blanket, tried to fix the issue herself and after that didn't work--she ultimately moved me to room 311 right next door--problem solved, no hassle! Had a very short one night stay. But thr staff was prepared for my late arrival which was very pleasant. Checked in with no issues. Room was great. Very clean and comfortable. Tons of space. I used the 24-hour gym and had complimentary breakfast the next morning before a hassle-free check out. Enjoyed and would stay there again. Overall an okay experience however if you're looking to go to the bar expect them to close at whatever time they want if you see an older lady with blonde hair and glasses. Who was rude by the way.Went at 9:40 and was told they are close with no other excuse than she already started doing her closing duties. There is no need to set a closing time if it is not going to be followed. Tima or Tina ( bartender ) not sure her name , however was very kind the day before. So just keep that in mind when wanting to utilize the bar area. Other than that everyone else is very kind and accommodating. Rooms need a bit of an upgrade but still stay- able. read more

We had a two queen bed suite on the 4th floor. VERY spacious, clean and comfortable! I loved that there was a toilet and small sink in a separate room (with sliding door) from the shower and main sink in its own room (with sliding door). Our room had a walk-in closet...can you say WOW! And then there was a separate area with desk, couch, and mini fridge. There are signs all over the place that say face covering are required, but none of the staff were wearing face covering so I took that as my cue that face covering were not really required. Breakfast was bacon, scrambled eggs, French total sticks, yogurt, milk, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. They have a little market near the check in desk where you can buy snacks, frozen dinners, wine, etc. Although we did not use, they have an indoor pool, hot tub and fitness center. read more

When I arrived in my room, I noticed that there was a leftover crusty dried washcloth hanging from the shower rod in the bathroom from the previous occupant, usually I can overlook something minor like that. I ended up waking up with bites all over my neck the next morning, not a "rash from a detergent allergy" like I was told by management, raised, itchy, BED BUG BITES, all in a straight line exactly how bed bugs feast on you. I informed management of the issue, they called their bug person out and got an inspection which indicated no bed bugs. Not sure how you can just inspect for bugs, they're small, they hide, and I bet you didn't check the entire room either. Anyways, management calls me back and says no bugs - sorry that happened - you had an allergic reaction to our detergent. No I didn't. They refunded 25% back to my card, with a "take it or leave it" attitude. Any pushback I gave, and they hid behind their "no bugs" report from the bug guy. Little did you know though I was attending a conference this week at one of your largest businesses in town, where every vendor there was staying at a some type of hotel in town, I got the honor of attending looking like I had the plague. Then had to take 1/2 a day of PTO to decontaminate all of my luggage, work supplies, clothing etc... Not really worth the $98 I got back on my Visa along with the poor attitude of management. I'm sure they were doing what they're told to do with these situations, but that's just plain bad customer service. I kept getting asked if I had gone to the doctor too? Why does that matter, is your liability increased if I have to go to a doctor? I'll never stay there again, I'm incredibly disappointed. I chose your hotel because it was the highest rated in the area and I have to make about 4 trips per year to Sumter, along with colleagues etc, I'll make sure we all avoid you in the future. read more

Easily one of the nicest hotels in Sumter. Of course that is very easy to say because when I stayed it was not even open for a year. It still had that newness and no worries of anything being ran down after years of use or neglect in many cases. A very modern hotel in terms of comfort and design. The room I stayed in was a king suite which offered a desk area and a separate sleeping and living area. There was plenty of closet space and a mini fridge along with a microwave. So if you want to get something as a just in case meal or bring in leftovers you are covered. It is located near a few eateries that are within walking distance but well within a quick drive of many other places to visit in Sumter. The lounge and bar area is very relaxing whether you are enjoying a drink, talking with friends, or having the complimentary breakfast. The staff was on spot and despite arriving early there was no wait for me in getting a room and relaxing. I hope the staff keeps up with the top notch performance that has earned so many five star reviews in its short existence. read more

Impressed with this SpringHill suites. The lobby and bar were very clean. They had plexiglass for COVID precautions and sanitizer and gloves everywhere. The lobby was gorgeous and very bright and well decorated. There is a nice bar in the lobby that seemed to be fully stocked. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed. A micro suite has a half divider wall which is useful when traveling with children. read more

If you're looking to stay in Sumter, THIS is the hotel you need to stay at. Clean, impressive rooms with a separate toilet area (in the twin bed room, not sure about the other rooms), comfy beds, great customer service, nice bar area and the BREAKFAST. If a hotel offers breakfast, I always go. You can always tell the care they put into the hotel through the breakfast. Here, you'll find a potato hash with cheese and sausage, the most delicious fruit, great scrambled egg toppings and the best yogurt! You can tell I put a lot of emphasis on the breakfast but it is really just the cherry on top of a great stay. read more

We were in Sumter for a family get together and had booked an AirBNB. The house wasn't as advertised, so we called SpringHill Suites. They were able to book rooms for us and welcomed us in as if we're part of their family. The property is new, perfectly clean and full of great and comfortable amenities. The staff, especially Vanessa at the front desk, is amazingly friendly and professional. We're 100% satisfied and we highly recommend this hotel if you're in the area. read more

My husband and I stayed here instead of staying at my parents home due to all of the out of state relatives and 6 dogs at the house for the Christmas Holiday. Whewww!! This hotel is amazing. It's located in a great area for shopping and dining as most hotels are, however, Buffalo Wild Wings is literally next door! Last minute gift shopping, yep, you have a TJ Maxx and Walmart within 3 miles from the hotel! Inside this hotel you will find a super friendly staff. Modern decor all over this 2 year old hotel. Marriott always does it right! Kuddos to Marriott on this hotel. Just gorgeous! You have a nice open bar area to the right of the check in area with small tables and of course seating at the bar. Open till 10pm on Christmas Eve! Our room was the King suite: Comfortable King sized bed with clean fresh comforter and linens, soft fluffy pillows too! The room had a separate living area with a couch and chair that overlooked the rest of the suite. This suite also had 2 bathrooms, yes 2!! Although 1 only had a sink and a toilet, it was nice when you had 2 people rushing on Christmas morning to get to mom's house to open gifts! The larger bathroom had a shower, not a tub shower combo. The shower was large enough for 2 people (we think...lol) and a European frameless thick glass door and enclosure. Mini fridge and microwave. Free breakfast! The food was overwhelming, so many choices and kept up nicely. Pool, gym, this hotel has everything! Check it out you will NOT be disappointed. Hate those old fashioned heating and cooling units, we'll these rooms have the digital thermostat you find at home sweet home! Last but not least.....the value, incredible, $125 a night ( Marriott rewards member) prices will vary, so check with hotel. Overall, exceptional hotel and superior amenities, we will return. We stayed during Covid so did not get to enjoy all of the amenities, but had a great stay. We loved the layout of the room with 2 Queen beds, and pullout sofa, office desk and TWO sinks in separate bathrooms--the toilet with a sink AND a separate shower/tub and sink. The beds were very comfortable. The extra sinks and space made it very comfortable for our family of 4. There's also a large walk in closet. Due to Covid, they had made-to-order hot breakfast to go (ordered on a paper menu the night before) in addition to individually wrapped muffins, yogurt and bagels. We were impressed with the service and would definitely stay again. read more

I visit Sumter often for family and this is by far the best hotel in the area! It is clean and modern with a great location that feels safe. I would not stay in downtown Sumter for any amount of money and since this hotel is far from downtown it makes the location perfect. I arrive in Sumter on 378 from Columbia so this location is perfect. It is located close to most of the restaurants, shopping, and the base. The breakfast is included with your room and for a hotel breakfast very nice with a large variety. The staff is friendly and very helpful! This will be my go to hotel! read more

Room was nasty! I have stayed at this property many times over the years but unfortunately this will be my last stay. It is clear that the housekeeping staff aren't cleaning the rooms thoroughly and there is no one to check behind them. The carpet is nasty, and the sofa is filthy. There are obvious stains all over the sofa and I guess no one can take the time to clean it. I turned the cushions over and placed a white sheet over the sofa because I refused to sit on it. There is obvious debris around the bed where the room has not been vacuumed properly and I found a fork underneath the nightstand. I refuse to walk barefoot on this carpet and will be wearing flip flops all weekend. It is a shame that this property is this unkept following a pandemic. The housekeeping staff can make or break a property and it is clear their staff is lackluster at best. They couldn't even fill the body wash dispenser, but I bet they will find time to stop and eat the breakfast that we paid for tomorrow morning. I have attached pictures taken right after check-in. Great place to spend the night. This place must be very new. Everything is bright and clean. No odors or stains anywhere. Rooms are really suite sized - very modern furnishings. This is the cleanest, nicest hotel I ever have stayed in. It's only been open for 4 years but it's impeccably maintained. Driving from NJ to Florida, we were looking for a place to stay at the last minute . Not real close to I 95 exit but worth the extra miles. I stayed here and complained several times about the AC.. room was not cool at all .. very hot and stuffy . A tech came one and took the unit apart . I needed to stay N extra night but opted not to stay here because. My needed were never addressed.. I booked a room at the TRU- Hilton Hotel next door and received a room with an AC that actually works well . I'm a loyal Marriott patron but was extremely disappointed with this stay . My room was 225 . I stayed from June 4- June 7th , in addition I complained at checkout of my experience.. I've never given Marriott a negative review however, this stay was the absolute worst experience !! read more

This hotel is superb. By far the nicest hotel we have stayed in as a family. Their suite had plenty of room to put a baby crib and still have alone space for me and my husband. The staff is young but mature, and extremely friendly. We stayed there for a week while moving to Shaw AFB (and yes they drop their price to the government rate!), and in that week the entire staff befriended us. The rooms are new and very clean, and the breakfast has a good amount of choices-including the choice of waffles during the weekend or fresh fruit during the week. Their washer and dryer are free to use and they have detergent at the front desk, definitely the first hotel we've been to with that bonus. The pool is indoors and there is a nice hot tub next to it. The room's wifi and landline internet were very fast (we just had to provide our own Ethernet cord). Finally, they were very gracious when we had to check out late due to move in issues. We would like to give a big shout out to Jessie at the front desk who took the time with his friend to help my husband ratchet strap a deep freezer to his car's trunk, which was not a easy task. Thanks Jessie, and yes, bow ties are cool. 100% recommend to anyone willing to spend the extra money for an amazing stay. read more

Very clean! We stopped here on our way to Florida. The hotel was busy but everything was great. The rooms are modern and up-to date. My kids used the pool which they loved and they have a small bar area for a drink after a long trip. We had breakfast the morning we left and it was great. The hotel is very nice but Mary at the front desk has a very negative attitude towards military families. My husband is active duty stationed in the Middle East and came to Sumter for a conference. Our kids and I drove up from Florida to meet him. We were originally booked in a different hotel but it was dirty and smelled like there was a natural gas leak so at the last minute we needed to find a better accommodation. We were only able to book 2 nights at SpringHill Suites with the government rate when we checked in (we needed 5 nights) but the night clerk advised us to check again in the morning. So we did. Unfortunately Mary was very condescending toward us. She said she could not give us the government rate so we said we understood, and we inquired about the regular rate. She responded "you're not going to like it, it's $200," with the implication that we could not afford it. So we said ok! Then for no apparent reason she informed us that "this is a business." At no time did we argue with her or disrespect her in any way, yet she treated us like bums looking for a handout. The smirk on her face and the tone of her voice made it clear that she felt contempt toward us. It was extremely upsetting. I went back a short time later and told Mary that her attitude toward us was unacceptable and unwarranted. With the ever present smirk on her face and a very disingenuous tone she said "I'm sorry you feel that way." She was not sorry for being rude and offensive, she was merely sorry that we felt that way. We don't care if they give us the government rate or not, but we deserve to be treated with respect. read more

I just left this hotel and will never return again. I asked the front desk lady that wears glasses and is kind of slim to take a look at the room before buying. She told me to take a look at the brochure to get an idea before buying. I've never had a clerk tell me that ever in life and I'm very disappointed.
