We stayed at this Hampton Inn for a few days recently. My first room was unpleasant as the air conditioner was inoperable. This resulted in a very hot room during the sunny South Carolina afternoon. The mini-fridge was running very loudly since the room was so hot and there would have been no way for me to sleep if it continued. The front desk contacted their maintenance person and one finally arrived at 10PM. He was not able to get the air conditioner running again but fortunately, a room freed up and the front desk was able to move me to a new room. The new room was great and was everything I had expected from this brand. The bed and furniture were in great condition and I had a good night's sleep. One thing that caught me off guard was the way they made the beds here. The Wifi was decent and the breakfast was good. Breakfast was currently served by a worker rather than the usual self served format. I'd definitely try to stay here again next time if I'm in the area. read more

If you like the smell of a wet dog - or the thought that someone's dog has slept in the bed you're paying for, this is the place for you. We were very disappointed with the smell of the room. We own a dog - but we don't take him on trips and we certainly don't allow him to stink up a hotel room. They need to revisit their pet policy and only allow them in certain rooms. read more

Reserved a connecting room almost a month ago. Was told the day of arrival that the connecting room was not guaranteed. If it's not available/guaranteed, don't offer it. The manager, Angela, was not helpful at all. So this Hampton decided to place me and my family on a floor where renovations are being done. Seems like the room connected to mine, is being occupied by workers. I will definitely not be back!! The only plus was the young lady at check-in. She was polite. That was the reason for the 1 star. The dead bolt didn't work. I contacted the front desk, but no response. Horrible experience!! The breakfast and staff made the stay so much better. read more

The staff is mediocre. The coffee was probably the worst I've ever had. The first room I got did not have a functioning A/C unit so I had to move. The bathrooms had leftover hair left in them from the previous occupant. I got a Pepsi from the drink machine that was 3 months expired. The only thing that was nice was the bed. For the price you can do MUCH better. The carpet is also disgusting like it's never been vacuumed and the furniture is filthy. read more

As most of my reviews for Hampton's, again very happy with the cleanliness, the great staff, good breakfast early and comfy beds. The beds in Hampton Inns if not already a best kept secret are the best! Layers of comfort, lots of pillows, missed many appointments because I chose to sleep in one more hour and blame traffic.... ( hope my boss doesn't read this). Table lamps with USB and power ports make laptop work easy laying in bed and charging all my Apple devices ( thanks Steve Jobs!). Lots of food nearby this location so will be staying when working this side of town. Highly recommend read more

I came to Sumter for a week and am a Hilton Honors member. This hotel is very clean and the staff is very nice. They have a decent sized refrigerator and microwave. The hotel is next door to a Waffle House. Other dining places near by are Firehouse Subs, Chipotle, and Arby's. The gym is very tiny, one elliptical, one bike, and one treadmill. The weather was to cold to use the pool. There is only one washer and dryer for $2.50 each load. There are also ice machines and drink machines on each floor. I would recommend this hotel. read more

I have stayed at this hotel on more than a few occasions. My last stay was one of the better ones as I think they have refreshed some of the rooms. I have stayed in many Hampton Inns across the country for business and leisure and this is one of the better ones. The many breakfast offerings and the evening socials are a nice touch with many hotels forgoing due to covid reasons. Service can still be offered but when the safety excuse is used that just tells me that the hotel does not know how to do things safely. It is small things that I like and this included telling me of the afternoon social and providing me with those extra benefits of being a diamond member without asking. One thing I did notice in my room (304) was that the shower water temperature was reversed. The blue dot was actually the hot and the red dot was actually the cold. Other than that internet speed was pretty good to get work done and no need to worry about video buffering if try to do a video chat. read more

The hotel wasn't that clean but everyone was nice and friendly. It is conveniently located and plenty of parking.

We were searching for hours for a hotel that would let us check in immediately. Yes we were searching for a walk in hotel at around 5am, but every other hotel would tell us they have rooms available but we could not check in until 3pm. (Which we only needed a place to stay until about 11am or 12pm) This was the only place that would accept a walk in and check in that moment. The front desk employees were very professional and helpful. The only reason it is not 5 stars is because it is a little bit pricey, we got a 2 queen room for 1 night, after tax it was about $200. Which at the time, we were not worried about the price we just needed somewhere to sleep, so if the money isn't an issue or it's a last resort, this is a go to. read more

Our room # 204 was poorly cleaned. The toilet was disgusting. I mean disgusting. Have photos we took if there's any doubt. Contacted main desk. The manager came & cleaned the toilet for us. She did apologized. We felt it was sincere. After she left we started to put food in the fridge. We discovered it hadn't been cleaned. So we cleaned it ourselves. I frequent Hilton chain hotels because my stays are always welcoming. This particular hotel was just as enjoyable! Our stay was very pleasant and met my expectations as a Hilton property usually does. I traveled with my children, and as always at Hampton Inn, they were treated with dignity and patience. The housekeeping staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly, & sincere. I was politely given each item I requested, met with a smile. My room was spotless! No dust, unkempt walls, or stained flooring. Parking was sufficient for mid-week, and location was convenient. I will continue being a guest with Hilton properties for these very reasons. read more

3/21 I only have 1 star because I cant give 0 stars. Beside the construction and job fair that was not mentioned when booking or checking in this was a terrible stay. I'm only complaining about this because they were lined up across from our door it was very noisy early in the morning. We had not 1 dirty room but 2. Even the 3rd and final room smelled. We gave up and went to the store and bought cleaners and air freshener. I wish we would of just looked for another place to stay. Hair in the beds, dirty floors, dirty bath rooms and the smells. The soap dishes were not even washed off. 1 frige and microwave with food splatters in it. Molded coffee pots YES people check those too. Stuff all on the wall and doors. Even the water in the shower was not hot. To be fare I was a house keeper in a hotel for 12 yrs. I know what needs to be done in a room. There is times when only the basic are done. So I bring wipe and clean up when checking in and dont thrash the room. But this was on a whole other level of gross. All off the staff we delt with wer. e helpful and friendly. They were very apologetic and offered us points. I said what are points? She said my friend was a blue member. I assumed that meant discounts on the next stay. I said that wouldn't be necessary we wouldn't be staying at any of their property again. I also suggest they clean the carpets since I had to spot clean it, and we put a towel down between the bed and wore shose the whole time. Not the typical Hampton Inn you may be used to staying at. We arrived very late about 1 AM, and were told that we could not check in yet because the lady at the front desk was running her audit. However the gentleman on the phone told her to just check our name and give us the key. Soon after we got into the room we noticed the smell of a dingy musty room. Thank goodness my husband brought a can of Febeeze with him to mask the odor. Breakfast in the morning was less than stellar, some stale pastries and a few strips of bacon. Outstanding service from checking in to taking cafe of breakfast. Greeted with complimentary bottled waters was a nice touch. The breakfast was above average, I enjoyed it very much. The young lady, "Mary" working in the breakfast area was very professional, helpful and just good ole fashion nice and friendly. I usually avoid Hilton's because they have crappy internet usage policies, but I called ahead of tme and found out that this particular establishment has free internet (and was a cheaper option than HIExp). I travel a lot and rarely review hotels because I am just not very picky (other than being ripped off and sleeping with roaches of course). Rooms and hotel are clean and comfortable. I am reviewing this hotel because I was in a pinch and needed some materials printed off for a meeting I had today. I really needed them in color. The staff allowed me to print off the materials at their desk! They were so accomodating and saved me a trip to FedEx to do my printing (a thing I LOATHE). When my travels take me back to Sumter, I will stay no where else. Cannot beat the price, service and comfort of this partiuclar hotel. read more

Every time we visit South Carolina, we stay here. This is our home away from home in SC. It is clean. Staff are always cheerful and friendly. Dining hall personnel is always so nice and so good in keeping the place so clean & tidy. Housekeeping are always reliable in tidying the room. Overall, this place is always our best choice. No complaints. They even let us set up lawn chairs and big umbrellas by the pool to wait for the eclipse. Minnie was wonderful. Also, the gentleman who does maintenance leant us a hand... and duct tape to stabilize the umbrellas. Ice cold AC in the rooms. Lots of hot water and pressure. Breakfast was good. Nice waffles. I am a diamond Hilton honors person. I stay in Hilton properties most nights of the week. This hotel had the most incompetent staff I have EVER found at a hotel by Hilton. They were rude, lazy and condescending especially the day desk clerk, Candy. She was the most arrogant, rude person I have encountered in quite a while. I had a package shipped. I had evidence it had been received. she "knew" the post office had made a mistake.... it had been delivered two days before and was in the mail box outside the hotel. I went to their mailbox and got it. She needs to be fired immediately or you will loose more guests. I and three others were booked for a meeting in April here at this hotel. I will be moving all three of us to another hotel. I will not stay here as long as she is still employed. read more

Damages that have been done to my personal property from a roof leak at this location on September 16th 2018. The issues still have not been resolved! My laptop as well as several other electronic devices that were destroyed due to the incidence still have not been replaced! I spoke with Debra the GM for the location who has given me the run around of we have sent the information to the owner, but we still have not heard anything! Had 6-guests in from Kentucky on business. One lady found bed bugs in her room. Called the others traveling with her and two of the six rooms were infested. The hotel changed them to another room and took all laundry and luggage for decontamination. I called the manager and asked if they had checked out all the other rooms. She (Debra) said no, that they addressed this as it came up! Don't stay there. I was in town for my niece's wedding and this is where we stayed. As one reviewer said, it IS in walking distance to about everything you would need, except possibly a Trader Joe's or health food store. My room was pretty nice, the bed comfy..the linens were beautiful, and the breakfast was decent. People were friendly and actually I have no complaints. The only reason why I didn't give it a better rating is simply because it is A-ok...I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice place to stay. Probably the only negative would be that our room looked out to the parking lot and the view at the swimming pool is the parking lot...no biggie.... read more

My family had a great experience. Hampton Inn is our favorite hotel chain when we travel, and this one was on par with all of the rest of the good ones. I read the negative reviews, and most of those complaining about it being moldy, in need of a refresh, etc. were several years old. All I can say is that our rooms (our party was in both rooms 102 & 104) were just fine, modern, and up to the typical Hampton Inn standards. I can only assume that they've renovated the hotel since those reviews were written, or at least the parts we saw. The staff that interacted with us were polite and helpful. The only complaint I had there was they didn't slip my receipt under the door. I had to go to the front desk to check out. No big deal because I wasn't in a hurry, but usually they take care of that for you in the wee hours of the morning. I liked the breakfast, perhaps even more so than normal. Scrambled eggs and sausage are commonplace now. However I'm lactose intolerant and I hate it when they just assume you want cheese in your eggs. That ruins it for me; I can't eat them. Here, they have the cheese off to the side if you want to put it on top, but the eggs are pure. The worst thing I can say about this hotel is its location. We often travel between Maryland and Florida, and prefer to stay right off of I-95. However this year we traveled at the height of spring break season and waited too late to book rooms. The hotel in Sumter SC is about a 20 minute drive one-way off the interstate. If you want to be in the Sumter area I highly recommend this hotel, however if you want to move on down the road, the 40 minutes round trip to and from I-95 is a detriment. Not huge, but still an inconvenience. On the other hand the hotel is within walking distance of many shopping and dining opportunities, so that's a plus. read more

I just spent three nights in rm 106 for handicaps. The bed was old and lumpy. The desk chair looked like it had been dragged thru the parking lot! It was so dirty and ragged, I refused to sit in it. The staff were OK. The place was clean. Its seen better days. It was not up to the standards of a Hilton / Hampton hotel. I stay in them a lot. There is a Holiday Inn Express just up the street. I just had a horrible experience with the front desk staff at this hotel. We were experiencing flooding in the city and I called the facility at 6am to reserve a room as our apartment was flooding. I provided my credit card information and was assured that a room would be available for me that day. After squaring away what I could at home and arranging for a place for my dog (they do not accept pets), we realized we would have to walk since our cars were flooded. I called the hotel to make sure our reservation was still on file and was told by the RUDEST man at the front desk that he tried to call me to tell me he had given my reservation away. He did not try to call me as I had NO missed calls or voicemail on my phone. He claimed he could not get through but my phone was fine during my numerous calls with State Farm and my landlord! He had the nerve to hang up on me after telling me he did not have time "to deal with me". Really now? Isn't that your job to deal with customers. He should not be at the front desk of anything, much less in a hospitality role. Don't stay here! They are terrible and a bunch of rude, obnoxious liars! read more
